I've started going back to retro gaming a few years ago. PS2 was one special console. Devil May Cry 1, Jak and Daxter, Cold Fear, Black. Those are the games I'm emulating right now. Channels like yours are absolutely sent from above. Looking forward to all your future vids!
Cold Fear was pretty fun. I had to emulate it bc something's wrong with the PC port.
Thank god for emulators and of course our wonderful gaming community that provide such experiences
Sky gunner is a fantastic game - great visuals and music - surprisingly complex combo driven gameplay - very similar to Ikaruga in that respect and suffers from Ikaruga's same problem of only 5 stages.
PSX was the first realization of affordable publishing, thereby opening the door for creativity. This was refined on PS2 and was a beautiful era to experience.
Especially on those long summers... 🥰

Can I make a special request? I'm looking for the weirdest, quirkiest most stylished ps2 games. Think Chulip, Katamari Damacy or Ribbit King. Games downright outlandish and cartoony. Thanks again King, your's is singlehandedly the best topten type channel there is.

Bought my first PS2 with Timesplitters, DOA 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament. Great memories.
I still own a ps2 and often play it, I was reading about these two exclusive games SHOX and FRONT MISSION 5 and I became interested in playing them.
You also got Ridge Racer V stuck on PS2. I used to have Sky Gunner - fun game but horrible slowdown sometimes.
Man I need to get a hdd or a sdcard for my ps2. To expensive trying to buy all those amazing games the list never ends😂

The PS2 had some excellent titles under its library. I need to get myself a PS2 and play some of these classics.
Godhand was a blast 2 play
Oh Ape Escape 3 is my favourite. They also have Metal Gear Solid bonus game in there too. And Genji is my favourite too after i was playing Devil May Cry 3

Thank you so much for shining some light on Sengoku Basara. I do recommend the mainline series but BasaraX sure is a satisfatory fighting game
unlimited Saga got destroyed on Metacritic by Critics and Users, back then.
Genji can barely be found now a days. Pretty rare Game.

For anyone looking for games similar to God Hand: have a look at Clash: Artifacts of Chaos by ACE Team. Part of the Zeno Clash series.
More adventurous with connected world in terms of structure, rather than chapters, but it does have finding and customizing different styles and special attacks. To a lighter degree than God Hand, but still fun.
Plus, set in a fantastic prehistoric fantasy monster world full of color, freaks, good voice acting and writing and fantastic music.
I'd also like to add Kya: Dark Lineage to this list. Only being available on PS2 didn't do that game favours in terms of how well-known it ended up being. Which is not all *that* well-known.
It's a damn CRIME that Godhand hasn't been ported to any platform in remastered form, it would do so well now than when it came out back then.
I replay Ape Escape 3 at least once a year. It's easily in my top 5 for the system!

Uwoooh Front Mission! But I prefer FM 4 compared to the 5th one.
Good picks here! Gradius V may be the best shooter ever made. Although it did appear on PSN for PS3, so it wasn't exactly stuck on PS2.
Same goes for Genji and Godhand.
Unlimited saga sounds like Octopath Traveler.

I've always found basara x a bit laggy. The input latency can be noticeable enought to make some not wanna keep playing

Timesplitters never really appealed to me before, but now as I look at it, it kind of reminds me of Goldeneye 64 so I might give it a shot! I liked Ape Escape 1 and 2 so I'd probably like 3 as well! I've only played the demo for Genji, but I enjoyed it!

Teach me how to play unlimited saga sensei😭! I gave up years ago because i didn't understand the combat system but i love the saga games. Was very surprised to see it here.
pretty sure i have godhand on the ps3, actually a lot of ps2 games got ported to it but only digitally

Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, which is in a similar vein gameplay-wise, is also good stuff.
The saga games are all pretty good, they're closer to American CRPG's than a traditional JRPG with how open ended and unrestricted they are
didn't expect Unlimited Saga to be on this list. Even as a diehard SaGa fan, i hope for a total remake overhaul in an eventual remaster bc that game is painful to play. I don't hate it, i just don't love it (yet).

