Brilliant vlog! Couple of quick q's my friend, what is a decent price for fake football shirt in the bazaar? And also how much would i expect to pay for a sim card to use for a week in Turkey? Thanks in advance.
Hey Noz. Wow! You've really got us with these questions. As a rough estimate I'd say £15-20 for a football shirt but we've never bought one before. Our advice is to ask a few places and feel the quality...it's only worth what you are willing to pay. SIM card... another corker. We'll have to direct you to Google for this one and one of the many updated threads on there as we just use the WiFi which is basically everywhere as you'd imagine. There are different packages with the likes of Turkcell etc so you'd be best having a look as to what suits your needs. I'm sorry we can't help much beyond this but it happens from time to time.
You guys are naturals on cam. Another great video can't wait to go to this place 🙌. Great tips and advice. We have 3 boys, all young lads. No issues taking them in bazar?
Thanks a lot Chris. The Turkish are amazing with kids but no, you won't have any issues in a safety way nor should they see something that's not age appropriate. I guarantee you'll need your wallet though as there's a lot of clothes that they will probably want. Don't worry if you don't get the price you have in mind in your first shop as I guarantee someone else will be selling it. Dalyan is next week and is worth a day trip on the boat. Thanks for commenting 👍🏼
Hey Fred. In reality it doesn't have a colour for that section. It's basically at the top end in the middle of the bazaar, which probably makes no sense. You'd be best off asking a local for directions or Google map it.

May I ask you how old you are, John? Just stumbled over your videos of Marmaris and you pretty much remind me of myself. 😂 I‘ve been in Marmaris 1997 for the first time and come back nearly every year since than. So I also have a lot of pictures as a child with the locals, which they still love to see when I stop by. Amazing to see how many of them still work there. Anyway: Nice video with good insider spots for people that are „newer“ to Marmaris. (Hint: I‘ve never noticed the different roof colours 😂) Keep up the good work and greetings from Germany
Guten Tag, Patty. I'm 37. A lot live there all year round but some still go back to Istanbul or other countries for the winter. In 2010 they tried making Marmaris a year round resort but winters there can be terrible. I went in January 2010 and it was deserted and like a ghost town with a lot of heavy rain and very strong wind. The minibus to and from the airport was mainly English girls seeing their Turkish boyfriends. It never worked as Antalya has better weather. The roof colours got painted some years ago to make it easier for tourists but in reality very few notice them for all the hawking that goes on. On one of our first home videos the bazaar looks very different and with no roof! Marmaris really has come a long way over the years. Danke for watching 🙂
Nice video, maybe cuz they know you I was there on holiday no one offered me drinks at all in any of the shops in the bazaar lol not so much intimidating to go around but found them a bit pushy like trying to encourage you to buy more then what you want and I think they used to put the prices up so you’d pay far more then normal I walked out of one of the shops as I was gonna buy a bag till the other guy looked and laughed as if he was trying to say ha your paying for that haha they lost me as a customer cuz I went somewhere else.
Hey Julie. Some sellers can be a little more 'persuasive' than others. Generally all sellers originally quote a higher price as haggling is a way of life in Turkey, or any bazaar around the world for that matter. Often we can't be bothered so we use the fixed price shops which are featured in the main Marmaris vlog. Don't get us wrong there are plenty of sellers we don't buy from as often I know how much I want to pay for something. The clothing style had changed rapidly over the years so it's rare we buy clothes. Bags are about the only thing we generally come back with. Sorry to hear you've not had a great experience but if you go back have a shop around first to get prices as a baseline and then go in for the kill! Thanks for watching!
The adventure side in it is just getting lost and finding your own way. Even we found new things this time. Basically just look for your long main streets and walk them. At the end turn left or right to form a square and head back up. There's too many cut throughs and narrow ones to do a map but the locals are generally helpful enough to guide you. Keep a shop as a reference point just incase you need to ask for guidance but in all honesty if you follow everyone else then you won't go far wrong and it's less daunting than you think. The Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is the biggest maze of them all! The Mosque is basically at the centre point of the bazaar and accessible from the tourist boat harbour (you'll walk past Yaprak Kebab where we had the fantastic Turkish kebabs in bread). Just throw yourself into it and never be afraid to ask for help. John & Becky x
Hey Tariq. In fairness we only go self catering to Turkey as the all inclusive hotels can be fairly poor. The Green Nature hotels are probably the most popular along with Club Julian. With the AI ones they are usually a bit more set back in resort due to the size of them. Have a look at what some of the tour companies are offering and weigh it up. The beer is usually the cheapest possible and cocktails of poor quality from the feedback we've had from people. Chicken almost all the time too as it's cheap. Horses for courses though at the end of the day. One of our favourite places to stay is called the Ozturk Apartments which are in a good location a few minutes walk from the bazaar and dancing fountains but it's self catering only, however, they have a restaurant. Where we stayed at the Alkan (featured on our main Marmaris vlog) that's in the real touristy part. There are a number of hotels up that way and it's about a 20 minute walk to the bazaar. Hope some of the info helps!
