My mom and I always found fun things to talk about while at the doctors. We were once shushed by a nurse for laughing too loudly. It felt natural but truthfully, sitting in silence for an hour while you await an unknown medical procedure or news is awful. I think she intentionally made the atmosphere as light as she could.
it's fake. There's no anesthesiologist that will sedate a patient before they're on the operating table because when you're under they need to hook you up to a machine that helps you breathe. If they put you under before you're on the table they risk a lot of liability and getting tangled, damaging your airways, equipment coming loose (and you subsequently dying), etc.
@@cyclejason That's actually incorrect. I have been in many surgeries and the team does talk, they laugh, and are still laser focused on the job at hand. It's awesome to see. Unless the surgeon is an asshole and then the tension is so thick you can cut it with a knife.
You can totally use this in practice patients for new doctors. If anything it will teach new doctors to expect anything in such a way thats not potentially somewhat traumatic for a fresh faced medtern.

Honestly, letting the kid doodle on himself is a great way to calm you down before surgery! Anesthesia and numbing stuff work better when you’re calm so it actually probably helped a lot I know this because when I started on my adhd meds my anxiety went way down and as a result, numbing stuff started working way better.
All jokes aside, that probably RUINED so many shifts at that hospital. Shits chaotic enough as is, let alone when everyone’s held up over something like this 😂

I love it when doctors can have a good laugh. When I was undergoing surgery for my gallbladder to be removed they said before I went under I made some jokes like an old man and wheezed before I fell asleep, the doctors told me I made their day
