good video mate
Rockwood Cemetery is where my grandparents were buried. I used to go there a lot with my family when I was a kid in the 2000s decade living in Auburn.
Hey phil I’m waiting for you to upload vlog 2000
The wait is over lol :)
When I was driving buses way back in the stone age there was a service to the crematorium in Rookwood Necropolis (Cemetery) and the last bus left the crematorium about 7.30pm which was very creepy in the dark winter months. The security guards were supposed to wait for us to leave and lock the gates behind us. There was a particular security guard who locked the gates before the bus departed which trapped the bus inside the Cemetery. This was done so he could claim a call out to return and let the bus out. I can tell you that waiting for up to 1 hour for him to return and being the only person on the bus is really creepy and you start hearing and imagining all kinds of things.

Great video Phil! Just thought I'd let you know there will be a NIF transfer tonight (16/11/2022) from Port Kembla to Eveleigh with locomotive G513, run number will be either 9176 or 9178.
Cheers mate
Any idea on what times?
Also thank you :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs all good! I don't have exact times but it usually leaves Port Kembla around 3-4pm and gets to Eveleigh around 8pm, I'll let you know when it leaves if you'd like
Im stoked for the 2000th vlog!
Vlog 1999!!! I’ve heard there’s a d set tomorrow at central platform 2 (check AnyTrip)
Doesn’t mean it’ll actually be there, D Sets used to always appear on AnyTrip last year even when they were banned (which they still are today) so I doubt anything will show up at that time.
@@JenperTV Shut up don’t be a bot
@The Cat I’m just telling Jenper to shut up because he is telling illegal things to MsetFox.
Wait there was 1 new reply here what was it?
@The Cat Yeah because I can’t see your new reply cause it’s finding from me.
Hi Sydney trains vlogs I love your work your doing & that I'm a new subscriber to your channel.& your vlogs milestone is incredible.I have watched all your original vlogs you did in the past their all very nice.& especially your new videos.
Hi there :)
Welcome to the community and thank you so much for your comment!
I can’t believe everything that i’ve covered and filmed over the last 9 years. It’s my followers that keep me going :)
ok wow so close to 2000 got anything planed ;)
AMAZING
At 13.39 you see a long white cement wall. This was the site of Rookwood urban station, fyi.
ive viewed you since 2013 and your so close to 2000 vlogs already! I have a suggestion for vlog 2000! Maybe you could name it "Sydney trains vlogs the movie 5 | The Trainlink challenge" The trainlink challenge is where you have to go to every intercity station in nsw and at least vlog 1 or 2 trains per station.
Wait are you from 2013? I think you are
Wdym
Most of the vlogs were pre-recorded in the first place
OMG! Phil has one more video before vlog 2000! Oh my god I’m so excited!
Amazing video. Im excited for vlog 2000
The year 1999 that's the year i was born.
You mentioned the branch heading into the cemetery from Central...
You're likely not old enough to remember, but a few seconds after mentioning it, you can see the last remaining remnant of the rails that did this
Many, many years after the last train service to the cemetery, rails remained in place and were noticeable when driving over them on Railway Street. Perhaps you didn't recognise them as such as trains would first needed to go to Lidcombe station and then reverse (or shuffle the engine to the other end of the train) into Rookwood Mortuary Station
If you look on Google Maps, the path taken by the permanent way between the two stations is still clearly evident
I've always wondered though if it ever extended further towards Flemington or (more likely perhaps) the goods line on the eastern side, thereby permitting a direct service from Central without mucking about at Lidcombe
1 more video and you'd be hosting the 2000 Summer Olympics LOL
Very nice video phil! Very excited for vlog 2000!
Do you know if there is a specific area in the cemetery for the bodies exhumed from central? Would be interesting to see.
They are at a few cemeteries.
Including the Camperdown Cemetery.
I haven’t done any research yet as to exactly where in these cemeteries the bodies are located however i’ll look into it
My Great Grandmother was moved there and is in the far west corner of Rookwood nearest to Lidcombe but many of the graves were unmarked and scattered in other sections of the cemetery.
1 vlog away from the big 2000
Ive been a viewer for over 5 years and I'm so glad to see how much you've grown
I wish it's vlog 2000
Thursday :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs Can you post it at 3:09 pm?
@The Cat ???
@The Cat I’m not telling you
If you're in Marsfeild (again) & need to get to Epping, just get the 545 Parramatta bus to Eastwood (or Mac. Centre for the metro to Epping) & make your way from there, as I live within a 10min walk from the post office there.
Cemeteries are often fantastic repositories of local history, if you can get past the morbid factor. Great video.
Very cool structure, may try and check it out when I have time.
Sounds good :)
what time did you film this Phil great video
Regent St was actually known as "Mortuary Station" because of the services to Rookwood. To this day I only know that beautiful building by that name. Nice vid Phil.
Next Vlog=Movie???
Not a 1 hour video but still pretty lengthy
Haha I got teasers
I reckon you should involve the Kiama picnic train
@@MSTV_2024 No, Phil has a plan for vlog 2000