Hey Corina. You can find these in a few shops in the bazaar if you ask them. It's mainly a tourist thing so there should be quite a few around. If someone hasn't got one they will generally know someone who has though.
Is siri converting this correctly for me? Was that meal you got at Yakar Bufe only $0.46 USD?? That can't be right! If so, I need to visit Turkey ASAP!! Everything looked so good! The turkish delights too!!
I think it got it wrong. It is about £2-3 off the top of our heads so about $4-5 maybe. The food out there is amazing, although some typical 'English' tourists went to traditional restaurants asking for Spaghetti Bolognese and stuff like that, which is always embarrassing even as an onlooker. Add Turkiye to your list as you won't be disappointed 👍🏼🇹🇷
Cigars are something we've never seen for sale to be fair as it's not a big market in Turkiye. It's best to take them with you. As for smoking them we can't envisage any issues as smoking is widely accepted as a cultural norm.
@@jonathanreid7785 it will be about a 30min ish walk. If you head to the main road where the blue port complex is you'll be able to catch a dolmus from there to save time. Have a good trip!
Anywhere along a main road for the Dolmus if you are staying a distance from the bazaar. Personally we prefer accommodation close to the bazaar like Liman apartments (owned also by Liman restaurant) or the Ozturk Apartments. Put them on a map including where we stayed at the Alkan and you'll have a good idea.
Hi, today journey is a wonderful job really amazing one , beautiful shopping experience in turkey , i have a problem who did you meet at the first there? was that beky's relation ☺️. i love this vlogg and specially to your beautiful amazing accent.
Definitely as there are a lot of offers on with it being a holiday resort. We have an Istanbul vlog coming in the next couple of weeks with the latest prices there too.
Hi Aled. I've never noticed a name on it to be honest, however, it's on street 42. The shops we feature heavily which are Ali's shop at the start of the vlog opposite Dennis shop and also Hussein's shop Ozturk for clothes are the ones we trust the most for quality and have never had a bad item in 30+ years. Erol shoes for excellent quality footwear too. There's plenty of choice in there so feel free to have a browse but always carefully look and feel at the item if buying from other retailers.
@@ParksTravelGuide brilliant, many thanks guys, greatly appreciated. Going out on 15th July. Also, your friend who has the Turkish Delight shop, is he also on 42 street?
It's still on that street but further down the other end of the bazaar. He's next door to the Ozturk shop and about 4 doors down from Erol Shoes. It's Erol's brother. If you head for the Mosque in the middle of the bazaar, keep it on your right hand side as you go past it to the next street and you'll come to it. Failing that then locals will give you directions.
Hey Josh. Lira and pounds. Lira for small purchases, pounds for shopping in the bazaar and if you're planning on nipping over to Rhodes on the ferry then you'll need some Euros for there. You'll get a slightly better rate changing pounds to lira in resort but it's marginal. Have a good trip!
Hey. It's a bit mixed but often brings rain and cloud. Last year was strange though when we were in Istanbul in April, as was Greece. Didn't get above 12c which was really odd. Expect around the 19-20c mark and anything else is a bonus x
Shops vary. The best way to find it is to feel the clothing you want to buy. Obviously the 10 boxers for £10 and 3 or 5 T shirts for £10 will be questionable as you'd imagine. Overall the businesses are generally proud with what they sell but I'd suggest you pay what you feel it's worth...if they can't do that price then they won't. They will always add about 25-50% onto your first price when you ask and then it's a playful game of haggling... don't be afraid to walk away as you can probably find it in another shop or even go back later if you have second thoughts. The £ in note form is king out there so keep that in mind. Hope it helps!
