Karl, I found your channel a few months ago. Love your videos. I have been in India 4 times, I love this country. Soon I will be 61 and I hope I will return to this lovely country. Regards from Perú 🇵🇪
Why? For every one Karl Rock there are a thousand failures. There's nothing wrong with a 9-5 as long as you do something that makes you either happy or makes you feel accomplished. I've seen plenty of people drop everything to go to an "hourless" lifestyle, and they end up even more lost and trapped, as they get pulled in too many directions. Karl, on the other hand, was focused on doing something specifically, learning about India, and then expressing what he learned, and let's be honest, you can't learn everything about a country and it's people in just 8 hours morning to afternoon. His choice made sense and made use of that time, and if it works, great, but don't do it because of the hype behind dropping the "9-5" lifestyle. Do it if it aligns with your goals of time management.

Karl, thank you so much! I’m nearly in tears, and an everlasting battle with substance abuse. I like that you started with a passion for music/audio from the study of engineer, production, to the mere love and luck of tapping into a scene that was taking off to push one another to create sounds and rhythms that was honest to your people and history of New Zealand! I unfortunately had to read and study songwriting on my own. I came from Houston, Texas where money in my family was scarce. Houston, TX struggled so much just so we get to see bands and acts that other countries seemed to have no issue striding them along. As I got older I wanted to promote and let everyone past and upcoming. And to let audiences experience the Latino/Brazil. I do anything to help!
To your young subscriber that wants to build his confidence, there’s an expression that everything you’ve always wanted is on the other side of fear. I’ve found confidence in moving towards the things I’m afraid of. Doing things that seem out of reach & scary when you accomplish them gives you an enormous boost of confidence.
Absolutely correct !! Although I slogged corporate/govt life until a year ago to take the path I wanted not what everyone else expected, btw I'm in my early 60's. Well done Karl!
a lot of wisdom in this video. often i never think about how i am making someone elses dream come true (working for a company), but i totally am. thanks karl for sharing your life and experiences, i love learning from the wisdom of others.
Hey man, I thank you sincerely for this video taking your time explaining these things makes me inspired to do something good. I had a lot of trouble thinking about my purpose on this world watching videos like this gives me inspiration to be courageous and confident in whatever I do. Lots of love and thank you ❤❤❤
It is so relieving to hear sentences like ~i found my path with 30-32~. I don't know if that's usual but i'm 23 and i'm putting my self under so much pressure - i guess i already did when i was 16 - it just always felt like "if you don't catch the train early, you never will" - what is getting more and more wrong the older i get feltwise. Obviously this does not mean u can be lazy and do nothing... What i just wanted to say is thank you for sharing your story and motivating people with such a honest and inspiring mindset. Greetings from Switzerland :)
You’re one of the best RUclipsrs i watch!! Quality content, authentic and very helpful. And of course, inspirational! Thanks Karl! Keep doing what you’re doing :) Love from the Philippines 🇵🇭💗
Karl, this touched me in so many ways. I'm at that point where I'm going to take that leap away from corporate work to my dreams...but ironically those dreams are in the music business! It just tore my heart to hear that you found those years ultimately boring and draining, but I do understand in a way because as a musician, I constantly waver between wanting to be at a desk helping artists, or being the artist on stage. I also completely empathise with how you felt "voiceless" in an office setting. You put into words exactly how I feel everyday at my office job, and exactly what I think RUclips and other socials are so great for: being able to find your voice, and building a community with others who have been dying to express their ideas as well. Congratulations and THANK YOU for sharing this with us - absolutely inspirational for those of us who are about to make that freedom jump!
Karl, thanks for sharing this... you've done so much and now are a great representative for India... a beautiful country with beautiful people, tainted only by a small percentage that are scammers and the throes of an income gap that drags society up and down. Cops that take bribes... but still India is beautiful and I owe a lot of gratitude to the work that you do!
This video was exactly what I needed, thank you. Im 29 and left my "corporate" job in finance to pursue something else. Still trying to figure out what something else looks like but ill get there.
Karl to corporate life: "Nahi chahiye ji" 😅 I'm also a 26 year-old experimenting with my career. With this video, you've given me the confidence to continue pursuing my passion. Thank you Karl!
"Not be afraid to be yourself", soo true and far from easy, and your journey shows that it's possible 🙏 I really am so happy I bumped onto your channel years ago. I've been watching you ever since. Your channel is even better now that Manisha pops up sometimes. You two are so great together, बहुत अच्छा 😁!
Great video and especially useful to those who are wondering how to use their talents. Two big take aways for me: 1. You are prepared to take responsibility for what you do and the risks you take - you are never looking to blame anyone or play victim. Taking ownership is absolutely crucial to any success. 2. You reflect upon and learn from your past decisions and don't dwell on any regrets. Looking ahead with hope is another key to personal growth. :)
Let me just say -I love helping people, I also like technology as fustrating as it mght be . a lot of the reasons you left the 9 - 5 work is the same why I don't want a 9 - 5 job in the first place ... I like variety I would love to travel someday, even go to india ... I like the raw everyday expiriences - seeing how people live seeing some of the buildings (not the touristy crap so much) ... I hope to help people one day .
You have such deep insight - thank you for this - this is exactly what a lot of people need to here - spend the time to build your knowledge and skills - follow your passion but learn from all things.
The only reason i genuinely like your channel is because you are not those type of youtubers who just upload just to satisfy their own needs but instead you upload awareness videos and educate those who dont know about certain things it is a good initiative and not many people chose to do it *Thank You!*
I really respect your work sir, and I admire your passion for what you're doing is really great , and it indeed must be satisfactory living the life you always wanted to , Thank you very much for showing the real india to the world ❤️ I got to know about you from my Albanian girl friend , who is really interested in our country , I hope you visit sikkim ( that's where I live) after the pandemic gets over and I surely would love to give you my time . SWEET WANDERINGS BY EDWIN TORO here! KARL you have just added more fuel to my fire about leaving COLOMBIA and every person behind and heading out to INDIA for the long haul at minute 12 of this video. THANK YOU bro'! MUCHAS GRACIAS HERMANITO!
Hi Karl, I agree with you. Self confidence brings the freedom, along with the experience, and lessons learned. We all didn't do everything perfect, I remember myself travelling alone to Asia. But not everything is bad and negative and good memories remain. Again, I found too, not being just 'a YES man' makes keeping the confidence high, people who agree with everything don't get anything, as it becomes difficult to say no. I appreciate your videos about India. Making good things for others is rewarding. We need to find our own ways. Well done.
We are in our 9th year in India, but we wish so many of these would have been here when we first came. Thank you for your service, via sharing real-life experiences, in confidence

