Over-slowing and the resulting lower mid-corner speed is probably the biggest difference between being ok and being properly competitive at a decent level
That's probably my biggest issue. And then I get into the bad habit of tapping the throttle before the apex, which just makes things worse when I do actually brake properly.
Me too, until then using a light colored car seems to help me. Maybe it's just my imagination but I feel like I can see through a white or silver ghost better.
What would you suggest for improving with race consistency? I'm happy-ish with the pace I can get in time trials but in races I'm so inconsistent, make silly errors, cost myself loads of time with mistakes or even full on spins. How can you work on that consistency that you can do decent laps again and again with no silly errors?
Get used to the car. TT and Hotlap times are different than racing. The only time TT pace is used, is when you're in front because you don't have to change braking behind someone else. Hence why you need to know braking points when behind someone. Get comfortable with the car, choose gearing and braking. Be relaxed
Just to expand on Freedom_borns comment. For me it's knowing the brake markers, whether you learn them in time trial or race format having a brake marker makes it consistent you can always adjust either further forward or back accordingly. But having markers is the biggest thing for me personally. If you check out my weekly race guide where I was right behiind Jammy at Monza I know my marker is coming up at Ascari so I'm already prep'd for the braking so can remain so so so close behind them. One thing to always remember with races are cold tyres and full tank of fuel so I always brake earlier than my marker initially until the race settles and then I'll start to push a bit more towards my actual markers.
@@tidgney Indeed Tidge, even keeping the yellow Corner Indicators on helps with that too. At least if the boards get wiped out and you're still unfamiliar, the yellow markers are awesome.
Cheers Tidge great info there and where was that track and when did you do that ? Looked epic! Apparently that V Box can be used for PS but can't recall how, using a capture card I believe, I think Digit did it somehow, it was fantastic how it lined up the comparison laps so precise, very clever stuff.
Which track, the GT Academy one 👀? That was a custom track using their circuit maker that they used :). If its the real life one that was Palmersport :)
Good video! David Perel cost me a 💩load, but it was worth it. And he sings your praises, particularly your mindset towards racing. You'll be worth every $/£ I'm sure... if you can find the time.
Pro tip! There is a setting that reset the ghost every sector! (GT7) 🚗 👍🏻💪🏻
YES! Excellent tip, I always forget about that.

Like deployed 👍

I wish there was a way to increase the transparency of the ghost

That's a cracking idea, I'll get that into the feedback group

Haven't watched any tips yet. I just keep replaying that first minute. 😋

Circuit Tool is interesting but it doesn't support GT7.
YIKES!!!!! Tidge in full 4k. RUNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!
Great video, love then washing on the airer haha
Can you import ACC replay files into VBOX so you could do a comparison like yours and Mike's?
Not that I'm aware, although maybe there's a feature or way to do it I'm not sure but I suspect not unfortunately.
I set my ghost at .5 it helps big time...
Poppin collars
Shot caller.
Bring it in 4K.
