  • The Clock Workout is one of the many 5 minute workouts from my book Feel Better in 5. Much of our lives are spent moving our bodies in only one direction. Whether we’re sitting on a chair, flexing our neck up and down to look at screens or moving between floors by going up and down stairs, we’re drastically limited in our range of motions. Our bodies were designed to move in 3 dimensions, yet modern life forces us to largely move in only one. The Clock Workout is a series of 3 movements that can help with general body mobility, shoulder problems, elbow pain, hip stiffness and back discomfort. They are also brilliant for those of us who like to be active but spend a lot of time during the day sitting down.
For detailed written instructions on how to do each movement, please see pages 179-185 of my book, Feel Better in 5. amzn.to/2G0XK7l
This video demonstrates the third and final movement in 'The Clock Workout’ - it is called Core Clock. This exercise moves your whole body in a variety of different directions It strengthens and mobilises your abdominal, back and shoulder muscles, as well as your spine. It is a brilliant whole body movement that can be really helpful if you have pain and stiffness in your body at the end of a bisulphate working day or as a great warm-up before you do something more active, such as going for a bike ride, a walk or a run.
There are many variations to this movement to make it easier or more challenging depending on your ability level. Give the Core Clock a go and let me know below how you get on.

The clock workout is a wonderful idea! I have alread tested the shoulder and lunge movements (which I have liked and repeated) and am going to try out the core variation tonight. A longer sequence of variations of simular but different movements, easy to memorize, logical to the body. Congratulations and thank you!

A great concept actually. I work in a gym and view exercise very differently from my colleague's, I love movement vs just shortening everything and aching for days. Flow sequences are very fun, and I will definitely be incorporating this in to my flow training, awesome work. Subscribed to due this amazing content, thank you 😃