Karl, I am older than you, may be by 10+ years or so. But I have to say, this video sort explained to me what really matters in life. Having that courage to try out different things and finding out what you really like is something that I admire in you. I wish you all the best in your life.
yeah you know what, you made me realise that sometimes you can do whatever you want to do, go wherever you want etc, and take a risk :), this has given me more balls, to do what I want to do, and ignore my family/friends trying to stop me :) thank you thank you friend, atleast im not the only one who feels this way.
You are an inspiration. I could listen to you talk to the locals for hours ! How fluent you are in their language, It’s beautiful . I loved the video when you interviewed your wife about her skin condition as how it doesn’t affect her that’s inspirational as-well. She is a loverly lady . I love watching your videos keep going my friend 😊🙏🏻
Well done Karl! Your story is very unique, inspiring and one that bolsters the fact that when someone is truly passionate about what they are doing the fulfillment and joy that brings is unparalleled. More power to you and keep breaking norms and kudos for being authentic!
Karl .. I look back at my life and I always had a 9 to 5 job. My life is full of "maybe's". I don't know what I really would like to do in life. Even if I knew, because there are several things I'd really love to do , I have a big mountain to climb, and it's a big risk for my family. I have almost everything I wish for, but I think I wished the wrong things ?! Shit .. I'm 40 and I wish I had the courage to do what you did ?! It's always nice to hear some advices from a guy that's from the farest country from mine ( New Zealand / Portugal ) ;-) Keep up the good work .. You are a nice man. Cheers from Lisbon
Confidence comes when you start trusting yourself.. The best thing I heard today !! I am a big fan of yours and really appreciate your help in educating people Karl. Not just foreigners, even Indians learn a lot of things from your videos. I would like to meet you someday when I come to Delhi :)
Thanks for sharing. Another great video form You with a lot of good advice to youngers. Thumbs UP, and keep up the great work you do on youtube! Soon a million followers, amazing fun, Karl. Very happy for You!!
Wow man, I totally get it. I love your background; I bet knowing Hindi makes you a very good at customer relations. I first found you by Reddit the speaking to people with a surprise language (video). Thanky you for continuing to try to fix humanity. :)
You've had a good experience in entertainment industry before RUclips and you are still working in the same domain so you've been following passion right from start.
You are an inspiration to us as well. I really enjoy watching your videos espcially the ones about scammers. Plus now i got to know that Michael Jackson was your idol growing up which makes me relate to you even more. Keep making great videos my friend, you are the living example of my favourite lyric from an MJ song Man in the Mirror, "if you wanna make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make that change".
This is so pure and transparent video about your life and you taking control of it. It's videos like these that give me more strength to juggle both my tech career and acting until the time is right ;) Thanks Karl!
Great insight Karl, thank you! I am kind of in a similar situation right now (at least in my thoughts w/out talking about it to anyone). Working in IT my whole life, after finishing university. I am 35 now and I dont feel doing this for the rest of my life. My girlfriend has relatives in indonesia and I really dream about living there. Just taking the risk, what could I lose? As you said, I could always go back home (germany) and work in IT again. I'd really like a follow-up-video how you started living in india. How much money did you save up to move to india? What was your plan when you arrived? How did you start the first months or so? Keep up the great videos! You're one of my favorite people I watch on yt.
Actually, I wrote a book about it and my first few months in India... But got to busy with RUclips. Might look back at it today and do something with it

