The HAUNTING silence while she is singing compared to the roar of “I step into this circle with a Gibson in my hand”. The crowd was fully engaged! So cool!
I've been away from country music for years. I'm another '90s country fan, so Ashley is fairly new to me as I bring myself back to "modern" country. This woman makes me cry... with happiness, with sadness, with love, with pain. WOW. What a voice! What a song!! I'll be listening to more of her, that's for sure!
Her voice crack when she said “and y'all sure look good out there” literally brings me to tears every single time I watch it, and I've probably watched it over 200 times. Ashley McBryde KEEP MAKING MUSIC. Also I'm so glad One Night Standards is charting!!! Congratulations!
I never make it through this song without crying. the emotion and the victory. I saw Ashley numerous times before "she went somewhere" she's talented and hilarious.
She's not just an entertainer, this girl is a REAL musician. Great song, I'd love to see a modern day version of the Highway men with her Ashley Mcbride, Shooter Jennings, Jamey Johnson and Chris Stapleton!
Why Is the line 'as I step Into this circle with a Gibson In my hand' not in any other version of Girl goin nowhere. - Jacqueline We put that’s line in the lyrics for one special night only. My debut. To keep that special, that’s the only time I’ll do it. Only when I’m playing my Gibson and I’m in the circle.
Ashley ! YOU are So Very Special... I admire your talent and effervescence when you "sing" a story, with such profound emotion. You exude the purity in Country Music, as it was meant to be, from the early legends of long ago to the those who seek the revitalization of today's true COUNTRY Music. THANK YOU for .... well, ... Y O U !!! God Bless You Ashley.
Describe what it feels like to you to be standing in the circle. - Raelene You’d think standing in that circle would feel Iike all the Opry members from all of history are piled on your shoulders... but but it doesn’t. It is an eerie feeling but in a really good way. Maybe eerie isn’t the right word...reverent might be better. It feels like all the Opry members of all the years gone by are standing behind you encouraging you and saying “ we’re glad you’re here with us.”
Thank you for sharing how it felt. This video is one of the most inspirational, beautiful things I've ever experienced. Thank you for showing us that dreams can come true! I love your voice and your music.
Ashley, as a dad of a daughter about your age, I know yours is so proud of you. You have a God-given gift for lyrics and song. Praying for you and your career.
No audience will ever care for an artist as much as this one does for you and everyone else who puts their heart out there in song. They *heard* you in your song and rose to their feet to say with all their heart "Job well done." You deserve to be standing in that circle.
I know there’s a special dressing room artists get to use only once, on their Opry debut. What can you remember about that room? - Lesley I’ll never forget that room. Room 4. You only get to be in that room on your debut night. The only other time I’ve even poked my head in was to congratulate another artist on their debut. And I didn’t step all the way in. I just poked my head in to keep that tradition alive and pure.
I got to experience it in HS Basketball. We played in front of 500- 1,000 - 2,000 fans a game. Some of our crowds were bigger and louder than others. When it was loud and a lot of people were cheering LOUDLY it was cool. Got you jacked up playing in front of a big crowd cheering hard when you make a basket or a dunk. So cool to thrill the crowd as a former athlete.
What advice would you give to a girl who’s dream is to make it to that stage? - Kelli First of all, if I can stand on that stage... you can stand on that stage. That’s part of the beauty of country music. You can be from anywhere and be of any status. The only thing you have to do is put in all the work. And if you love performing and writing and singing that isn’t too much to ask for. Hell, it’s hard to shut us up , those of us that have the bug. Just know this, The Opry wants you there. Country Music wants you there. Anyone whose dream is to help carry on the tradition of country music is welcome. The work isn’t easy and it can be really frustrating but it’s worth it to hear “We’re happy you’re here with us tonight“ on your debut.
It helps that you have a good voice, and your song-writing skills are excellent, Ashley. However, this song is an extra special example of your talents. It is so powerful, and tells your story well, kind of like Janice Ian’s At Seventeen, which touched me back in the ‘70s and I still love going back to that song when I need to feel, and enjoy a melody. I’ve watched you play this song at least 50 times, mostly from this Opry performance. I suspect I’ll keep coming back to this video for many more decades, Lord willing.
I can not believe a teacher would tell a student's her dream is stupid. They should encourage all young people to dream. I am so proud to know they're young students that do not allow someone especially a teacher to detour them from following they're dreams. Thank you for making sure this teacher see you made your dreams come true and to let other young minds know "Dreams can come true" Thank you. Diane
