You have the option to “ship in amazon packaging” instead, but if you don’t select that, it will tell the person packing that item to ship it as is. Some people will realize that maybe the item should be placed in a box even if it doesn’t ask for a box, but some people don’t care and just put the shipping label right on the item. Sorry they sent it to you that way! Some people don’t have common sense
