We had family dinner at my Mom's last week and our old neighbor let her hair down and it was past her knees! I've known her for years but she always has it in a bun.
Both my great grandmothers could stand on their hair shortly before each passed away.
My own auburn hair has grown down to my knees once and to my bottom once.
It is nearly to my waist now, at 68 years of age. It would have reached to the floor if I had not had it cut twice, when my Daddy passed away and when my son and daughter died within six months of each other. It is not as thick as it once was, but it still silky and strong.
@@ittybittykittymama7582 good for you. My hair was almost to my waist but I got sick and it started coming out. I had to cut it really short but it's growing back out now.

Old photos were called stills because of how still you had to be for the photo, not sure when the term or word photo came around TBH tho lol....damn this shows my age.....

Yep. Often families would have to divide as there may not have been enough resources or room. Ie some kids with one relative, others in another home. While the parents searched for work.😊

I'm glad that none of you would consider selling your children but for some context you may not be aware of - there was no money, food, work or more significantly contraception available at that time the decision to sell her children did not come from a place of greed but a desperate attempt to ensure her children survived when many didn't if the choice was starving my children or giving them any kind of chance I would choose that too. How fortunate we are today that for the most part we have access to social services

Still Bilder are photos of the deceased in their coffins taken during their wakes -- a custom still kept today in Germany and I'm sure other countries as well. I don't care to remember a loved one's appearance after death, but how he/she looked the last time we chatted. Or any other fond living memory.
I'm right with YOU fam!! I could NEVER EVER sell or give up one of my kids. My kids ARE a piece of MY HEART!! I had a daughter that died of sids I promise you a piece of me died along with her! Over half of the photos claimed to be "post mortem" are NOT. I've studied this practice for decades and am familiar with these photos. Because of renewed interest in these images, people will display 1 or 2 post mortem photos with many others that are not. That's the case here...😮
My grandpa told me stories about #15. They was giving up their children because they couldn't feed them. It was that or they starved to death. Children were sent off alone as early as 9 yrs old and jumped on the box cars(trains) to take them to other places to find work. Really sad. 😓

My uncle and his best fried would help an old farmer and his wife who had grown children. They offered their parent to house and feed them and make sure they attended school in exchange for their physical labors. He was true to his word. My uncle Julian Vargas grew up to become one of the bad ass bastards of Bastogne(101st) let’s hope these children and others were shown some kindness in life🙏🏻❤️

As a woman of American Indian descent, I totally agree with you, my brother from down under. Bison were left to rot on the plains while our children and elders died from hunger. We were literally starved into submission and forced onto reservations!

My mom was born 10/28/29. Her mom worked in a bank. She left my mother at her grandparents house. Her father disappeared. This wasn't unusual at the time. Maybe the lady in the pic had no other way to feed them? What a horrible decision to have to make. BTW birth control was virtually non-existent and often unreliable. Abortion was illegal therefore very dangerous.

When my grandmother passed away her sister stood next to the casket and had her picture taken. All of us were seriously weirded out but that was normal for them.

Well you can't see how they could get rid of their children. But you have to consider the source, These people that were given up their children had no love whatsoever for those children, And they could only see the children as being a burden to them something that they needed to get rid of, Because they never wanted them to start with. Back then in those times women were raped and had no choice about getting an abortion they had to have the child. So they didn't want this child to start with, These are the people that were selling children.😎