I’m a HUGE fan of ppl who can stand up in front of a crowd, behind a guitar, and pour their hearts out. Ashley McBryde is my new most favorite artist of any genre by far!!! My question is why don’t I hear her songs played more often on the radio? I’m a strictly country music listener while using radio in my car. I’ve just recently discovered this completely authentic country music badass! I wish I would’ve heard her sooner! I mostly hear male artists playing. The music industry needs to take notes from Ashley McBryde!!!
I am a musician and a Teacher and I can honestly say anyone who says to someone their dream will never happen is not a true Teacher! Jesus! That is just an abomination of a Teacher. But anyways, I hope whoever reads this that there are Teachers who know very little and believe in yourself and you will go far! You gotta get up and TRY!
Anyone who says that) is also a jealous fool, nobody especially a teacher should ever crush someone's dreams, if you make it or if you don't, at least you dared to dream, Ashley has definitely made it, 🧡💚💛
Best motivational and inspirational song on the internet!!! If her song doesn't move you then you're not a human. So, so sad that a teacher would do this to a student. Ashley took it and used it as motivation to supercharge her potential and ultimately her future. My favorite song hands down!!!! You GO Ashley!!! Much LOVE to you girl!!!
I have never heard a story of such verbal brow beating as this woman's. She is an amazing artist. ❤🤍💙 You never knew it and neither did we, but we've been waiting a long time for you to come along.😊👍
From the first "Not bad for a girl goin nowhere" the tears just started rollin down my face. Ashley I can't afford my mascara as it is girl! Dang it! That was beautiful!!!
Oh man this song gets me right in the heart! Ashley is so good! She has an ahhhhhmaxing voice, a mix of a little BA, a girl with a Faith and I’m a huge Fan!
This song just hit in the heart of me like hearing ur story behind it and never let a teacher to judge a student's dream to be someone as famous anywhere. So Ashley u made it so far in country music as yourself on music row in Nashville cuz u are strong, brave, tough, coolest person inside and out everyday so let ur spotlight shine on u forever.
I’m so proud that you never, ever changed to fit what “they” said you had to do..to this day, I still can’t watch your debut at the Grand Ol Opry without crying. Ty for being true to you 💙💪💙💪
I cry every time I watch this! Girl power! So very proud of every person who has a dream and stands for what they believe in. What a proud powerful moment.
I'm a rap/rock guy but this is my favorite video on RUclips. The look in her eyes the first time she sings the lyrics "Not bad for a girl going nowhere" is so powerful and motivational.
I know exactly why this made me just burst into tears! Like so many of us, at some point by someone we were all told we'd never make it! I've never seen this performance before today simply because today was the day I needed to see it! Ashley is so brilliant!
The emotion this song evokes is overwhelming. I once had a teacher who refused to enroll me in college preparatory courses. Additionally, a principal disregarded a teacher's claim that I learned differently. Furthermore, a boss criticized my writing abilities and suggested that I would never progress. Online users frequently ridiculed me for my writing, particularly my spelling. When I was in college, a professor recommended that I undergo testing because my oral and written language skills did not match. An expert later diagnosed me with dyslexia and reassured me that I wasn't unintelligent. Despite these challenges, I obtained a Master's degree and became a librarian. I strive to assist every marginalized student who visits the library at the vocational school where I am employed. Providing individuals with the necessary tools can yield remarkable results.
Dear Ashley McBride I believe you should track down the teacher that inspired "Goin Nowhere"" and thank her for challenging you. Because with out that interaction the world would be without your song. I am not kidding I have not been able to shake it out of my head for several days. Thanks for your work keep going. When they introduced you at the CMA they said about you "Country Music is in great hands. And so it is... Sincerely Rick Rieser MD
NEVER CHANGE who you are Miss Ashley! You are exactly where your meant to be & you are loved more than you’ll ever know! ~ Sending big love from Indiana!! I hope to see you someday!❤️
Thank you for the love & support towards me on my page I really appreciate you and can't thank you enough. I can't meet with all of my fans but i make out time to chat with few write me with the email address above on my username to stand a chance for meet and greet 💗💗😊
So happy this is coming back! Ashley, I know this song is about your deeply personal journey. But I have never related to a song like I relate to this performance. I fear and dread crying on stage so I was stunned when I saw how the crowd lifted you up during this performance and how you complimented them at the end. 'Look at you!' God, I love this and I love you for creating it. You are so special and I am so proud to have you in the country community. Your career is everything wonderful and special and singular about country music and country music culture.
