He actually didn’t run off. I you look closely, he dissipated as the Phantom Ruby itself was forcibly pulled back to Eggman, implying that he himself was an illusion.
If Sonic team actually mashed the two songs this wouldve been better than the actual theme cause like the song says "After all this time your back for more!!!"
It's a shame most of his battle themes don't mix well with the vocal version of his theme (despite all being remixes of each other lol), but this one fits it the best IMO. This is very pleasing to the ears. You did a good job mixing, but I'd recommend trying to bring the vocals forward a little bit more in the high energy levels, since they get almost drowned out.
We don't know what that update is for yet, it could be Super Sonic, could include that part with Infinite flying in Null Space which could be the final boss. We'll have to wait and see.
