We have unveiled our 2024 manifesto for the next UK Government
We believe developing a viable long-term plan that enables farm businesses to produce healthy food in ways that meet our climate and nature goals is essential. Without it, prospective governments risk breaking promises they make to the electorate on critical issues such as a resilient NHS, meeting net zero, or securing nature’s recovery.
Our manifesto details several commitments to ensure our future government supports farm businesses, benefits the planet and secures a food and farming system for all, including:
🌾 An agriculture budget large enough to properly support a widespread transition to nature-friendly farming
🔗 A fair and transparent supply chain to give farmers a better deal
📏 The introduction of core trading standards to safeguard UK farmers from competing food imports produced with lower standards of animal welfare and environmental protection
🥦 Action to support healthier and more sustainable dietary choices
💷 The delivery of ambitious farm-level payment schemes that make nature-friendly farming easy, profitable and the obvious choice
🌍 A new farming baseline to protect the environment, health and animal welfare
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Investment in the support available for farmers making the transition to a nature-friendly approach