I have to ask, since your Opry debut, has the teacher that doubted you in high school apologized or congratulated you for your success? I just wonder how she feels now - Kristen She emailed my mother. Saying things like “ we are behind Ashley and hope she continues to reach all of her dreams. “ Never an apology though.
Im glad you didnt listen to her---- you are what little girls everywhere need to hear and see. Never let anyone douse your dreams. Thank you Ashley. This world needs more of you!
I think I'd be catty enough to send her a bouquet and a thank you card..... "because of you, I never gave up on ME. Thanks to you, my dreams are coming true!"
When you were up on stage and gazing out into the crowd did any face in particular jump out at you?- Miranda I saw so many faces I recognized. I didn’t realize I’d be able to see everyone to clearly. Still to this day when I play the Opry I can look in to the room, even when its empty and still remember who sat where... a lot of em anyway.
Ashley you did it!!! and I was that little girl wanting to see nashville with my name in lights be a musician like my daddy did in the 70's.. I wish I had never listened to all the times I was told I wasn't going nowhere, but you are a inspiration to all the girls out there with nothing, but a dream and a Gibson, so you keep on and keep pathing the way like the wonderful women of country before you and we'll keep watching and listening to the girl who went somewhere..
This was the most emotional thing I’ve ever witnessed...as a struggling singer I felt every single word of this song when I first heard it and even though I’m not no one big like Ashley has made it to be it just makes me feel something I can’t explain...she is my reason for wanting to keep pushing and my idle this girl deserves that spot on that stage and I cried right along with her because I felt her appreciation her pride and her nerves...keep it up Ashley you are absolutely amazing and you’ve taught me so much whether you realize that or not I hope to be a piece of the artist you are...country music should be proud to call you one of its own girl and damn right to that Gibson in your hand!!! Still wiping tears lol!!!!
It's a powerful thing to literally watch someone's dream come true before your very eyes. I wish I could have been at this show. You deserve it girl and I wish you nothing but the best!
It was truly magical watching you inducted into the Opry last Saturday, 12-10-22. What a class act and beautiful soul! I felt and cried every tear you did, Ashley. You are so talented and deserving of this distinction. God Bless you!❤
This song and this performance changed my life. It became a mantra and a reminder to "passionately pursue what sets your soul on fire". And now the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry. What a legacy.
Someday I will be able to listen to this version right here and not cry. Maybe. Thanks for the music Ashley, and I am so glad to witness your success. You earned it and deserve every decibel of the applause you get every time you share with us.
Ashley, I saw you many years ago at Hardrider Bar and Grill. I knew then, it was just a matter of time. I cry happy tears every time I watch this video and saw it live, that night. You made it girl. So proud of you.
This was the first video I viewed of Ashley performing. Brought me to tears in my college freshmen dorm. From that point on, I have been a huge believer in all things McBryde! Been to a couple of shows and met her once. So glad this is coming back! Hate it was ripped down.
Youre the best singer songwriter I've enjoyed since wynona. You write and sing from the depth of your soul and have a tone that takes that song with a true connection through the stratosphere. Just love you being you ❤❤❤💯💯💯💯
Of ALL the emotions you had to be experiencing that night, what was the single strongest emotion or thought that kept running through you? - Merritt Out of all the things I felt... Nervous, excited and everything between, the most overwhelming feeling was that it felt like coming home after being homesick for a long long time. That choked-up, finally here feeling.
Woo gets me everytime when she tears up. 😭😭Such a wonder amazing beautiful woman. Don't know her personally but her music sure makes me feel I do.. #1 wish is to do is meet Ashley & Dolly & Reba in my life.. Bucket list wishes!!😁😁
I had chills throughout this entire song. And tears right along with you!! I love it when a song can elicit so much emotion. This makes two of yours that have brought me to tears today!
It's finally coming back!!! Missed this video so much!! One of her best performances in my opinion. The way she changed the line to, "and I step into this circle with a Gibson in my hand", made me feel so proud of her for making it to where she is today, despite all the people who said she'd never make it. Much love Ashley, keep doing what you do best. Which is making music that makes people really feel something genuine. Thank you for being one of the best influences in my life! ❤️
no teacher who is truly a teacher would ever take a dream from a child, I am so glad you kept movin forward, you are really talented obviously, love that you did not allow it to take you from us.

