I personally never missed the bind button. WiFi worked great for me. I guess it is just another option which is cool.
I never clicked on a video from you so fast.
Faster than on the bind button.
😂 you know it!
Haven't really tried myself, according ExpressLRS there are 4 options to bind now: 1. BindPhrase via WebUI or during flash - We already knew. 2. Bind Button - Joshua just explained. 3. 3x power cycle will put the receiver in bind mode as well - I was not aware of. And 4. Bind-Button in BF configurator 10.10 or bind_rx CLI command with BF 4.5 - Didn't know as well... so in the end, plenty of options even if the receiver does not have a bind button
I’d still be lost without Bardwells elrs videos.
Same.
Have i always missed that land now tattoo? Rad!
It's been there a long while lol
@@krazed0451 Well it was not there on the News stream 3 weeks ago, but on the last FPV News on week ago it was. So yeah a long while :p
@@toniqfpv Lol, I could have sworn I saw it on older videos, but I must have gotten muddled up xD
Sweet! Thanks a bunch, Joshua! 😃
And thanks ELRS devs!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I'm not sure if my Rx's even have a bind button. They're buried so deep in my frames I couldn't push it if I wanted to. I don't know why you ever would actually want to. Bind phrase is awesome
I've struggled to make elrs work for yrs 😂. I've actually stayed with tbs for that exact reason
Subscribed to your Patreon sir! Thanks for all your extremely educational content!
Awesome, thank you!
Don't expect a reply from anyone but as a child I flew control line models, the RC guys were the ones with money to build and fly big model planes. 5 years ago I took ineterest again into this hobby and bought a Yuneec camera drone which was easy to fly and that kindled the hobby again, bought a Spektrum DX9 radio and the QQ190 Falcon RTF drone and (so I thought) set it up and tried to fly it and it was like trying to stop an out of control child and found it crashing all the time. Life happend and had to drop it for 3 years then tried again and still couldn't get it to fly and had bought a few more carbon drone kits and components to build by own, still couldn't get the QQ190 to fly properly, recently tried again and found an old video you made that briefly mentioned about setting up a Spektrum DX6 in Betaflight and I had an epiphany moment when you mentioned the end points and settting the lower and upper values to 1000 and 2000 for all the channels as mine were nowhere near those values. Have done that now which also solved the reason why my quad wouldn't arm which was the reason I was looking all this up initially. I now have a working quad that hovers without drifting violently one way or another, goes left when I stick left and right when I stick right and basically goes the way it should go as I also didn't realise that 2 channels have to be reversed which you mentioned, thanks for allowing me to finally get stuff to work as it should do.
About time although cycling the power 3X also is cool 😎
I just connect and disconnect the battery 3 times to get it to go to bind mode
Never even gone into binding phrases and stuff like that.
I’ve done this with multiple brands of elrs receivers and it works
Thank you for all the knowledge included in this and other videos! I can't become a patron, but I'll help you anyway 😉
Shorting that EP2 pad *is* super hard! 😂 Also, holding the button for longer will go to WiFi mode, or hold it until it reboots to completely reset the receiver config!
I wonder how long before flashing an RX from an edgetx radio is possible ;)
@@terminsane 😆If only there was some high-speed way to flash an RX without having the forethought to somehow magically have the correct firmware on your EdgeTX SD card... oh there is!
Just put the firmware on your phone and flash through the RX webui, or if you don't have the firmware, download it from the web flasher. This solution is 10x better and faster than any "Flash RX from EdgeTX" could be.
every time i see an ad on your videos i watch the whole thing to contribute my part since i cant donate for your great informitive content
For what it's worth, it doesn't matter if you skip.
It certainly took them long enough. I hate when you have to keep plugging and unplugging your battery until your receiver is ready to bind. Thanks for the video JB! :)
Hmm? Just plug, wait for the wait cycle you've configured and wifi will turn on. Then bind via web UI or by flashing. No need to plug and unplug.
