Valerie At The Gallery - By Randy Bowles I encountered Valerie, At a high-end gallery. That’s when she won my heart. I was staring at a painting That made no sense, She said you dig my art! I said, it’s the greatest, Of all time. Your use of color is so sublime. I fear I don’t know what it means. When it comes to art I don’t know beans. Those colors represent My inner child. No, it’s my psyche, It’s gone wild! Or maybe it’s the sun, Exploding in space. Perhaps it’s God, And that’s his face. I haven’t decided, So it’s untitled. But you dig it, And that’s what’s vital. Let’s have tea And talk about art. Get better acquainted, Over lemon tart. She said I’ll paint you, But it’ll be surreal. Some paint what they see, I paint what I feel. So I sat for her, And it came out weird. She gave me 3 eyes and a Long green beard. Though her paintings Made no sense to me, I fell in love most instantly. She caught the vibe, And we fell hard. We formed a team, Artist and bard. Now I’m paired with Valerie, In our apartment gallery. Best thing ever happened to me. There’s a hundred paintings, I don’t know what they mean, But when it comes to art, I don’t know beans!
By the way, the painting you see in the background is a muted but weird abstract that was hanging on the wall in the senior building I call home. I borrowed it! It's back hanging in the hall...
Thanks Steve. I like to draw a complete circle in some of my songs -- story songs like this. I think I did that here. It usually happens by accident. But I'm learning how to encourage those accidents. ;) This is my favorite of everything I've gave birth to over the last 2 years. I'm hoping to have an audience to sing it to on Thursday.

I encountered Valerie,
At a high-end gallery.
That’s when she won my heart.
I was staring at a painting
That made no sense,
She said you dig my art!
I said, it’s the greatest,
Of all time.
Your use of color is so sublime.
I fear I don’t know what it means.
When it comes to art
I don’t know beans.
Those colors represent
My inner child.
No, it’s my psyche,
It’s gone wild!
Or maybe it’s the sun,
Exploding in space.
Perhaps it’s God,
And that’s his face.
I haven’t decided,
So it’s untitled.
But you dig it,
And that’s what’s vital.
Let’s have tea
And talk about art.
Get better acquainted,
Over lemon tart.
She said I’ll paint you,
But it’ll be surreal.
Some paint what they see,
I paint what I feel.
So I sat for her,
And it came out weird.
She gave me 3 eyes and a
Long green beard.
Though her paintings
Made no sense to me,
I fell in love most instantly.
She caught the vibe,
And we fell hard.
We formed a team,
Artist and bard.
Now I’m paired with Valerie,
In our apartment gallery.
Best thing ever happened to me.
There’s a hundred paintings,
I don’t know what they mean,
But when it comes to art,
I don’t know beans!
She painted you with 3 eyes? Reminds me of Picasso! Nice song and sweet story! 😀'.
