- Mr. Killup (Roy Poole) is a grumpy and misanthropic old man who hates Halloween, often spending the 31st of October tormenting trick-or-treaters who come to his door. This year however, he is visited by a sinister goblin who insistently demands candy. When its offer is repeatedly refused, the goblin punishes Mr. Killup by trapping him outside of time with little-to-no food, forcing him to sustain himself on the candy his son gave him to hand out.

Dude, we need more episodes with the Halloween season upon us bros!
This is THE Tales episode for me. If I ever get the chance to introduce someone to this wonderful series, this is my go to episode. All the arguments made for Inside the Closet can be made for this episode.
That was Roy Poole's second to last role as Mr. Killup. He actually passed away about two months later, so his "give no shits" attitude was likely art imitating life. He still brought it and helped elevate the episode into classic territory.
Incredible! And agreed!
That ghoul at the end scared the bejesus outta me and that cantankerous old man had me cracking up as well
i remember seeing this episode when i was a little kid on some local tv station late at night, the image of the monster and the old man have been stuck in my head since then and now i know what it was, finally! Great episode guys! Crazy how similar this is to that Trick'r treat segment..
The Troll looks like Fluffy from The Crate, Creepshow 🥰
Tom Savini did that creature too so I wouldn't be surprised.
Only think about it..may look like Fluffy..but he's totally 'Sam' from TrickR'Treat
By far one of the best of the entire series. I've always felt like the second season was super hit and miss. Although, boy does it get dark towards the ends.
This was one of my favorite episodes back when I was younger
I remember this episode. It must've been a VHS I rented when I was a kid. I don't know how else I would've seen it. Great job everyone. Thanks for posting. Had me flashing back to my childhood where I had a mom and pop movie rental store only a 5-10 minute walk away. Great times.
This is the episode I always think of when I think back to Tales from the Darkside I feel bad for the son though. Now the son’s gonna do prison time all because his dad couldn’t be bothered to give out candy.
I’ve watched Halloween Candy quite a few times and absolutely love it. The music and atmosphere is creepy. The way the creature touches the hand , like you guys had mentioned, was odd as well but done so well. It was meant to f with killup and ignite what would become a decent into insanity with the breaking of the watch and what that signifies.
Freakin awesome episode. There's so many good things to say about it. Absolutely love this one. Top 3 of the entire series.
Solid episode good talk guys.
Came across your channel a few months ago, keep up the amazing work fellas, one of the best movie/TV review channels around 👏
If you like them, you'll love hack the movies! It's a similar concept.
Thanks for watching, we’re glad you’re digging the show!! 🙌💚📼
Another one of my favorite episodes! Tom Savini also directed the season 4 episode, Family Reunion, but I'm not sure if he also did the special effects.
Round 2
Fun as always fellas y'all know I can't get enough of these thanks for the double dip 😂
Hey guys, just another small note of interest. I was rewatching season 4, and there actually is another episode directed by Tom Savini. I wasn’t very familiar with it, but it’s a good episode.
Ohhhhh, totally forgot about that one! Nice catch!
I was flabbergasted when somehow the nice son got blamed for this guy's demise via goblin.
Definitely one of my favorites. This episode freaked my father out and he told me to turn it off.
Happy Everytime Jon Heard n baby bring me more great tales from the MDU fuckin love y'all's vids!!
Can we talk about how fresh joe and sean look with their hair cuts
This one was my favorite episode of tales.
Well, they say there are only seven original stories. So there are always gonna be movies and show plots that are similar. Look at Dredd and The Raid. The Quest/Street Fighter. Child’s Play…….every scary doll story in existence.
There’s a difference between parallel thinking, execution, and straight up
ripping off. However, we were just poking fun, Trick r Treat was most certainly a homage to this episode.
How am I just now finding you guys? Great reviews I wish I had friends like you guys. No one in my circle likes stuff like this.
Thanks for giving us a chance and we’re glad you’re enjoying the show! 🙏💚📼
It's a great episode
Happy Halloween 🎃👻
Chackles the old miser is a great character
My favorite dark side episode
This was a awesome series
What I just don't understand is how I'm the only person that realizes that this story/episode right here is where we got our not too long ago, newly added horror cinema character/icon..that of course being 'Sam' from Trick R' Treat(2007) .. Seriously., check for yourselves.
We literally talk about it in the episode.
@@MovieDumpster Oh..well to quote Gideon from Gideon's Pawn Shop:"shit on me". I was actually listening while at work so..I must've missed that part...woops! But nice to know I'm not alone 👍