I thought I saw a video on this from you before I haven’t been in the loop for a while though new puppy=no flying
If you tin the pads, they're easier to bridge
Sorry for offtopic
I recently purchased the goggles Integra for my mini 3 Pro and when I fly without recording the quality and MBs are high, but once I click record it drops significantly and becomes laggy. I use an RC controller with a screen (not the Motion Controller).
Thanks for your help!
I just replaced my crsf receiver to get rid of big tx16s and a tbs module. Bought a Boxer radio and use ELRS receiver. Never need a bind button till a month ago. I updated my receiver with the new 3.4 firmware. After that I have no light in my receiver.😮 I think I need a new receiver now.
Do you think you could make a programming video on the red analog drone
I clicked flash and my rx grew a button.
10/10 would fly again
So, when you have a DIFFERENT bind phrase, and us use the button, does it NOW have your bind phrase? Meaning do I have to keep using the button, or will it bind automatically next power cycle? I'm asking because a buddy and I want to fly each other's tiny whoops just to try out, and have been looking for a way to make it simple to do. We have aligned on the Radio ch setup in betaflight, and even have each OTHER's rates on rate 3...
The RX takes the bind phrase from the module. That's what binding is.
sir is it okay to buy a used fpv controller. if it is okay then which thing i should consider before buying it.
love you great content sir. love from Bangladesh
Them pads on the EP(X)'s look perilously close to the pins of the chip. I'm not sure I'd want to risk fat-fingering this and blowing it. Going WIFI seems easier and safer to me, personally. As you say: Maybe just go with buttons. But nice to have it pointed out, for the back pocket.
Dang that took like 3 years…
Just power cycle 3 times, no need for binding phrases or bind buttons.
Use model match with Lia script?
The only way to change the model number. 01 is though the (on line) 10.0.0.1
Does your DIY beginner walksnail kit ship to South-Africa?
You need to check with getfpv to answer that.
Doesn't work for me... I have an ER5C-I receiver, flashed with V3.4.2 and as soon as I go into the webui it shows that the receiver was ever bound (while it was just flashed and never bound). If I change the bound phrase, just like in the video, after saving it immediately indicates that it has been bound again at some point......
The reason I am working with the bind button is that according to Oscar Liang's website since version 3.4, the bind button can also reset the receiver if you hold it down for at least 15 seconds. I can't manage that either, which is very annoying because I have 5 receivers from an estate and I have no idea how they are set up.
I have the feeling that the work is not finished yet with the bind button.....
@Joshua Bardwell I have 5 drones with different ELRS receivers and currently they all have the same binding phrase and can all be connected to the radio at the same time. I once had such a strange situation: I connected one drone to my phone via a USB-C cable to catch satellites, and instead of waiting "30 seconds" for the receiver to switch to Wi-Fi mode, I launched another drone and wanted to fly it a little further. Unfortunately, I noticed that even at a distance of 2-3 km, the radio did not switch the transmitter from 25mW to higher values, because the second receiver on the ground had a "very good range". This situation made me realize that all my drones can be connected to the radio at the same time. How to make sure that each model in the radio has only one drone (ELRS receiver) assigned to it? It used to be possible with crossfire by changing the receiver number on each model on the radio? But is the same thing possible with elrs?

@@JoshuaBardwell thanks I did it exactly as you showed on your video but unfortunately it didn't solve my problem because even though one drone is connected correctly and sent far away, the other drone, which is not compliant with model matching, still somehow has some kind of connection to the radio. This is enough to make the radio go stupid, and then it sees that the connection is strong because it has full coverage from the drone lying next to it. I hope I explained this well. I remember that there was no such a problem with Crossfire. Of course I can live with that but I need to remember not to turn on second drone before the first one is on wifi mode.
The button always looked like a barometer to me. The button looks like a hole lol
You mean to tell me that bind button never worked until now?! Wow and here I thought I just wasn't doing it right 😅
Why do you need a button if you can bind it with bind phrase???
Personally, I agree.
