Was doing security training, and got to say your favorite phrase out loud. I was grinning ear-to-ear.
"You know, the sort of information you should never share with a stranger on the internet."
I love scam-baiting. Be rest assured it is an amazing thing to watch.
There is no soul known as scam-baiting here.
It is a very interesting thing to watch ok
I have come to know the soul known as Atomic Shrimp through scambaiting videos ok have a blssed day my friend
kindly watch it ok?
are you a young boy playing prang or not ok? you must work with me ok?
You may not want to send malware to scammers, but you still caused extreme physical pain to the one who was so strained he couldn't even wave anymore
😂
The aspect of asking the scammer to send a "Steamed Apple" card got me. Well done.
Huge fan of John Barosa/Warosa still being the theme song for this series.
Me too 🙂
Oh, sir... You are not a serious person, yet you are also not a small boy. What a force of nature you must be - thank you kindly for each and everything.
Just the other day, I got a (legitimate) notification that there'd been a data breach at some site I had been forced to sign up on to download some documentation for a thing at work. Except, when I read the nonsensical first name the mail was addressed to, I realized this was one of those sign-up processes I'd not taken seriously and spitefully filled out with completely bogus information. Other than my work e-mail, whatever information has gotten leaked will be completely useless and actively dilute any data set it's a part of.
I love having my information security paranoia validated like this.
I always try to confirm that something's a scam (for example, look at the email address or google reviews for it) unless it's something I'm not interested in anyway, because I have been wrong about something being a scam before.
For a couple things I used names that are not my real name. They only want "a" name, but don't demand any proof that it's correct. So when I see spam mail adressed to that "fake" name, I instantly know they somehow cought that name from some dubious list.
As soon as “child’s play” was mentioned at 14:39, I grinned and scrunched my fists in anticipation of the inevitable riposte: “Are you a small boy?”.
You did not disappoint, Atomic Shrimp. Mind you, doesn’t the threat “I’ll black you off” sound rather vulgar!
The addition of 'Oh hi Mark' in this video was just...perfection 👌🏼Here's hoping that next time there's a scammer named Lisa so you can deploy "You're tearing me apart Lisa!!"
😂😂😂
Yes 😂
"What a story, Mark!"
She'd end up at a hospital on Guerrero street
Where's my fucking steam wallet gift card, Denny?!
Thank you for the scam baiting videos OK. They are fun and make me feel good simple. Looking forward to next one OK. Stay bless.
Be rest assured it is well for you today, my friend
I was kind of expecting something along the lines of "Yes, I gave Andrew Jack permission to withdraw the money.".
That would just kill the conversation and out yourself as a scambaiter
I think I would've said, "I don't think I know an Andrew Jack but I do know Cracker Jack and Sparrow Jack" 🙋🤭🤣
"I gave permission to Andrew Jack's son."
"I just got off the phone with Andrew, who was furious that he was denied the inheritance sum."
@@pepebeezon772the reply Shrimp went with in the video did the same so
There are things you could send to the scammers (other than nonsense text) that could be funny but not harmful. I agree that sending malware is a bad idea, but there is nothing stopping you from sharing technical documents on sewage treatment, John Warosa erotic fanfiction, or even a PDF consisting of several hundred blank pages. Also, a corrupted file that cannot be opened may cause a bit of frustration but no actual harm.
Well now I'm going to write John Barosa fanfiction and send it to a scammer, thanks for that idea. John Barosa is his superhero/spy name and John Warosa is his real name. And he teaches small boys to fight crime.
Or a link to a really weird fanfic
I don’t think anyone was expecting that ‘Oh hai Mark.’
I appreciate how ethical you are especially when dealing with these unethical characters!
Requesting to be paid via gift card was a wonderful idea, although it's very likely to quickly end a conversation, sadly.
The satisfacting of uno reversing the scam is priceless though.
The one reason to not send malware to scammers is quite simple: It's illegal, and it could put YOU into trouble rather than scammers.
And even if a scambaiter did, they aren't going to publicise that they did for that reason either.
@@jakerockznoodles Indeed.
@@esmeecampbell7396no one’s talking to you
Exactly what he says in the video, but thanks for repeating it.
