    I enjoy your projects. Th e background music not so much. It's very distracting. I would prefer to hear the actual sounds of the project along with a description of what you are doing and the tools and materials used.

    There's nothing easy, cheap, quick or safe in wood working.
    It's all worth it most of the times, but that's how it is.

    You can make this more bird friendly. On the inside of the front cover, fasten some small twigs so that fledglings have easier access to exit hole.

  • @paddywakk5635
    @paddywakk5635 Год назад +9

    The hole looks too big for the smaller birds. How would you clean the box out every year? Nice design I would suggest using dowels in the bottom that could be pulled out and replaced when its needs cleaning.

      Also add drainage in the bottom. Birds can get fluffed out. I skip the perch because it makes it easier predator birds to attack the nest.

      also check birding websites for what interior volume is good for local birds to go along with hole size. Might help sell them if you could tell a customer what kind of birds would be attracted to the house.

  • @drrupertbleemal

    No perch needed if this is a real birdhouse for wild birds. Gives big birds a place to sit and get the baby birds out of the house. If decoration, then it makes no deifference.

    In the bird box, rough up the inside wall below the exit hole so the baby birds can climb to the hole. 5:20

  • @redpine8665
    @redpine8665 Год назад

    That needs vent holes near the top on all 4 sides so it doesn't get stifling hot, and it needs drain holes on the bottom for waste and in case rain gets in. Good workmanship though.

  • @garycorey7668
    @garycorey7668 Год назад +2

    Should put the glue in the hole then insert the dowel. Reduces the glue squeeze out

    • @brianhewitt8897
      @brianhewitt8897 Год назад

      Shouldn’t put a dowel in at all. Small birds don’t need it but larger birds could use it to attack the nest inside.

      The only time he didn’t use one was when his fingers were well clear of the blade. I don’t see any reason for you to call him a fool though; that’s just plain rude. That being said, you are right to stress shop safety. Almost every woodworker, at some point, will get too relaxed around their saw and as a result will lose some flesh… the hard and painful way. Ask me how I know. 😖

    • @jameela.bandali9044
      @jameela.bandali9044 Год назад +1

      @@timdoyon1964 fair point re: name calling. I was in a mood but you're right, I shouldn't have and so have edited my comment to focus on the real issue which is doing things safely. That board he was cutting in the first project was small and light enough, and his fingers weren't that far - that even the slightest bit of lateral force could have made the pieces fly and pull his hand to the blade.