The very first game I played when I got my ps2 emulator working was Front Mission 5. I love all the other games, but 5 was so cripplingly boring. I got 50 hours in and still couldn't care about a thing. Story, characters, customization is all so much worse than 4, which is a shame.
can someone tell me whats the name of about a guy exploring his farm and completing the task??? like he will respawn on a field and theres a store there but need to unlock and he can cut the grass or sumthing tall looking grass and theres a cow there…
i played it when i was a kid…

@@thatvideogamesshow I also just found Sky Odyssey which is a much different flying game but despite its simplistic looks and simulator style gameplay it's got a lot more to offer than I expected.
I just purchased God Hand yesterday on the PS3 store for $9.99.... Physical copy is way too expensive
36,99€ used. Not that expensive.
Xenosaga 2 is 90€ used.
Shadowhearts goes for 147€ used.
Shin Megami Devil Summoner is 169€
those are real expensive Games.
If the timesplitters wanted to destroy humanity why wouldn't they travel far enough back in time before we had weapons.

You could use this same title probably 20 times and still have room for more. PS2 and Xbox were an unbelievable Generation.

It's a tough question. There is no capcom 5, only 1 title of those ended up exclusive to the gamecube.

I remember there was a Timesplitters Game for Dreamcast.
I have been looking for that Sky Gunner game forever. I didn't know what it was called but i remember as a kid playing it on a demo disc and always wondering what it was called. That's a real nostalgia trip.

There's a whole series of strategy games called Kessen I really want to get remasters or just re releases. Like the first two games still work on PS2 perfectly but the third game for some reason won't work. I have bought multiple copies and each copy just won't work so Idk if it's the disc whenever they made the game or the factory or what but I have been wanting to play that game again for a while and can't. My PC probably couldn't run a ps2 emulator either if that game was ever even emulated.
My PS2 Slim only reads DVD ps2 games and not Compact Disc ps2 games. I feel your pain....
@GibbsBro It's weird because it still runs the very first ps2 games with the purple back. Very few games had that. It is what it is though. Maybe one of the other model of ps2 will work.
@@HamanKarn567 sounds like the exact opposite of my problem. You might have a local iFixIt location that can fix ur ps2. It's just the laser.
I only loved the first Kessen, the others I liked them but they were quite different.

I have Sengoku Basara 1 & 2 (Japanese Versions) because I didn't like thr English version changing the names of the characters and the dubbing
I still remember the first time I played God Hand and being sad that I had missed it from the PS2 release. The first time I played it was the digital release on the PS3 and very quickly fell in love with the game.

Herdy Gerdy. It wasn't the best PlayStation 2 exclusive, but it's an underappreciated game nonetheless. At its core, Herdy Gerdy is a strategy platformer that encourages players to be tactical. Unfortunately, the only way to play this game is on the PS2, which most people keep in a box in their attic
I bought a PS2, yet again, just to play Gradius V.
Arguably the gold standard of shooters regardless of system.

I just recently bought unlimited saga cause i know if i can ever figure out how to play it, ill enjoy it. But coming home exhausted from work and then trying to figure out what to do in that game is not an easy thing to do. It is very confusing and i need to put more time in it
ALL of those non linear Saga games - unlimited saga, saga frontier 1 and 2 are all terrible

The PS2 truly is the best console ever made
It always amazes me that when it comes to games of any generation, the ones that are most likely to get stuck are either dungeon crawler or jrpg type titles. I pretty much dont own any of these, hell i did not even hear of them until today for most of em. the closest i got is Timesplitters 2 and that one i just found recently by pure chance at a carboot. To many hidden gems out there but it is fun to learn about em and potentially discover even after 20 plus years, there is always something to look forward to play with.
Would recommend taking a look into the Maximo games and Kya: Dark Lineage as well. Perhaps The Mark of Kri too.

TimeSplitters is in the worst possible hands: Embracer Group. I doubt we'll ever get another game from this franchise. When Embracer Group "embraces" an IP, it is trapped in a limbo.

Genji Dawn of the Samurai looks amazing man. Hope they can revisit and rehash the game just as they did with Shadow of the Colossus.
please sto using emulator graphics enhancements. I want to see the non HD console games look the way they would normally look if played in an HD TV with an HDMI, not what emulators make them look like.
I mean technically if you use a retro tink 4k scaler or the retro gem 1440p hdmi mod you get a similar looking image
