A bit sad to see all the three in the end having so much fun and knowing they are all gone now. Anyway, it's really nice that these scenes survived :)
Ah but the joy of how beautiful they were in that moment. We can't have the joy of having without the pain of losing.
very well-put ctwo and the memories always remain. always nice to meet fellow Wings of esire lovers. How was your summer? @@ctwofirst6635
Indeed, I have adored this film for ages but never saw this footage before. The final scene filled me with such heartache and melancholy, knowing they have all passed as you mention, yet I'm so grateful to see this light and joyful moment.
Thanks for your very beautiful thoughts on the film and production the maybeblock :) may I ask how you came across the film in the first place? Greetings from Berlin the city where it is set.@@themaybeblock
I hope they are pie fighting in Heavens now. They should be gone back to their previous Angel state. At least I hope so for them.
This movie changed my life - I was in West Berlin before the wall fell and this captured it perfectly.
have you ever returned afterwards Brinda? Greetings from Berlin in 2023
@@Ivanatis I did in 2016 and the magic was gone - it looked like Chicago
oh I am sorry to hear :(@@brindacockburn4033
Potsdamer Platz

I just discovered this film on TCM. I am a big fan of foreign films. It is the best foreign film I have ever seen. I sent a message to TCM to run "Faraway, So Close". Seeing these cut scenes was very interesting and entertaining. As another person posted, your voice is very soft and soothing. Thank you very much for a great film.
A life changing film; for me at least.
Wender's voice is so relaxing, it feels like ASMR video, and with the amazing score, man
Beautiful footage. Miraculous this was all captured right before it all changed.
So true!
You just made my day. An extra half hour of my favourite movie. What a treat.
Thank you so much.
greetings from Berlin to you marta, hope life treats you well
Loved seeing these from my favorite film. How generous of Wim to welcome anyone to edit this masterpiece, though he was right to not include this at the end. ❤
Thank you for your art and all the beauty with it. Just like a dream.
How beautiful, all these sequences. They should indeed part of this film which gave so much to my life as a student.
Yes I agree :) Are you a fan of the film too Romalvx?
@@Ivanatis this film shaped my life in the shape of my feelings. Yes indeed Ivanatis.
@@Romalvx That is awesome, do you have a favorite scene or character?
@@Ivanatis The speech at the beginning…the speech at the end…the library…all the voices converging in a droning buzz…like when you read and think..and Marion’s dream, she sees Damiel before she meets him. What about you Ivanatis? How sweet that we love this film..
@@Romalvx I love those scenes you mentioned :) great inclusions. I think my favorite is maybe "Als das Kind Kind war" voiceover and also everything with Peter Falk as I really adore Columbo :)
Poignant, beautiful and - in the end - absolutely hilarious - thank you so much for posting this!
Thank you for posting this
So beautiful to see. Love this.
But Nick Cave sounds so much like Lou Reed!
Incroyable !!!
Thank u you for posting! I will edit the final sequence for shure
Did you edit it?
In comparison to the other actors, it's weird how there is so little information out there on who Solveig Dommartin was. I would really be interested in knowing what she got up to in the last 10 years of her life and why she virtually vanished from public life after the mid 90s.
Solveig Dommartin was born on May 16, 1961 in Constantine, Constantine, France [now Algeria]. She was an actress and director, known for Wings of Desire (1987), Until the End of the World (1991) and Faraway, So Close! (1993). She died on January 11, 2007 in Paris, France.
Learned circus acrobatics and performed on the trapeze for her feature film debut, 'Wings of Desire', without using a stunt double.
Was the life companion of Wim Wenders and later, during the last three years of her life, of actor Jean-Claude Vogel.
Had a daughter named Venus, with sets painter Dominique Antraygues.
Associated with the films of Wim Wenders.
Acted in legit theater with the Compagnie Timothee Laine and Theater Labor Warschau.
I copied this from Internet Movie Database.
Does anyone know the building where this ending is filmed and the Nick Cave Bad Seeds concert?
It was in the remains of the Hotel Esplanade, which didn't survive the construction of the new Potsdamer Platz, except for the displaced panels of wall ornamentation of a presumably "protected" room, that ended up being moved to the Sony Center.
when was this recorded?
The music is fantastic. Who's the composer?
Jürgen Knieper, he worked in other Wenders films such as "Wrong Move" (1975), "The American Friend" (1977), "Lisbon Story" (1994) and more
Featured on the soundtrack you can buy on CD.

7:35 The St.-Matthäus church is NOT "the only building that survived the bombing in the area" as claimed: in fact, the House of Tourism (Haus des Fremdenverkehrs) stood right next to it, nearly undamaged until it was demolished in the early 1960s for ideological reasons. Germans are known to have a certain fondness for retrofitting history, as the director himself proves in his commentary.
Who cares!! Such a great film. If you can not say something nice, don't say anything.
what a mess and sexual innuendo
