- Every second Tuesday, we release a tech tip video that will give users information on various topics relating to our Storinator storage servers.
We learned a lot from this year's #creatorssummit including how to properly handle and take care of your hard drives (thanks to Alan Nagl of HDSTOR). We obviously deal with countless hard drives daily and we are always super careful, however, it doesn't hurt to pass this wisdom on to the community!
For this week's tech tip video, Brett is back to talk about the most important tips to consider when handling your hard drives (specifically when ordering with 45Drives).

Look at that fancy footwork! 4:51!
Thanks for the tips!
Believe it or not, that shuffle only took one take.
Nice job, Brett! This video is HDSTOR approved! 👍
Phewf! Thanks for the information Alan!
Heh, should I use a hard drive I just dropped on the concrete floor while juggling it?
@@JeffGeerling Well, what KIND of concrete?!
@@JeffGeerlingWe're going to have to consult with @alannagl1878 on that one.
don't forget to shuffle your feet :)
Cool tips! Other words don't do what Linus did on LTT when handling the hard drives. 😂
Perhaps you guys can do a video on how to move one of your servers that are full of drives.
This seems like something more common than not when migrating sites or racks.
Thank you.
You are absolutely right. Great idea.
Excellent Tech Tip! And timely, I will be picking up 8 HDD’s later today.
Phewf!
Not going to lie, thought you were going to include that one instance where Linus dropped a hard drive and really dented it.
**looks for footage**

Query: I have a cheap hard drive docking station in which the hard drives are inserted vertically, and removal entails pressing a button down to eject the hard drive almost like a toaster
Is this thing going to brutalize my drives?
First I coat my hands with a thick slathering of warm butter, then I apply slightly soapy water to the drive. Never been an issue.
I prefer all natural lard.
Mashed banana would work too.
Post a link to HD store Google comes up with nothing except Harley-Davidson
Disks are only grounded by their power connector wtf are you talking about?
