Still haven't opened mine. Lol. Have to check it now for defects. This is like THE toy to have for Filipino fans who missed out on the vintage releases. It's a great display piece for those who grew up watching the show.
Do not leave this closed...open it and check everything! Combine it test electronics in case you have to make a claim

the "fire alarm thing is not an issue. the duration is long because you need to volt him in from the head to toe. it mimics the magnetic sound from the show while they are volting in. then you press the button the head again to finish the combination. you actually press that button before you start combining them, there's a dialog in there to start the sequence
Voltus and Gaiking those robots that i always wanted when i was a kid,still admire them
I’m a big fan of all kinds of robot anime, so it was cool for me to discover that my Filipina mother actually knew about Voltes V when I asked her! Tempted to get this figure someday to see if she’d be interested in it too

Yes, this is what I did but no excuse when you pay $600+ for something. It needs to have zero issues. If I can buy a perfect action figure for $14.99 theres no excuse for this. The price I pay includes what they charge to maintain quality control

I know its been awhile since you posted this,
but the “annoying” sound after volt in, can be cancelled by pushing the tiny button behind his head.
(volt crewzer) This concludes the “volt in sequence” thats why his eyes light up and he says “Voltes V”.
Great review! Definitely reach out to Bluefin. I had to reach out to them when I had an issue with the neck ratchet on the blue lion from my Soul of Chogokin Voltron set. They sent me a whole blue lion and said to keep the faulty one. They have great customer service and you can speak to someone directly.
How did you reach out to them?
@RocketPunchArmy - The proper ears are the red ones. The white ones may have just been put there so the red ones won't get scratched while in the packaging as the head was squeezed in tight.
I doubt it since the white ears are painted and the red ears are molded red. But yes Im glad the issue is with the white and not the red
@@RocketPunchArmy Thanks for the shoutout for the Filipinos. The English dub for Voltes V was done in the Philippines in the 70's, so we grew up with Voltes. Unfortunately, the last few episodes were not broadcasted during that time as the government asked the airing to be stopped due to the series' disposition towards rebellion. We were under martial law at that time. The ending was only aired more than a decade later. Also, a local TV network is currently creating a live action version of Voltes V :) Hope it lives up to the hype.

Bad ass looking voltes! The fire alarm sound in the head could be a low battery. I had that light and sound Godzilla from Bandai and his batteries were low and he would make some crazy sound repeatedly
I am sure you can have your piece replaced if you write to Bandai directly.

The only issue i have is with the locking clip on the side when transforming the volt bomber... i was hoping that you would show a "proper" way of clipping it??
I was able to do it but it took quite some time because i don't wanna scratch or break it.

Just got mine yesterday and wasn't planning on opening it....sealed brown box. By the way, is there a batch number on these to know manufacturing dates or it doesn't matter as it's only a first short run and that's it.
Maybe someday their will be a dx chogokin golion.
Especially if Blitzway's version beats GX-71, Bandai would answer back ha ha
My issue is the on and off switch doesn’t turn off and it drains the battery in just a couple of days...

Is this the only way to get soul of chogokin voltes or is there a cheaper option without all the sounds?
I am not familiar with this robot, but I must admit that it is a wonderful figure.
PD: your logo robot looks like the lost son between mazinger z and getter poseidon xD.
At last ! Nice quick review. I love mine but also have issues:
- bomber articulation loose for the right shoulder
- many thin scuff marks on the blue plastic (due to transport ?), a bit on some of the grey (waist & shoulders)
- the same issue with the right ankle but not as bad as yours though. There must be a way to fix it, a screw somewhere.
Just to complete the information about die cast presence, some on the Volt Cruiser with the thrusters, and of course the wheels on the volt bomber.
Despite all this, I still think this DX is a must have. Got mine from Anime Export (JP) and have asked for a replacement of my Bomber, but I'm not very optimistic.
Was this rushed? Or different factory? Too many problems I see. Very rare for Bandai especially on a premium product
@@RocketPunchArmy its probably rushed. he wasnt supposed to be the fourth dx. its grendizer. look at the next dx.. its gaiking. they gone bck to the original soc chronological order.
Hey! You should check the voltes v mega trailer just recently released by gma. Its the live action adaptation of the hit tv series. Hopefully you would like its updated design.
The fire alarm is actually the first sound when they start to combine. You combined it in reverse. 😅