@@esmeecampbell7396 two years+ if found guilty
I really appreciate that you stick to fun and innocuous scambaiting rather than anything harmful. Respectful standards like yours are just as heroic as the scambaiting itself. :)
no you should install malware into there computers and hack all of them
Harmful to who?
The two people above me didn't pay attention to the FAQ segment
They say laughter is the best medicine. Even with a sore throat I can't help but giggle at these shenanigans. Thank you for making my sick days better 😂
I can listen to Atomic Shrimp talk for hours, lol. It's funny because I normally can't stand listening to people's ramblings, but his videos are some of my absolute favorites!
I want him to do an Audible reading so bad. I could totally see him reading something like The Invisible Man or any book really lol.
I love that you kept saying I have some questions over and over again. And when he finally said ok what's your question you said I can't remember anymore. Genius Mike!!
I hate it when I drop my phone into my bucket of lemon juice and it dissolves the phone number...
Not again, Manuel.
Its always the highlight of my day/week when I see a new Atomic Shrimp upload!
Regarding the FAQs and the reasons why NOT to send malware: Most email providers as well as ISPs will actively scan for malware and won't even deliver it. I know you mentioned that they might flag your account as problematic, but before you even get to that point, the malware won't even be sent, let alone received.
Watch out at work for people claiming to be from the corporate office asking you to count the safe or send them a copy of the schedule. They can hack the caller ID and put whatever name they want on your phone to make you think you are actually talking to that person. Never agree to take money to walmart or anywhere because of "missing money from the safe" or "counterfiet money deposited accidentally.". Many businesses have been hit this week.
Wow they are trying anything these days🤯 that's a tactic I've never heard before. Good looking out!!! 👍
Spoofing the caller id (sender's number or sender-id name) like this is also used to add malicious sms messages to an existing authentic text message thread.
This has happened to my company twice in the past year
@@stonehenge55 Yes, it goes around every 4 or 5 months.
Whereabouts has this happened? I'm curious
Hello, Atomic Shrimp! I would wave, but my hands are much too tight. I'm not sure why, but this scambite made me laugh much harder than the last few did. They are all funny, but this one was extra! Thank you for all that you do.
I want to see what the scammers would say if when they ask for a dilivery charge, you look up a cheaper dilivery service and pretend to organise a dilivery for cheaper
Great idea!😆😆😆
I would enjoy a video that cuts together all the different reasons you haven't been able to talk on the phone. This is one of the really good ones; it's short and sounds plausible if you're not paying attention. "Dissolved" could mean something business-y about losing the number; no time to look it up when you're trying to land the fish.
I love when you play with them, waste their time and frustrate them.
When all this is said and then, we need a movie on the escapades of Mr. Mange Tout.
Great video! I needed the come down after watching high octane scam-baiting vids right here on YT, it's like changing to classical music, watching One Man And His Dog or Points Of View. Keep up the great work...
Boy have you got your money’s worth on the intro&outro song. It’s great!
Excited to learn deep Mange Tout lore, apparently about the same pH as calcite water!
Not really sure what happened there, an autocomplete failure? Some sort of copypaste degradation?
You bastard, you got me at 14:33, here i am following along with the usual "the sort of information you should never share...." and you changed it on me oh i was laughing for good minute, thank-you
I love it when you turned their script around asked them for gift cards.
Yeah that was indeed great 😂
You seem like such a decent guy.
Your posts are always class and enjoyable.
What is the longest amount of time you have had a scammer on the hook? Love this series by the way as well as all your videos, keep up the amazing work!! :)
3:38 Five thousand o'clock USD? Wow, that sounds amazing!
Is it five thousand o'clock already?
Time is money!
I love the part where you instructed the scammer to buy a gift card and send you the code 😂
Tommy Wiseau makes an appearance, I see what you did there.... Well played Mike, brilliant as always! 😆
I just finished binging all your other scambaiting videos, this one comes just in time
I lost it at "OK so go to the store right now immediately OK simple and buy the card right now OK simple immediately scratch the back simple and send the photo immediately right now OK".
Brilliant.
"I can't remember my questions. Can you help?"
Classic.
Also, Oh hai Mark. "I never hit her, I didn't hit her, I did not...." Nice one
that is *not* how the line goes
you clearly have not heard it enough times
@@rokkraljkolesa9317 I know.... maybe someone can help
For anyone considering sending malware to anyone for any reason: It does not matter if you are acting on a moral purpose, sending malware is against the law and can be prosecuted. Even things that dont directly cause harm such as performing a port scan can be seen as illegal in some cases. Please be careful and stick to legal means of reporting scammers.
