I'm only 24 minutes into the conversation but I have so many questions! 😂. I'll keep watching, maybe you two will answer the questions I have. I just can't wrap my brain around this much work lol
You and I shoot in a very similar way ... shooting efficiently, shooting for editing, and also using only 1 64gb card per wedding! I am ALL about efficiency. Brava! :)
This was incredibly refreshing!! I feel like Kelly gives us permission to be a photographer who doesn’t do exactly what everyone else does. I’m honestly so so relieved with my own business decisions after this interview. Thank you both for this!!
Thank you so much for this! I’ve been part of the KJ group since 2020 and last year I had 7 which was my best but this year so far only one. My husband is hesitant at me continuing past this year. I took on a whole rebrand and got educated with seo in January so I’m optimistic as already my rankings are moving up. This video really gave me a relief that I still have time to get it right. I have been part time working for a company since 2019 to take care of my son and now I just can’t imagine going full time for this company and dropping photography. Thanks again to you both for your insight.❤
My take on those not thinking 90 is possible is that a regular job (9-5) is 40 hrs a week for 52 weeks. Equating to 2080 hrs a yr, 260 days at said job. 90 wedding at 10 hrs each is 900 hrs in the field and the rest of the time is working from home. So 90 days at weddings and even if it’s 100 days editing and calling and emailing is still only 190 days of ‘work’ for substantially more than a 9-5 offers. To be a wedding photographer and have equal or possibly better income than a dr or lawyer speaks for itself in most likely less time than a dr or lawyer works. Something that gets lost in the mix is that hard work always pays off. And someone will always be willing to do the long days or do quadruple wedding weekends or whatever it takes to be successful. And that can never be taken away. Love you Kel!! ❤❤
last year we did 114 elopements and 30 huge weddings..plus 40 family sessions and too many to count product / studio photos. We are on track to do the same this year. Just me and my wife with daughter doing the bookings. Oh, we do floral, officiating and lite coordination as well. Crazy wonderful. Love this KJ...Just about the only person I (have time to) watch!
loved listening to this, both of you are such dolls and fun to be with! I looked up Kelly images the moment she popped on because I was unfamiliar with her and full stop her images are gorgeous. There are so many styles right now that I think are deemed artsy in the photography world, but this proves that clients ultimately are drawn to timeless stunning images and the person who is doing them!! Huge lesson there that truly doesn't change with time despite all the photography trends!
Amazing!!! This is so inspiring and such a unique mindset! Also I love the video podcast format…it’s easier for me to pay attention to videos than just the audio! Thanks for sharing!!
My first wedding was for a friend. Since then every wedding I have done, someone has approached me to do their wedding. I only took up photography as a hobby in 2017. I have tried Landscape but I love the emotion that comes from people. I have learnt how to edit RAW files myself and which edits I prefer. I edit with Affinity Photo which has everything you need in a one payment programme. It is interesting to hear how others got into photography.
I must say this was a fun video to watch. Real. Your energies are contagious! You guys should do a shoot together … that would be super fun experience you guys click!
This is so useful, Katelyn So much good content .., very grateful I’m considering photography as a side hustle and then if I do well I would like to do full time. I’m 53 😅. I feel the age is a big barrier but I somehow don’t think 53 is an age..😂I’m equally eager to learn and grow .., I’m going to try
As A videographer, it seems most photographers use maybe 2 lenses a day. I've shot over 100 weddings and am still surprised I've had less than 100 photogs use a 70-200. Beautiful lens, so under utilized. I have 3 myself. I feel like it's a missed opportunity especially during ceremonies. So many photogs seem stuck to their 35mm and don't know what to do if they have to be far back in Catholic ceremony or something.
We need more interviews with KJ groupies!! This was so fun and relaxing and interesting!
Ahhh thank you so much for having me!! This was so much fun!
Would love to see a video about your Workflow 🥰
I also listened to you on Kyle's podcast! Very cool
Kelly, your instagram is great and photo a very KJ style. You could totally charge more!

Love this, I wish I could get more off-season weddings. It's hard here in Maine, not many people want to get married in the winter.
This was so refreshing to watch! I feel like I can relate to her so much. And I don’t feel so “not on the same level” as everyone

This was really so good !
So excited for this!! Thank you for sharing!
Age doesn’t matter..I am 67 and people can’t believe my energy. They see it as experience..
Great podcast. Sadly I’m 55 and a new professional portrait photographer - not weddings. Hopefully I’m not too far last my prime
#Metoo and I'm a male.
This is so useful, Katelyn

That’s Kelly Sea. I’ve seen her work here in New Jersey. Would love to work with her as a third or second someday
Loved it!

Great video. Wanted to watch most of it... but the dog made it impossible for me.