You're not only helping foreigners but also Indians. Keep Going!
Beautiful Karl. Thank you for sharing. May success keep coming your way.
Big fan here. Hi!!! Thank you for the advice!

Let me just use that in my boring life with boring job.
It's always nice to hear some advices from a guy that's from the farest country from mine ( New Zealand / Portugal ) ;-)
Keep up the good work .. You are a nice man.
Cheers from Lisbon
Haha, mid-life crisis speaking. Consider not fucking up other people's lives an achievement.
Confidence comes when you start trusting yourself.. The best thing I heard today !!
I am a big fan of yours and really appreciate your help in educating people Karl. Not just foreigners, even Indians learn a lot of things from your videos. I would like to meet you someday when I come to Delhi :)
Kio Ora Karl! I watch you when I miss NZ. NZ people and I can completely relate to your set of mind 😉

Thank you Karl. Very inspiring
India loves u.
@Vedant Farkade cause its a free country LMFAO
Karl you helped me understand India, tolerance, not being judgemental and acceptance. You have helped enrich my life
That's great 👍👍👍video karl we ❤❤❤ what you are doing for india as well as for all humanity around the globe
It's videos like these that give me more strength to juggle both my tech career and acting until the time is right ;)
Thanks Karl!
Better than any other "self help" "motivational" videos.. This is so real mate.. Cheers!!
Thanks Jonannes for the idea. It's really good. I gave myself 20K NZD from my savings. If I ran out of that, I'd go home and get another job.
@@KarlRock Thanks for answering! Looking forward to a video about that. :)
Actually, I wrote a book about it and my first few months in India... But got to busy with RUclips. Might look back at it today and do something with it
