This one of of those interviews that made me say OMG! when I saw it. I grew up on Run Dmc and had all their songs memorized! LOVED seeing this part of him that I never even knew existed. The fact that he's into comics is amazing! (I had an enormous collection that I gave away :-/ when I moved to Brazil for a few months some years ago). However the part that made me laugh out loud in the car was when he recited the Furious Five's rap (the 5 Mc's make it sound as 1). He was sweating and blown away ... which is the same way he and Run made me feel back n da day. Another great interview! Thanks Tom :-)
Even though it's less of an interview and a bit more like a monologue from DMC I'm actually really glad Tom didn't interrupt him at all. Darryl is a fantastic storyteller that has great insights that tie together the pivotal events and influences of his life, including the seemingly mundane things most people would overlook. Frankly, I could have listened to him for a few more hours. He's got one hell of a story and it's far from over. Bring him back again, Tom!

What is so fascinating is the very different ways in which they do. They share core values but express them in a way that aligns with their unique character. They're real world super heroes and your show is the "comic book" that allows us to peer inside their world and understand how they came to be. It allows us to believe that we can also become a superhero, just like Darryl described in this interview. Please never stop making content! Wow. Moved by the Sarah Mc story (10-13 minutes). There have been many motivational people on your show Tom but this touched me deeply. Depression and self doubt is only one slip away for many people but for people to know it's only one step to redemption is a beautiful thing. Being present for just one moment is all it takes to lift the fog of hate. Beautiful DMC my new hero. So authentic and vulnerable. What a guy. Yo!! Maan this is so powerful and inspirational to me. I grew up with comics, cartoons, tv series, video games and Kung fu movies to name a few things. Many of which were before my time (87) but because of where I was livin, I got to experience shows from the 60s to 90s that kids out in the US who were my age didn’t know of at the time. I was also the kid with the glasses and the straight a’s hopping around different international schools over in Saudi, while just immersing myself in different worlds when I was at home where I could just be myself. Or doing martial arts so I could be a ninja turtle. I’m hella resonating with all that y’all talked about. When I discovered hip hop it was gold. The music and dances took a hold of me at the time. Even though it was round 2k in Cali when I discovered the four elements of hip hop and all that jazz of the 80s, i vibed Out with the breakin, scratchin, emcee, graff steez while trying to find my own voice or movment of creation while watching anime. I feel like I’ve damn near forgotten parts of myself over the past few years. This is a great reminder of where I’ve been and part of where I’ve been wanting to go in my personal skills development. Tryna be the ultimate polymath superhuman in this universe. Tom, Darryl, I’m glad y’all are in this world. This interview is amazing. Thank you.

An icon of the metal scene in the 80s ,. Amazing work ethic , discipline,determination. Nothing was given to him free. Please research and contact him as soon as possible, it will be an amazing interview.
This is like The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Sometimes you’re already standing on what you truly need to be “successful”. DMC went on this journey to find he already was doing what he loved most! Side note: Paulo Coelho would be a good guest to have!

That music was a connection to something very different for us, and it was sort of transporting.