That alarm sound turns off when you manually press the button at the back of the head. It’s meant to keep playing because that’s the sound effect it makes when they’re combining. I don’t think this review did enough justice to Voltes V. I love your reviews, but as an avid Voltes V fan, this could’ve been done better.
Ok I get it, if you combine in the proper order instead of me doing it head last then it does imitate it. I just dont like having to manually press a button to shut it off. I appreciate the feedback. Will take into consideration for future reviews. I didnt grow up with Voltez V so its hard to do it justice. I can def understand what you mean. Thanks for watching!

@@derick5556 I def was in a hurry. I have an average view time of 3 minutes. Most of my videos are over 20 minutes so that ratio kills visibilty. So Im trying to keep the dialogue to a minimum to see if that helps. I love talking but channel needs to stay healthy too to keep RUclips algorithm in my favor. This could have easily been a 40-60 minute review normally but with a 3 min average viewtime, it tells me people lose interest very quickly. I have to find a happy medium.
@@RocketPunchArmy Charles, If I could recommend, for these bigger sets, do a unboxing video and review for the vehicles and accessories, and a separate combination and robot review. I think most of us that support your channel would be totally down with that, just to see a more thorough and concise review. I know it means more recording and editing but might be worth it.

I havent done the highlighting of diecast in ages due to time constraints. If I had more time I would love to do it again
Die cast in the joints, part of Helmet & thrusters of the cruiser, the whole chest front piece, back of the thighs, majority of the feet

How do you compare this to the DX soc combattler V? which one feel more DX and premium ?
If the SOC was bigger it would probably be more premium but at that size some things have to be compromised. But size does make a difference in feel.

Mine also have the issue where the right foot do not lock in well. It seems a little better than yours in that it will stay in place after I push it in with some force, but comes apart pretty easily. And I'm guessing eventually it will become like yours where it doesn't lock at all. That foot (non) locking design is pretty bad in my opinion and baffling on such a big figure, where there should be plenty of room to design something that locks in securely.
I do think it's worth the money, but at the same time I wasn't super impressed with it either (it didn't help that I got the Pose+ Baikanfu at about the same time and was blown away by it). It's basically the same figure as the Action Toys Mini-Action Voltes with less articulation, a couple of more gimmicks, and lots more accessories, so I didn't find a lot to be excited about. It does have a great presence just standing there slightly posed though, so at the end of the day I am happy to have it.

I would need someone to design it. Ibcan do 3D but very basic. Unless someone does it on thingiverse, forget it. Ill just leave red ears on for now.

The best classic style diecast gokin Mazinger is the DX SOC Mazinger. However it's long been sold out and ebay prices can be $800 to $1000. If you don't care about diecast and just want anime style piece for display you can also look at sofubi or other vinyl Mazingers.

That handle on the box is a nice touch. These are the modern toys that will stand the test of time, not marvel legends, not black series star wars, and not power rangers, great review! Can't believe you can't pose it looks like the legs are the only things that cant move much. Keep us updated on the problems.

The majority of my collection is Bandai but my support will come from Bluefin, not Bandai directly.
I actually dealt with Bandai directly before. They sent me a replacement fist for my DX Chogokin Combattler V. Yes, they much prefer you deal with the official distributor, but at the end, they were nice about it. I had to send them the duplicate fist first before they sent me the replacement. And yes, I communicated with them in Japanese. I don't think they have English customer service.

Yeah, was gonna say that the sound effect loops to simulate the transformation sequence. He also technically did the combination in reverse order, meaning that it makes sense for the looping sound to play from the head while the rest of the body is assembled if you assemble it from head to feet
