There's a pretty star on the points on the inside, is it possible to reverse the unit and have that pattern on the outside?

I think it is possible with glue.

Do you use sjything else to secure the units? Ive struggled to attach more than 10 units, before it fully falls apart

You can use glue or removable tape. I use glue for first 10 units.