I'm going through a spate of getting clearly fake emails about my Amazon account...to an email address that hasn't had one in a decade. I'm more angry these aren't going directly to my spam folder so I have to keep marking as spam. Hotmail need to do better at noticing clear spam before it hits my inbox.
At some point in your life you must have actually sat down and watched The Room in its entirety. I find great comfort in this.
Ohai Mike. Also, I love how up to date with memes you are :D
i also enjoy the implication that Mange Tout (AS) doesn't know what "The Boy who cried Wolf" is.
Thank you for your scam baiting videos! They actually helped me spot a very convincing scam, not long ago. Just wanted you to know that you're helping people! ❤
"aye girl, lemme get yo number"
"I can't give out my number anymore bc it dissolved."
How weird, I just saw The Room last night in the Prince Charles Cinema in London as an Immersive Experience thing. Lots of spoons being thrown and shouting out etc., it was hilarious!
Funny how I now know what that _"Oh hi Mark"_ is.
You are tearing me apart!
I deed nawt heet hur, thass boolsheet! I deed naaht.
Oh wow! I wish I’d been there.
@@AtheistOrphan Apparently it's done fairly often, my friends who I was with have been before. And people in the queue were so platitudinal that it was my first time.
@@ElvenSpellmaker - Thank you. Yes, I’ve just been on the cinema’s website and there’s a screening coming up featuring a personal appearance by Wiseau himself!
Interestingly, The address at 9:27 is technically the real address of a Metro Bank branch, although they’ve somehow managed to change ‘Holborn’ to ‘Hollyburn’ which makes me think that multiple people clearly came up with this script and this particular detail must have somehow got lost in communication.
It’s Wavey, Davey from Novelty Island. You could offer scammers beach front property in Arizona as bait
It always makes my day to see a new atomic shrimp scam baiting video. Thank you so much for your efforts and your great sense of humor- bringing joy in the form of salty-sweet scammer tears. Happy holidays to you and your family!
8:45 Steamed apple card LOL and then using the scammers script was brilliantly funny
Responding to them in bad grammar is great. It’s not just funny, but also makes it harder for them to learn from you how to sound like a real banker/pastor/politician/founder of Microsoft.
I like to think a least a few scammers have gotten worse at written English after these exchanges.
Enjoying you content, so simple OK
Also, love that youre not the kind of person to take things to that next level.
Some people do, and I think its important to be both mentally and technologically prepared to cross that line from, simple menacing time wasting to white hat activities. Part of what I so respect about you is that you know where that line is, and you don't cross it.
As corny as it sounds, you're genuinely something of a hero to me.
i particularly like the last little bit of sending an email to the 2nd address. i wonder how unnerved that made the scammer?
Oh hi Mark. Damn, that made me die of laughing!! 😂 I love the way you handle these scammers and don't stoop to their level. Don't ever feel you have to change because others say so ❤
Oh hi Mike! This is a fabulous video again. Strangely enough I never had a scam mail myself, but you provide me with a lot of information to make the scammer turn green with purple polka dots, just in case. 😅
The way you deal with the scammers is fascinating. I appreciate you for not seeking revenge resulting in karma cause she is a b!tch🤭. Your videos were my first introduction to scambaiting and I can't get enough. Keep sticking it to them!!! Much love and gratitude 👍🥰
While I dont see many scam emails personally, you are the only scam baiter I know that deals almost exclusively with email scams.
I love listening to these while I'm at work.
Keep up the good work!
Been subbed for a long time & enjoy your scambaiting shenanigans. It's your channel & you just do it in your humorous way! Absolutely love the prose of some of your replies. Solid gold stuff! 😉
If anyone looks at timestamp 2:13 its quite funny because the email address says ghulam mustafa most likely the real email address user name and then the email signature is from the most conventional western sounding name 'Philip Fredrick' for credibility.
Thanks atomic shrimp I used one of your videos to teach my dad about a scam
that note about the Nigerian central bank was pretty interesting, glad you included it :)
I would love the idea that a bank has to pay out money in the millions and the customer tells them that they want to recieve it in Steam Gift Cards 😂 The bank director periodically walking to the next shop and buying hundreds of cards over the course of weeks
pH? He’s asking for your pH? So the money will be sent chemically?
