Dude modern audiences who are enjoying this who haven't read the books don't know that. Relax. If you don't like it don't watch. That's the only way this show will be canceled. The books will always be there to enjoy. That's why it's called an adaptation. Tolkien fans who hate this show are so close minded.
All races in Tolkien's works are humanized. It can't deliver the magic in the book. It can be watched as an adventure series. But it is not a Middle Earth series.
Do you know what, with all the whinging about beardless female dwarves and the skin colour of the cast etc etc etc... as if DEI and political nonsense was an actual thing to worry about in an entertainment story... I happened to really enjoy the first series... not perfect by any means but it was certainly entertaining and in my eyes at least didn't deserve the slating it got in some corners of the internet. I'm looking forward to season 2!
It was incompetent children taking a dump on the legacy of one of the most creative and original works of genius in all of human history. This is not worthy of being associated with that work and as a piece of entertainment was extremely unentertaining. But if you or anyone else enjoyed it then all the power to you.
As someone who likes to dig deep into the lore of Middel Earth and the history there of. I was very dissapointed with the first season.. But watched every episode. The one thing I couldnt get out of my mind is that if they really wanted to put down their own story and stray from the already there lore.. Why even use LOTR rights? I will watch season 2. Every episode. And I hope!!! Ill enjoy it

Haven't started season 2 still. Rewatched se1 to remind myself was it really that bad. I honestly tried not to hate it. But yes, it is bad, or mediocre at least. Just lacks all the spirit and emotion that original trilogy has. Only thing memorable are the scenes from War of Wrath and maybe Elrond - Durin dynamics. I'll start se2 tonight, hopefully things turn to better.
The hate is well deserved for season 1, terrible writing. I know some people liked it, if i were you I'd watch some breakdown videos to help you see what everybody else is seeing.
