Dumb Gringo question lol but if I were to buy a $500K condo in Colombia would I be looking at a down payment and a normal monthly mortgage like we do in the US or is there greater emphasis on paying up front?
It’s a good question the market works differently. Here in Colombia mortgages are very hard to get access to because of no financial history, no income in the country etc. also the interest rate are super high around 14-15% and in some cases more. Good question! So, by law a foreigner has the same rights as a Colombian to own real estate, what can be the issue is more the time allowed to stay in the country, the visa situation. And HOA fess changed depending on area, building age, how large the apartment is etc.

No. 350k tops and im being generous. that price is a rip off plus its an apartment doesn't have a yard,share a building,might not accept pets and where do you park ? im gonna assume there's a underground garage if not bump off 50k. 500k i could buy a plot of land and build a house+garage to my liking for that price and not only that I can get more use out of land and buy more land or what ever a person would want to do, with that you can what air BnB and thats pretty much it. view is nice n all, but ive seen better for less

In USA you can buy a house at this price but not in the best cities. And far ... you will have to take your car to move. Medellin is one of the best cities of Colombia, and you won't need a car to go buy bread. Cheers

In USA you can buy a house at this price but not in the best cities. And far ... you will have to take your car to move. Medellin is one of the best cities of Colombia, and you won't need a car to go buy bread. Cheers