Please don’t use the malware option. There are some other YT scambaiters who get into the scammers’ systems and do various things to them, and that is fine and often very funny. But your scambaiting is by nature much more gentle and this is one of the reasons why I follow you
Thank you for the video and remain bless!!
Come for the humor. Stay for the smarminess.
I always watch the scam bait videos to sleep. Its just honestly so nice and entertaining to listen to
Thank you so much for these videos. They give me healthy progress at work.
These are so amusing. Please keep up the good work!
I have gotten a couple of scam extortion type emails recently that seem especially awful. I could imagine them scaring people and it seems worse than the basic phishing emails. Is there any benefit/ place to report these type of things?
Forward them to report@phishing.gov.uk or via NCSC's SERS domain takedown service, and 7726 for scam texts.
I've gotten those k*ll me ones
For those not in the know, the famous John Warosa legacy fund consists in a legit 100% investment free risk of a consignment of inconspicuous gold bars. Demurrage not included.
The ph joke made me laugh way too much 😂😂
Same!
10:50 I like that they asked how acidic you are.
Love the videos, I am curious though, why did you stop calling them scambites?
asking to receive the legacy fund from a scammer in steamed apple gift cards is the new all time high
"A world is enough for the wise..." Truer words have never been spoken.
Thank you for being a scambaiter who does not distory the pcs of the scammers, so many do that and i believe it is cruel and childish
It's not cruel to take away the tools they use to rob people.
Idea: When a scammer asks for a high fee, tell them you will pay once you receive the money from another scammer.
10:52 Why does the scammer want to know your potential of Hydrogen? It should be 7.4±0.05. If it's outside of that range seek immediate medical attention.
These videos are so cosy and chilled
atomic shrimp. love ur videos mate. but i got an idea. what if you told the scammer you wanted MORE money than the amount listed? how would they respond...
Yay! I've literally been watching your scambaiting videos on repeat in anticipation of your next video
After dealing with Mange Tout, some of these scammers must wonder why they get up in the morning.
My hands have never been waving quite so much as now
When they ask for details, you could still send a word document that is very large and filled with random data. To add some annoyance...
Thanks for the upload, Shrimp.
Nice subtle reference to the room
i think the only real good reason to send malware to scammers (with government permission, because it is illegal), would be to gather information on the scammer, like their ip/location, their name, screenshots/videos of their computer, and their face, so you can take that info and report it. Even then, it could be a friends, library or even an infected computer, and plus you would need government permission because it is, once again, illegal. Getting a job at a government institution that might deal with scams would honestly probably be easier then getting permissions (and better than getting jailed/fined)
"i can't give you a phonenumber as it dissolved". Can relate
Eres la bomba, mi estimado camarón atómico, el único inglés al que le entiendo el inglés jaja, estoy tan acostumbrado al americano. En fin. Sigue así, salu2 pelu2 🇲🇽
Il never get tired of hearing you read out their messages. 😂
An ideaI I had a bit ago : Could you send the scammers already claimed gift cards?
A scambaiter (Pierogi? Kitboga?) did that, redeeming them while talking w/the scammer. The anguish of "No, do not redeem, STOP, *DO NOT REDEEEEEM!*" was 🤌
I think they usually ask for the code instead of physical cards, unfortunately
@@kathydodge8028 just send them the already used code, what's the issue?
I sent pre-claimed codes to one once, he must have been collecting the codes for his own use, because he was very upset and writing in shouty caps.
10:43 what do they need your pH for?
Maybe Option 5 is a Cheque or Postal Order... or maybe even luncheon vowchers.
Loving “The Room” references. That was a good Tommy Wiseau impression.
In mainland Europe I keep reading about an unsettling trend where, mostly old folks, receive phone calls or texts by people claiming to be a relative and that they need money to avoid jail time for an accident that they caused, or something along those lines. The money is then conveniently picked up by someone.
Some folks did have the wits and nerves to scam the scammer so that the police was waiting at the arranged meeting.
I wish that this type of scam could receive the atomic shrimp treatment.
"if you return without this dump question ill black you off"
I have no idea what this could possibly mean and I love it