@@ParksTravelGuide thanks I don't mind paying £20 for the designer brands if they look legit compared to the £200 I pay over in the UK ha so I'm best taking some English pound notes out there with me aswell I'm staying in icmeler never been before looking forward to it loving the channel
Thanks very much Liam. What you see with us is what you get. You can get all kinds of copies and some are better than others. The better copies obviously cost more as you would expect. Yeah take GBP with you for shopping as you know what you are spending, they also take cards too if your supply runs a little lower than you'd like 👍🏼
We have been to Marmaris 20 years each year once or twice, you find some people and shops, they know you and you know them, and when you accept that they also have to make a living, and you get a good product and service, what is not to like.. enjoy the bazaar
As it's our currency it's more for simplicity for a quick haggle when buying clothes as it can be easy for people to get lost when converting on the spot. 9 times out of 10 it works out better to pay in pounds for Brits. I've paid in lira once in years gone by as I had no GBP and there was a noticeable difference between the prices given. They also don't mind it as they benefit a bit from the conversion when they exchange it. There's no hard and fast rule though as other nationalities pay in Euros also. It's purely personal preference.
@@ParksTravelGuide Thank you. I'm going to Icmeler on the 23rd and was just wondering, a friend recently went and apparently with the current exchange rate they aren't very interested in lira at the moment anyway, I'll end up just taking GBP now, with some Euros just in case. Thanks :)
They have always been more interested in foreign currency in the bazaar as locals get a favourable exchange rate when changing it to lira. Restaurants and bars are different though and lira is the norm. Hope you have a fantastic time!
Hi Adrian. Any are generally ok, but as a word of caution convert the advertised rates prior to going in and you'll know if you are getting the right amount when you are at the counter. We used to use one near the roundabout by the Marina. These days we use our travel card to pay and also withdraw from ATM's so we don't tend to use exchange places.
Thanks for your guide so very helpful and was a great aid for our holiday. You get questioned by every single shopkeeper and by the time you’ve gone passed 10 shops, you’re sick of saying “no thank you”. If you don’t buy, on occasion, be prepared to be hassled, intimidated, harassed. To be balanced there were some good experiences and bargains, just don’t accept the first price, haggle and if they don’t want your money go else where, there are hundreds of the shops selling the same thing. We’ll definitely return, a bit thicker skinned and now armed with what we now know it will be an even better experience, thanks again 🤗
Hey Leo. Thanks for your lovely words. You're right in what you say and in fairness it does put a lot of people off...but we agree it can be tiring. Quality varies so always feel it before you buy it and double check the sizes of buying in bulk (like 10 boxers for £10) as sometimes they will throw mixed sizes in and hope you won't notice. We hope you've had a great trip and glad you will return to Turkiye. Thank you so much for watching! John & Becky x
Hey Tori. Our good friend Erol who was featured either on this or our other Marmaris vlog does very good quality shoes and may post to the UK. If you can't get to Marmaris he has a page on Facebook where you can contact him and ask the question. His page is 'Erol Shose'. Hope it helps!
I been there 2weeks ago amazing they tried still something hahahahhahahahahgag first costumer and like that hahahahah come to my shop best quality hahaha
It's not too bad Richard. It definitely makes you feel ripped off in the UK! £22 for a shave and haircut at the local Kurdish barbers and they don't do it half as good.
Been in here many many times. Sometimes the vendors try and say is the girlfriend the boss if you say no thanks at buying any item to goad you into buying . Just be confident and stick to your own price you are prepared to pay. Can be a bit hectic imo. If you get a haircut get the price beforehand as they do try and add extras. Love marmaris but like any place be careful. Great channel hope to visit marmaris next year. Take care
Hi I'm a lone woman going to Marmaris ,Turkey and want to visit the bazaar will I get hassled much. I really don't want to use my unladylike voice to tell people to f***k off!😂
Hey Janet. We can't lie and say you'll get nobody ask you to look in their shops as that's how it is at the bazaar but it's not anywhere near as bad as in Arabic countries. A polite but firm no usually works fine, but if they persist don't be afraid to just keep walking as it does get tiresome and really slows your pace. Just don't tell them you'll be back if you have no intention to as the Turks will hold you to your word and never forget. Hope you have a great time!
Hey Denny. In the bazaar there's a place we filmed called Erol shoes. It was the clip where he was busy so we didn't stop but went back another day to see him. It's near the mosque anyway. He's a good guy and me and him go back years. Hope it helps 👍🏼
That's bazaar life. Similar to the souks in Egypt and Morocco etc. We usually spend our time at the back of it in the Turkish area where nobody bothers you. You get weathered to it eventually. Thanks for watching!
