So if you are drilling to use a 3/8" bolt you would not use a 3/8" drill bit?

Why didn't you use a forstner bit?

      Hi AndroidGameplays4Every1,
Forstner bits tend to be significantly more expensive when compared to the price of spade bits. The same job can be accomplished with a spade bit so we decided to use spade bits for the demonstration, although Forstner bits also work. Forstner bits are great for specific depths in mind while spade bits can be used to more general work when you are unsure how deep you will need to drill.

Counter-bore is too deep, pilot bit should not go all the way through unless you are using a nut and bolt, water can get in from the back side when using a lag bolt, lag bolt is too short, should use a fender washer to keep bolt head from sinking in. Other than that, good demo.