Finally my binding phrase can go bi bi 👋
Oh cool! I have to admit to not even inspecting it close enough to notice it's a button. I'd love to try it. Except I went to turn on my drone today and got the betaflight OSD but no video in my goggles... sooooooo yeah :/
Sounds like a problem with your camera. If you see osd, the fc and vtx are working
@@terminsane I'm hoping you're right because I bought just a new mipi cable and camera instead of the whole smash. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Check your camera wires and plugs .
Or lens cap
@@gregorydahl I wish it was just the cap! Then it would be black Instead no video being transmitted at all. Despite it saying it's connected and in low-power mode pre-arm. I wasn't even rough with this thing and it's never crashed :/
My goodness...it's 2024 and they finally sorted their bind button 😂🤣
Bind without having to flash firmware, step one, flash new firmware lol. I understand there is an application for this, like if you have multiple Tx with different Bind phrases etc. ELRS FTW.
And eventually 3.4 will be the default on new hardware. But this is a new feature. Obviously you have to get the new firmware to make it work.
Can we disable the bind button so we don't accidentally press it?
What happens if a twig hits the button during a crash?
You can disable the button entirely, but you don't need to. If a twig hits the button by some one in a million chance, just hit bind on your radio and boom you're bound again
Im not falling for that . Thise elrs s things are stsying in their boxes 🙉
finally lol
Awesome video Bardwell and this suits me good as i just swapped from frsky to ELRS the winter season :D
btw...
Im new to FPV and just posted my first video, more videos are coming soon. Please consider giving me a like :D
I really don't get it. I always found binding with buttons a big big hassle. With elrs, I just connect the stuff, wait for 30 seconds, connect to the web interface and set the bind phrase.... VS holding a lipo while with one hand, pressing the button with some tweezers with the other hand, trying to connect the battery with the hand that is already holding it with my other two fingers, and praying to the binding gods that I was actually pressing the button properly when I connected the battery. Then try to figure out if the led sequence is right... I feel some of you have been binding like this for so long that you don't longer realize that it's just not that easy. Binding through a Hotspot and a web interface is the most common approach nowadays for any IoT device.
Having to flash is another thing, ok, but at this point you have to flash to have the binding button working, so it just doesn't make any sense until they come pre-shipped with this version. And if they do, you don't have to flash it to put the bind phrase so.. pointless. I hope you all are happy about it, but stop pretending this was a hassle and now you are saved
With bindphrases now I have two radios, both with the same bindphrase and a single model, and I can switch between radios and all my quads Seemlessly. Going back to bind buttons is just retrograde
No more WiFi bull crap????? Well, still have to update it.......
Well, you had me in the first half 😆
the most unimportant change that is promoted to be exciting for some reason. BLE telemetry for esp32 that many are using? Nah, bind button, thanks a lot. Or maybe fixing that sht that the bind phrase is lost and needs to be restored after I reflash my TX? Nah, stupid bind button, thanks a lot
The ELRS web UI is clearly a better solution. It's only the "old man shakes fist at sky" crowd that want bind buttons. If you go to a flying field where the boys are over 80 you'll hear them cursing those confounded bind buttons, everything was so simple when you just swapped the crystals!
They’re right though 😂
I grew up with my dad’s big box futaba radio with crystals for his RC car. It was dead simple to change channels lol! But good luck if someone is on your channel and you don’t have enough crystals to get another unused frequency lol.
@@Kleinage But.. you know you don't need to change channels with FHSS, right? Right?
@@jiatan_fpv it’s been 20 years since I used Futaba gear. It was like 72mhz stuff. So… nah I don’t know. I only have Frsky (barely use it) and ELRS now.
Edit- also, the gear was alread 20 years old. So think 1980s tech, and I was a teen who didn’t know much about the gear.
1st.
It should be called . Computer needed .
They told me default new would bind . They lied . Well , one out of 6 did bind . I wasted money on 3 modules micro, and 2 nano 9mhz and 2.4 ghz .
And a multiprotocol tx and batteries and time watching these
Is there any fpv simulator compatible with Dji rc n2 remote ......pls reply i once sent superchat @Joshua Bradwell
Yes. The rc2 is a standard pc game controller. You can use it with any simulator.