I love this song! It helps me sometimes to remember all those who swore i would never get off meth or leave my hometown 2 years clean the 16th my son helped me i made my kids a promise to stay off meth and pills and I have every intention on staying clean i never want them to see thier mother in the condition I was in I was so depressed and hated my life! Suicidal and in a toxic relationship every thing has changed and though it's not a cake walk bu God's grace I am here alive and breathing
Ashley is exactly what Country Music needs today.
yes she is.
God bless you young lady!
This is what ALLLL music needs today!
Most underrated female country artist of the decade
I love this song because it reminds me of all those people who said 21 years ago that I'd never get sober or stay sober...

Very cool. Proud of you 👍
Ashley, I've been following your career since Eric Church introduced you on stage that night.
This girl can pick a guitar almost as good as she sings. Phenomenal ❤
The HAUNTING silence while she is singing compared to the roar of “I step into this circle with a Gibson in my hand”. The crowd was fully engaged! So cool!

Absolutely beautiful song and performance. Ash is the real deal, no doubt about it!
I-m a 58 year old man watching this for the hundreth time and crying again. Ashley has a God given Beautiful heart and soul. She is a Beautiful Lady.

I was so upset that I couldn't find it - it's a miracle that it's back!!

This is literally one of the most touching moments. Has me in tears every time I see it. Love ya Ashley!

Why Is the line 'as I step Into this circle with a Gibson In my hand' not in any other version of Girl goin nowhere. - Jacqueline
We put that’s line in the lyrics for one special night only. My debut. To keep that special, that’s the only time I’ll do it. Only when I’m playing my Gibson and I’m in the circle.
Thank you so much. I was there for your debut and It was special xz
Make sense! I love it! Thank you for everything you're doing!

I miss this kind of emotion in a song. When you put your heart into the lyrics, all you need is a couple chords to make them live forever.
I hope she sees this ❤️🙌🏼

They told her she couldn’t 🤠🎸🎼 so guess what she did … amazing talent Ash Congratulations girl you’ve proved em wrong this song gave me goosebumps !

My god I love you woman! Ashley Mcbryde is one badass mamajamma. This is as pure it gets. A little girl, a big dream and a Gibson! Love this so much.
Real Amazing to see a shooting star standing here in my kitchen in the middle of the day.
I have to ask, since your Opry debut, has the teacher that doubted you in high school apologized or congratulated you for your success? I just wonder how she feels now - Kristen
She emailed my mother. Saying things like “ we are behind Ashley and hope she continues to reach all of her dreams. “ Never an apology though.
there are a lot of people who have been told the same basically- thanks for giving us a song.
What a travesty that the teacher felt the need to douse your dream. But maybe her words made you more determined. I am glad you persevered.
You are a classy lady. I would have named the teacher.
Listen to this all the time and it still brings me to tears. Don’t you ever let anyone tell you which way you’re going.
Just wonderful !
U deserve EVERY SINGLE ONE of those applause and then some 💓
That's so thoughtful of you Colleen Thanks for your positive review, How are you and how's the weather over there?
When you were up on stage and gazing out into the crowd did any face in particular jump out at you?- Miranda
I saw so many faces I recognized.
That's so thoughtful of you Thanks for your positive review, How are you and how's the weather over there?
God Bless you!❤
love the humanity in this performance!!!
That's so thoughtful of you lianne Thanks for your positive review, How are you and how's the weather over there?
😀 That girl can sing, write and hold the audience, great job!
Hello, how are you doing? Greetings from California
Heard her play it live in Glasgow recently and just wow!!!! The passion and emotion just melts your heart. Love her♥️
This is The anthem for EVERY kid who dreams of being a famous musician!!
This was the first video I viewed of Ashley performing. Brought me to tears in my college freshmen dorm. From that point on, I have been a huge believer in all things McBryde! Been to a couple of shows and met her once. So glad this is coming back! Hate it was ripped down.
She is the equivalent of a female version of Hank Williams Sr. Her music and singing comes from the heart.
- Merritt
Out of all the things I felt... Nervous, excited and everything between, the most overwhelming feeling was that it felt like coming home after being homesick for a long long time. That choked-up, finally here feeling.
Well, that makes complete sense since that circle is where you were destined to be.
You are supposed to be in our lives and on our radios!!!!
Eric Church was right?? Not bad for a girl going nowhere!! You go girl, if I was 50 years younger I would play bass for you for nothing??
Woo gets me everytime when she tears up. 😭😭Such a wonder amazing beautiful woman. Don't know her personally but her music sure makes me feel I do.. #1 wish is to do is meet Ashley & Dolly & Reba in my life.. Bucket list wishes!!😁😁
Girlfriend I'd say, 'You've Made It to the 'BigTime!'💯And you ain't changed a bit!🇺🇲
We Love You!💕And we Always Will!🙏☝️
5 years and I still watch this... beautiful moment in country music! ❤️❤️
I had chills throughout this entire song. And tears right along with you!! I love it when a song can elicit so much emotion. This makes two of yours that have brought me to tears today!
That's so thoughtful of you Thanks for your positive review, How are you and how's the weather over there?
100% Pure Country Gold
May God bless you Ashley. Thank you for being such a pure musician and entertainer.
Now that right there is the best performance I've ever seen.

Trust in God. I’m so proud of you!
God bless and keep going...one day at a time.. "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change and the wisdom to know the difference."
