      Fextralife You make a very good point about the lack of non-pet related active abilities, and how that's a downside for Ghost Hearts. The upside is though that it does free you up to pick a great many other passive abilities you might not otherwise be able to afford.

    That's me and my dog in a nutshell.

    Ranger Sharpshooter with Chanter Beckoner (probably Troubadour also) is insanely good, especially on PotD. Main goal should be to summon the 3 or 6 baby dragons and using the DPS buffing songs, particularly the one that gives -20% reload time.
    Having 6 baby dragons creates a "spiked" wall of obstacles (that greatly increase DPS also) that enemies will need to clear to reach the Ranger so you can dump all your resolve and constitution into intellect (increased summon duration), might (increased DPS), dexterity (increased DPS), and perception (increased DPS via accuracy).
    Use stride and increased deflection while disengaging gear and monsters will not be able to touch the ranger in the off chance they bypass your real tank, pet, and horde of summons (allows the Ranger to literally zip across the entire field like Flash, can kite persistent enemies with ease).
    Make sure you do NOT choose Godlike race as you cannot equip headgear. Not only can you easily replace their race stat differential via headgear but you also miss out on the -20% reload time hat which is going to completely overshadow ALL racial buffs of ANY race just from that 1 missing gear slot (i.e. any race would still be better than Godlike even if those races gave ZERO racial buffs and in some cases even if they only gave debuffs).
    Overall I'd say this combo is just so effective as long as you spend a little time micromanaging them out of range of enemies that this is probably the best striker and support simultaneously (and amazing crowd control having an infinite amount of summon up time to distract enemies which is subsequently an infinite amount of HP to throw in for support tanking, the only reason I wouldn't consider this a true tank is because you can't summon dragons before entering combat and its a fairly long cast time).
    With a proper fighter/paladin tank and decent healer you should steamroll PotD with 3/5 filled party. Bring two more ranged characters all using arbalests (with prone modal, 4 ranged total if u equip it to the healer also) and watch the CC locks with 100% uptime of -20% reload speed AOE (not recommended for cheesing the fun out of the game). Arquebuss is also a great weapon choice for non cheesing and don't forget to steal and enchant the body from Maia for an additional -20% reload time.

    Im rolling with a wood elf Fighter/Ranger (Devoted/Sharpshooter) devoted to arquebus. If you want to insta kill most random mobs in 1 or 2 shots give this a try, its brutal.

      Ranged pistols for my damage, and I'll sing some buff songs for my party while pulling triggers. Ghost bear to try and stay alive through the full summon. This will be my first play through of a POE game, its already so fun and I've only had 2 dialogues. Name's Deadpool.

      How do you find this setup in combat? Been thinking of recreating a bard character from my pen and paper RP using Chanter and Ranger combined, but I am unsure if the ghost pet synergizes well with the Chanter summons (as I understand you can only have one summon active pr. character). So currently I am thinking Sharpshooter and standard Chanter

    • @kartoffelsalat0
      @kartoffelsalat0 6 лет назад +2

      I don't summon with this guy at all I just buff my party and CC with the chanter skills. I just leave him on auto pilot with pistols and more often than not he demolish's targets I am using larger cooldowns on. With that said Maybe sharpshooter and a rifle would be a better route. I love ghost pet for the theme and the fact that It is one less model clogging my screen. I really don't enjoy a pet in the party while walking in the world or worrying about keeping alive for that matter.

    Helpful upload, tho for stalker subclass I do find myself very tempted to try pairing it with a Soulblade Cipher since they would also function well in melee and have great buffs and abilities that could target the pet. I'm just not sure how doable that combo would really be.

    Guys, which companion would you recommend?

  • @jimmym3352
    @jimmym3352 6 лет назад

    Pretty good, my ranger sharpshooter is already up to level 11, so I'm past a lot. But some good stuff here. You make a good point about going with higher rate of fire if you have pretty high accuracy, and I may try that. I invested heavily in perception and have it up to 20 now. I chose human mostly for aesthetics, and use arquebus as my main weapon.
    What do you recommend for enemies that have piercing resistance? That's the only thing that caused me trouble early on as ranged weapons are all piercing. I use a pollaxe as my backup weapon for these cases when I fight skeletons and such.

    A) Which pet is best ?
    B) Is Ghost Heart worth specializing?

    • @Fextralife
      @Fextralife  6 лет назад +1

      There isn't a best pet imo, depends on what you want them to do. Ghost Heart is good if you just want Ranger Abilities without the pet, however, they are quite lackluster without it, so I'm inclined to say no generally.

    • @raistlin3462

      Really? I heard pet´s damage and HP doesn´t scale well, and there is the grief nerf when it dies.

    • @Fextralife
      @Fextralife  6 лет назад +4

      Yes it's very good. I think the addition of Multiclassing does wonders for the game. I keep wanting to try new things the more I learn!

    • @silence568
      @silence568 6 лет назад

      So the power source and power lvls are not a problem overall in terms of efficiency ?

    • @Fextralife
      @Fextralife  6 лет назад +1

      They are more of an issue for casters because they depend upon it for damage, but many weapon abilities are determined by the weapon's damage, not your Power Source.

    I still think the Rangers are one of the worst classes in the game.
    Edit: Although you could make a case for the Priests being the worst.

    • @snowmanleblanc6053
      @snowmanleblanc6053 4 года назад

      Me obviously. I'm currently roleplaying as a Aedyrian Colonist with Ranger(Sharpshooter)/Fighter(Devoted) class. I one shot every mob with Penetrating Strike skill and crazy amount of crit chance.
      So sad that Aedyr has no presence in Deadfire, i would pick them over Rauatai. Only then, my roleplay will be complete.