Some things are Viliam, but if you go to the fixed price shops you know exactly what you are paying. 10 pairs of copy Calvin Klein boxers for £10 or 3 T-shirts for £10 isn't expensive but the quality can vary as you would expect for a lower price. We have had some real bargains in years gone by. Things are only worth what people will pay, but given the price of the retail price of the designer brands, people will pay a reasonable amount for a good copy.
I am traveling here next month. Loving your videos, very helpful. I have subscribed the channel and followin you on instagram too. Would you recommended carrying pounds or euros or local currency. Thanks
Hey Ranjit. Thanks very much for your support. We usually take pounds but if we plan on nipping over to Rhodes on the ferry you'll need euros. Both are accepted in Turkey although the only cash we carry is lira incase we go into any small bars. Occasionally we have GBP for shopping with so we know what we are spending. The rest of the time it's our Revolut or starling travel card. Hope you have a great time!

@@ParksTravelGuide hey u ok? last day in Turkey today. been amazing and got to 33 degrees xx
@@ParksTravelGuide thanks so much guys 🙏
Hi what colour was the kebab shop down been in the bazaar many times but never eaten there great video guys will be back out in oct
Hey Fred. In reality it doesn't have a colour for that section. It's basically at the top end in the middle of the bazaar, which probably makes no sense. You'd be best off asking a local for directions or Google map it.
It is by the mosque and PTT. Fantastic kebabs!
Luv it yes pls my favourite place
We hope to get back in the future. Turkiye is an amazing country!
I get my haircut, the same place, and we shop with Ali…. Both nice places.. last time May 2022…

Oh it is. We could live off kebabs alone all week!
Really enjoyed watching this vlog Turkish kebab looked amazing. All in all looked like a place I would visit.
It's the real deal Tony. Makes ours look dreadful
May I ask you how old you are, John? Just stumbled over your videos of Marmaris and you pretty much remind me of myself. 😂
I‘ve been in Marmaris 1997 for the first time and come back nearly every year since than.
So I also have a lot of pictures as a child with the locals, which they still love to see when I stop by.
Amazing to see how many of them still work there.
Anyway: Nice video with good insider spots for people that are „newer“ to Marmaris. (Hint: I‘ve never noticed the different roof colours 😂)
Keep up the good work and greetings from Germany
How do you find way round? It's a maze! I know they have different colours but find it confusing... can u do a map?
Any Hotel recommendations, All inc or bed and breakfast?
Where do you find t shirts that actually have turkey written on it, can only find sports t shirts, designer shirts, and football shirts. Any ideas.?.
Hey Corina. You can find these in a few shops in the bazaar if you ask them. It's mainly a tourist thing so there should be quite a few around. If someone hasn't got one they will generally know someone who has though.
@@ParksTravelGuide Thank us much we will be down there tomorrow and ask. Appreciate it.💕💕
Most welcome. Have an Efes or 3 for us! x
@@ParksTravelGuide Of course.🍺🍺🍺👍
@@ParksTravelGuide it’s on the list! We always look for places the locals go! Best way to experience different cultures! Thanks for sharing!
Like to smoke the occasional cigar is there any place you'd recommend?
Cigars are something we've never seen for sale to be fair as it's not a big market in Turkiye. It's best to take them with you. As for smoking them we can't envisage any issues as smoking is widely accepted as a cultural norm.
Whats the barber shop called please? Im goint there in 3 weeks time, definitely want to go to that specific barber's thanks
That's a really good question. Looking on Google maps I think it's called Apameia hair studio although I've never really paid attention.

@@jonathanreid7785 it will be about a 30min ish walk. If you head to the main road where the blue port complex is you'll be able to catch a dolmus from there to save time. Have a good trip!
@@ParksTravelGuide thanks for replying appreciate it.
Can you advice as where to stay? ❤

Definitely as there are a lot of offers on with it being a holiday resort. We have an Istanbul vlog coming in the next couple of weeks with the latest prices there too.
@Parks Travel Guide thank you so much. We're planning to visit marmaris in July, insha Allah ..
You should for sure! Do it! 🙂
Can you share the name of the barber in Grand Bazzar please and some good qualty replica shops? Thanks
Failing that then locals will give you directions.
would you recommend to take lira or euros?
