Shrimp their eyesight is very good. When i approach the side of the glass tank i regularly see them stopping with grazing to look back at me or they jump a step back
I dont mind if my animals hide personally, I actually really love shy species l rarely see because it feels special when I do.

I added 6 blue dream shrimps to my 5 gallon about a week ago to my tank, very well planted housed to my calm betta he was unfazed by them they disappeared the next day and I only saw 1 come out now I can’t find them at all
I was kind of having this problem too before 5-4 days but now all of the sudden all my cherry shrimps are out all day long, and molting in the open with no fear😆 although I have two Rams and a betta in the same tank. Rams did chased them for few days but stoped eventually. I think the reason they are out is, their hiding place was getting crowdy with kuhli loaches and hillstream loach. Anyways I am happy that they feel safe to come out and graze all over the tank.
Often, given time and plenty of hiding spaces, RCS are more than happy to come out and about. Glad yours are doing well 🦐

I have 10 cherry shrimp and they were always out, but I added 12 dwarf rasbora and now the only shrimp I ever see is the largest berried female. There are lots of plants and wood and leaf litter so I'm hoping they'll realize the rasbora won't hurt them and get comfortable again...because they're bigger than the fish LOL
Hopefully they will get used to the Rasbora and will start to come out and about again 🤞🏻
I've got a guppy/tetra tank with a couple of pleco's and a dozen shrimp in it and I see one or two shrimp every 3 weeks at the most. The daft thing is there's dozens of guppy fry in the tank at any one time, so nothing at all is eating them. There is tons of hiding places, bushes with tiny gaps, grasses and plants. I know they're there, but I never see them.

I have 6 blue shrimp in a 20 gallon and I hardly see them active in there. I let the tank mature for a couple months prior to adding them so there's plants and microorganisms in there thriving. It just seems like the shrimp aren't 😂 idk I'll give it more time it had only been a week.
Can I keep the following fishes with shrimps? I have 6 shrimps (2 red, 2 yellow and 2 blue) I have a 50.02-gallon tank, which is a low-tech plant tank.
Cardinal tetras
Black Mollys
Rummynose Tetra
Widow Tetra
Harlequin Rasbora
Hi. I keep shrimp with all of those fish. Just make sure you provide sufficient cover and hiding places for the shrimp. Black Mollies will certainly pick off any baby shrimp they come across.
I may be too late, but keep in mind having an assortment of colors of shrimp in one tank will mostly or entirely result in just wild colored shrimp.
Also I heard that cherry shrimp can do an early molt if they get stressed so how do I stop cherry shrimp from dong an early molt during taking it home during buying them from the store
I have heard of them having issues molting when they are stressed, but I have never experienced them molting BECAUSE they are stressed. 🤷🏻♂️🦐

@@FishKeepingAnswers I find that a large swing in pH from a large volume water change coincides with my neos molting prematurely, especially the older ones.
Learned it the hard way…a couple of times. 🫤
i now have over 100 cherry shrimp and cannot sell them because the platforms wont let me.
I don’t know where in the world you are, but does eBay allow you to sell shrimp where you live?

I only sell my shrimp through eBay. It has proved very lucrative here in the UK.

I bought 10 Mary off eBay, I never specified I wanted a mature or shrimplets, the seller decided to send me 10 shrimplets. Nevertheless, they were all eaten by the tetras.
I have some Tetra fishes some of them(well the most) tried to attack the shrimps are the tetras gonna stop attacking after some days?
Make sure your shrimp have plenty of hiding places in the form of rock piles, pieces of wood or live plants. I keep a thriving colony of Red Cherry shrimp with my Congo Tetras. It’s all about the hiding places 👍🏻
This rules is for any shrimp ? Or only for the red shrimp ?
They will pretty much apply to any shrimp, in my experience 👍🏻
I find they only do that when they molt

My skittles neocaridina shrimp tank has a lot of plants, is it too much. I can't seem to c them anywhere, there are no fish just shrimps 🤔
I have a 10 gal tank with about 10 cherry shrimp, 3 small guppies & 1 Kuhli loach (maybe 2 😇 tops) Ive spotted 2 or 3 heavelly pregnant cherry shrimp females last week but no signs of babies yet! I have few smaller/juveniles shrimp that live just fine & the tank is no joke 3/4 java moss at the moment. Is it possible 1 Kuhli loach (2 max) would be able to eat every egg or hatchling? Even if only 2 of 10 eggs survive adulthood, that would still seem very reasonable right? Im having trouble believing 1 Kuhli loach would go through all the eggs everytime & hopefully the babies r just hiding. The only darn reason the loach is even in there cuz its too thick to catch him. Any ideas? Thank yoy

Ninjas. They can get out of the way of a prowling fish very quickly. Plus, all that Java Moss sounds like baby shrimp heaven. However, Kuhli Loach are night hunters so they could be picking off SOME of the babies although ALL of them seems unlikely. I reckon, give it a week if two for the baby shrimp to grow a little larger and you will see them venturing out all around the tank 🤞🏻
My cherry shrimp are all over the tank... They do anything but hide... Some think they are fish.

Im on my week 3 of my tank cycle..currently i had a few freeloader bladder snail and recently 2 Malaya shrimp so that they can eat or reduce diatoms in the tank..these 2 shrimp like to hide and everytime, after work i frantically look for them lol..they do eat the diatoms but wont touch it if it too thick and long as it can tangled their limbs. Yesterday i manually remove some of the diatoms and few hours later they go and ate it. Btw i had a questiin, is it normal for shrimp generally, not to touch any of their food when introduced to a new tank?? Both my malaya shrimp didnt touch it except for algae and diatoms
I think if you add a few more shrimp you will find you see all the shrimp more often. They definitely do better in larger groups.
Also, in answer to your question, yes I do find they can be reluctant to eat immediately after being added to a new tank. After a few days they should settle and be more inclined to eat 👍🏻

One of my cherry shrimp decided to develop aggressive behavior against my betta fish, so I abducted him and put him in the shrimp tank and now they’re all hiding lol.

Hi I don't think any if these apply to me I have around 12 in a community tank with zebra danios and gold white cloud mountain minnows but most of the time only see 3 or 4 I can see molts in the tank but even when I check every spot there not there could there be any other possible reasons
Hello. I’ve got a tds meter. Is it possible for me to calculate the gh level in water tank or i need to use gh tester?
The problem you will find with a TDS meter is it measures EVERYTHING that is dissolved into your water. For gh I would recommend a dedicated gh liquid test 👍🏻
But i use RO water. Is it effect my tds too?

Should I be worried about adding CO2, iron, or micro-supplement that contain magnesium to my shrimp tank? I really want my plants to grow well.
None of the above should cause your shrimp any issues providing they are added in moderation. Follow the directions on a good quality aquatic plant fertiliser and you should be fine 👍🏻
