Before this, he lived such a hard and difficult past, and that past life and sudden fame is what led him to do what he did (doesn't excuse it, but you can see why he did what he did). Money was so scarce for him and he wanted to use that fame because he knew fame didn't last that long, so to keep being relevant, he did what he did.

Im Korean and he went through more than living alone for 10 years. He actually found his mother and went to her but his mother rejected him because she already had a rich husband and a family... he also thought of committing suicide but a music teacher he met told him to sing and be famous to show his mother to show he wasnt just a mistake in the world. As a Korean he is my forever role model. I absolutely respect you sung bong choi👍👍👍

I had watched this young man sang couple times now. Every time I watch him sang I cry. I was an orphan too, my father passed away when I was 6 or 7 years old. My mother got married and let us children alone. My siblings and I are struggle to survive during many times of trials. When we came to America in 1977 after the Vietnam War, we cannot speak and write English at all. We live a life in the lost world in America. Back in my teenager year with very limited English and have no money at all and little food to eat. The only lunch and breakfast I ate is at school in the morning and lunch only. Came home with empty stomach over night and wait till the next day back to school. People do not understand how orphans kids suffer before they become one. Thanks God I survived. Every time I watch this young man sang it always remind me to stand strong and be yourself, love yourself and think positive and thrive for the success you dream to achieve in life. People will push you down, but God will always raise you up no matter what people think of you. Dream big and never ever give up! God is good and awesome!

Yes indeed, a masterful vocalist... and to now find out, that he's on his deathbed , at such a young age, with such a wonderful voice- tells me that there is no God in this world. Sad thing is He died without having his mother claim his body he was 25 days in the freezer until his former manager was able to give him funeral. People are cruel, even your own flesh and blood so we should be careful not to make mistake. I hope he RIP.

I believe karma is 100% real in that sense, if you put negativity out into the world, how could some of that not come back to you? How fortunate am I? Living in America. Never had to sell a thing to live. Never had to sleep outside against my will. Never had to struggle to survive. But a gift like that is not common at all. Those struggles. That man is destined for something great.
I'm sure you will have more chance to see homeless people in subway station in New York than subway station in Seoul. Because of the hard life he lives you can easily tell that he is not used to people being nice to him. Although grateful and happy he was a bit awkward for the attention he's getting from them. His story was very inspiring, makes me thankful for my life.

There are young men who have been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for their bravery and sacrifice and selflessness in battle. It’s not the age of a person that determines maturity. He maintained his dignity and humility. He persevered. That is enough to inspire me. Young people should ASPIRE to be like him.

I saw this video about 9 or 10 years ago! My heart hurt for his story, but I think all that life experience and pain went to his singing which made him unforgettable and amazing. Incredible voice and I respect him more for standing strong despite of all the adversities. And the judge (the long haired lady) wow her compassion shines through. The ever gentle tone of her voice makes me feel like she can soothe away my sorrows

Sad thing is He died without having his mother claim his body he was 25 days in the freezer until his former manager was able to give him funeral. People are cruel, even your own flesh and blood so we should be careful not to make mistake. I hope he RIP.
So beyond heartbreaking he was also left alone, in a freezer, rejected again by his mother. He was a true gift to this world with his angelic voice.

I believe karma is 100% real in that sense, if you put negativity out into the world, how could some of that not come back to you? Actually, there are lots of homeless people in Korea, even now. I fyou travel there and go to the subways, there are lots of people sleeping there.
I'm sure you will have more chance to see homeless people in subway station in New York than subway station in Seoul. The reason this story is so impressing Korean people is that above story is very rare case in Korea. There are lots of welfare organizations and also they are supported from government and donations.

Character, devotion to one’s creed, resilience, and upbringing are more important than a person’s age. What inspires you and who inspires you? This young man came from nothing. He was homeless. He maintained his dignity and humility. He persevered. That is enough to inspire me. Young people should ASPIRE to be like him.

Choi claimed in January 2021 that he was suffering from cancer and raising funds to support his latest album. On 29 October 2021, Choi admitted to faking his cancer illness. In an apology released to Korean media, Choi stated, "I am not currently suffering from cancer and I admit that I am not suffering from colon, prostate, thyroid, lungs, brain, and heart cancer."
Death
Choi died by suicide on 20 June 2023, after having left a suicide note on his online channel, which has since been taken down. He was 33.

Everyone laughed at him at the beginning, but everyone felt sorry to him and honored to listen to his song at the end.
Being a spoiled American I can not relate to his difficult life. However, even at 67 years old, I did cry hearing him ell his story. Not to mention his God given talent for singing. What a great inspiration for millions!!! Thank you, Sung-bong Choi, for sharing your story and your talent.

I saw this video about 9 or 10 years ago! My heart hurt for his story, but I think all that life experience and pain went to his singing which made him unforgettable and amazing.
