Since the 4070S has about 15% more performance than the 4070 but only costs 10% more, it is the better choice. It should be well suited for undervolting/oc, as the power limit of the founder edition was only increased by 10% compared to the 4070, with 20% more shader units. Anyone who lends a hand here should be able to achieve the performance of the 4070 ti.
What a great video! Bought the 4070 couple of months ago, and this little 4 minute update was exactly what i needed to know about the new lineup. I'm sure if you keep this up, you will end up with test units from the big boy companies som day! :D
Thanks for the logical and thoughtful commentary David, Yes I did purchase an Asus Dual 4070 Super and enjoy its performance upgrade immensely. I think it's the best performance/Watt GPU that Nvidia has at this price point with the 4000 series. (Upgraded from a Pascal chip @ 1440p) 4070ti levels of performance at the power sipping original 4070. Happy Gaming! Cheers!
I got the Asus Dual 4070super *EVO* version to fit in a small case, but it's not doing as well with black screen freezing and some flickering. So it looks like it is going back and I will have to get a larger case to fit either the one you got or maybe a MSI Gaming X Slim - just depends which is cheaper.
