@chadhaire1711 I will always pick the lexus phev above any ev, including Telsa

@@dayoadeosun1520 It will take 250,000 miles of driving for a PHEV to pay for itself IF you can do 50 gas/50 EV, but the majority only do 75/25 so will take 500,000 miles. By then you could be dead from old age, but if you are not, that battery certainly will. That will cost you another $5K-$10K. There is no advantage of a PHEV...they are scams.

@chadhaire1711 I am based in the UK, the idea of a phev is that, it is best of both world. I can drive on cheap electricity tariff around town. I also do longer journeys on weekends and I don't want to worry about availability of public chargers. Thirdly, in some province in Canada or States in the US, this lexus quality for a tax refund and it will make it cheaper than the standard hybrid version. Fourthly, in terms of reliability, toyota and Lexus phevs would last longer than all electric cars, including Telsa. Fifth reason, I currently drive about 17k miles per annum and it would increase to over 20k miles per annum in two months. I get free electricity in some supermarkets and I charge it at home. So, for me, after 4yrs, it is cheaper to own this car than a comparable BEV or HEV.

@@dayoadeosun1520 There are no tax breaks for most PHEV made over seas. There is no such thang as cheap electric, it costs $2.37 for 31 miles of charge. Even with tax breaks you have to drive 150,000 miles before you get even and by then that battery can die costing $4K to replace. You are living in a scam and dont even know it. By the way dont park your PHEV in garage unless you have fire insurance.

Plug-in is for idiots who cant do math. It would take 250,000 miles for the plug-in to pay for itself and by then the battery will be dead costing another $5,000 to replace.

Pure EVs are OUT. Buy a non-Plug In Hybrid. They give you a Plan B. Eliminates range anxiety and you can always switch over to using the ICE if you're not able to find a charging station.