Hey Josh. Lira and pounds. Lira for small purchases, pounds for shopping in the bazaar and if you're planning on nipping over to Rhodes on the ferry then you'll need some Euros for there. You'll get a slightly better rate changing pounds to lira in resort but it's marginal. Have a good trip!
hi John whats the weather like in april x
Hey. It's a bit mixed but often brings rain and cloud. Last year was strange though when we were in Istanbul in April, as was Greece. Didn't get above 12c which was really odd. Expect around the 19-20c mark and anything else is a bonus x
What's the quality of the fake clothing like in the bazzaaar and what'd a good price
Yeah take GBP with you for shopping as you know what you are spending, they also take cards too if your supply runs a little lower than you'd like 👍🏼
I love it there.
Us too. It's great fun!
I also use Ali shop and Sedat haircut.. the best…
Good choices Niels! Thanks for commenting
We have been to Marmaris 20 years each year once or twice, you find some people and shops, they know you and you know them, and when you accept that they also have to make a living, and you get a good product and service, what is not to like.. enjoy the bazaar
Agree with you 100% Niels. The benefit of experience is knowing their prices are worth the quality of the item too
Would you pay everything in sterling? Im getting told different stories
Hey Anthony. We take sterling for if we buy any clothing in the bazaar but use lira and our travel card for everything else.
@@ParksTravelGuide Is there a reason you use pounds rather than lira in the bazaar?
Hi where is the best place to exchange money in Marmaris?
My favourite city 💝
It's beautiful isn't it!
@@ParksTravelGuide absolutely

Nice price for barber
It's not too bad Richard. It definitely makes you feel ripped off in the UK! £22 for a shave and haircut at the local Kurdish barbers and they don't do it half as good.
Been in here many many times. Sometimes the vendors try and say is the girlfriend the boss if you say no thanks at buying any item to goad you into buying . Just be confident and stick to your own price you are prepared to pay. Can be a bit hectic imo. If you get a haircut get the price beforehand as they do try and add extras. Oooooh yeahhhh!
I love Marmaris bazaar. Will be back in may 2024. One thing for sure im not following Becky to the toilet after all them chillies lmao.
Hahaha, she's a warrior for sure.
Where's the best place for trainers in Marmaris please?
Hey Denny. In the bazaar there's a place we filmed called Erol shoes. It was the clip where he was busy so we didn't stop but went back another day to see him. It's near the mosque anyway. He's a good guy and me and him go back years. Hope it helps 👍🏼
Cadburys lol. Its fry's Becky.
Cadburys does a version of it too. It's terrible!

I think it is sumqk nor chilli haha
Probably Sumaç
Do nt go to a barbars in the bazaar they are croks asi found out
Some are, some aren't. Barbers will always try and up-sell with extras such as hair wash, massage etc. Ask for only a haircut and you'll be fine.
The constant being harassed to go into shops was a right pain
That's bazaar life. Similar to the souks in Egypt and Morocco etc. We usually spend our time at the back of it in the Turkish area where nobody bothers you. You get weathered to it eventually. Thanks for watching!
Got ripped off in Bazaar
Really? What was it you bought?
Marmaris / Blackpool 😂, 🤔, same place just better weather, Turkey loves a good old Northerner to buy their fake crap 😂
Oh come on...everyone knows Benners is twinned with Blackpool 😆
The barber butcher you your bleeding all over.
Yeah he wasn't the best sadly. Must be new 😆
5 Euro for Haircut is cheap. I pay much more In Istanbul
It is in comparison to UK prices too. My Kurdish barber charges £13. I have an arrival hair cut and a departure hair cut when I'm in Turkey 😄
don't believe it, everything there is expensive
Some things are Viliam, but if you go to the fixed price shops you know exactly what you are paying. 10 pairs of copy Calvin Klein boxers for £10 or 3 T-shirts for £10 isn't expensive but the quality can vary as you would expect for a lower price. We have had some real bargains in years gone by. Things are only worth what people will pay, but given the price of the retail price of the designer brands, people will pay a reasonable amount for a good copy.
It’s a no go for me they are very rude and some follow you
Some can be but the good vendors in there more than make up for it. Thanks for watching!
What was the weather like in July
35c+ sometimes even touching 40c. August is relentless with the heat. We filmed this during a June and it was 36c then
I am traveling here next month.
