Willie Mason is a former Kangaroo and NSW representative, is considered one of the most successful front rowers in NRL history. In 2004, he was a part of the famous 'Dogs of War' team that won the Grand Final, and he also received the Clive Churchill Medal during that match.
Justin Horo is a former NRL player who played 120 games for Parramatta and Manly from 2010 to 2015. In addition to playing in the UK Super League, he also represented the New Zealand Māori team.

Kenty was the reason I watched 360 cos I knew he'd get stuck into the management at the clubs. Gordy had a similar style, but when he was challenged he would just double down instead of come up with some kind of logical argument. Experience in the game counts for something but it doesn't justify behaving like a block head

Without someone like that they won't tune in, they do not want informed insightful, intelligent discussions about NRL rugby league. They need a class 🤡 to entertain them.
I grew up with union, I was a die hard union fan, but after living in aus for the past few years I have embraced league, and I'm loving it! Podcasts like this are so much more interesting and more informative as opposed to watching "the breakdown" keep up the good work guys 👊

NRL 360 hasn't been the same since Ben Ikin left, he controlled the panel at a steady pace and cleverly knew when to apply gas or pull the brakes depending the situation. He complimented PK well too, where they played this good cop, bad cop routine. I really think they should bring a woman onto the panel, like Lara Pitt or Yvonne, it just feels a tad too intense as far as the personalities go on the panel as of late...just my 2 cents

Yeah I agree with the Ikin bit because i really enjoyed Ben but I think Braith does a great job. You just need that chaos factor in there as well and PK always provided that!
Kick off- Willy on point with work on technique not taking it out of the game. Also someone else said start rewarding the low leg tackle. Ball runner has to surrender for a bit longer or something like that.

Kudos on the Paul Kent piece… no one in footy media is really talking about it. I get that they’re colleagues but how many times have we seen Paul Kent, Buzz etc throw other ppl in the game under the bus… live by the sword , die by the sword 🗡️
Great episode lads, have to agree with mason about there having to be more responsible on defenders to use better technique, it seems a lot of the recent rule changes or additions have been made on the back of poor technique or made to benefit struggling teams.
As much as I like the idea of the six man bench but still only using 4, I think they should look at what the top teams are doing before changing anything.
Prime example would be storm and Penrith that have that proper utility on the bench in Dane Laurie and Tyran Wishart.
The best example would be Laurie for Penrith, we sacrifice one of our seventeen players for Laurie because he can cover 1-7, most games he'll play less than five minutes but the rest of the team is good enough to cope technically being a man short.
All teams should aspire to be that fit before we go changing the structure of the game, do you guys agree with any of this or have something to add?

What about keep the kick off but have the in goal idea so you can take a tap at the 30.
OR
If you do a short kick off and it lands between the 40 & 30 then the team that catches the ball only gets 4 tackles instead of 6. Then there is an attacking advantage for the kicking team but not a disadvantage for kicking short.

Hey boys, the Rev here, just a questions that I think about most games.
How much coaching do you think goes into captain challenge calls?
The amount of times I see 50/50 calls being challenge in first half that are called unsuccessful which then are unable to challenge in the more crucial final 20 mins of the game.
Some teams seem to be a lot less careful with them, whereas teams like Melbourne seem to have much more clear guidelines as to what they challenge, and always seem to keep it up their sleeve for later in the game.
I know gaining momentum in any way is a huge advantage, but would you be challenging anything in non crucial moments of the game unless it was extremely blatant?

Hey boys been loving for poddy since mid 2023. Good chat about the tackle technique and hitters by Mase. What is the best, most simple way to instruct young kids to do a group tackle these days? If one on one, what should the defender do? Stand tall and wrap up the ball? I’ve just started coaching junior footy and it’s obviously a bit more complex these days than just tackle round the legs. Hey Scope! I would genuinely purchase a ‘Scope’ or ‘Levels’ branded extendable telescope.
I’d love the novelty of whipping it out of my pocket to get a zoom in of the boys at the game just like they did with binoculors back in the day. I remember my Pa doing this down at North Sydney oval when I was a kid.
I’d really HAM it up too because I don’t mind a bit of silly buggers. But I can honestly see a crowd full of people getting their scopes out when the ref blows a shit penalty and they need a closer inspection or maybe I wanna see my boy Addo-Carr dart in for his 5th up close and personal. Up the Dogs btw!

Disagree with Mase here, and 100% agree with Scope. Should have the bench set up like the premier league and have a mobile utility back and forward as a 17th and 18th Man. but you are still only allowed to use the 4 interchanges. That pretty much ruined origin for NSW in game 2 last year
Here’s a question for yas, do teams plan which prop they’re going to kick it to from the kick off and if so what factors come into making the decision? Also in your playing days, were there any props teams would avoid kicking off towards. Cheers
I think the main problem with head knocks now is that teams don’t teach good tackle technique at young ages anymore it’s all about the wrestle and dirty play we need to reward legs tackles more to stop this poor technique

Hey boys just curious on some thoughts on souths, writing this just as Edwards sets up May’s try, yes theres injuries prior to this game and more during it, blokes playing out of position etc but the effort and attitude shown right there is disgraceful. As a souths diehard watching this it’s tough going. What can you put it down to and how can they fix it?
