They are awesome live. I first saw them for Joshua Tree tour in 1986 or 87. It wasn't this big of a show, but I swear it was like a religious experience. Bono is just so charismatic. The whole band is great live really.
Popmart was my first U2 show.. it blew my mind. The disco lemon just sat there to the right of the stage teasing us until after the intermission. The whole Popmart theme was to make fun of how big they were at the time. It was absurd and similar to the Beatles back in the day saying they could write about any sort of nonsense and people would buy it... Same vibe. And yes you should watch the whole Sydney Zoo TV show.. its mind blowing and the example of how a band should strive to do a stadium show, still today 30 years later.

A good proof that Bono is one of the best frontmen of a band out there,especially after we lost Michael Hutchence and Freddie Mercury before him. The Edge is that one guitarist for me,where i compare it to extremely unique voices,like f.ex Shakiras. All you need to hear is a couple of notes at the absolute max,to know its him playing. I could listen to him play guitar for hours,i just love his unique sound. In front of the Discotheque song,they were brought onto the mini stage in a (as already explained in the comments) flashy,spinning,gold looking discoball shaped as a lemon,to theyr song Lemon in a Perfecto Mix version. You have heard me say it before as a massive supporter of theese guys,the concert in Mexico City is one of the underrated concerts of theyrs,most people put alot of other concerts of theyrs above it. But for me personally this is U2 at theyr absolute best,just days after Michael Hutchence passed,one electrifying crowd embracing Bono and the guys griefing over the loss of a friend,it was like they put that entire concert down as a loving memory for Michael. U2 were on fire that entire concert,and the interaction with the crowd...... mindblowing! Of course i have suggested from that same concert theyr live performance of ONE when you come to that song in regards to reacting to U2 songs/music videos,but i cant help but recommend: U2 - New Year’s Day - LIVE FROM POP MART TOUR - MEXICO CITY 1997 #4K #REMASTERED. Adam has never sounded more amazing with his bass intro for me personally,and Bono becomes aware what several in the audience are doing during this performance,where he gives direct orders to his 2 light technicians. And the most amazing view hits you,as the crowd understand what Bono spotted and now the entire venue is doing it. Its one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen during any concert. Its just before Edges famous solo,and i believe i heard him say that this moment was one of the most memorable and most beautiful buildups he had ever gotten,when he saw what Bono did and noticed it himself. Bono is really passionate,emotional and therefor does things on the spot,so the other guys rarely knows what he is about to do lol. That often creates some of theyr most amazing moments. You owe it to yourself to see that performance too. It even carries on through Edges entire solo,but i cant say what it is,as it would go from a teaser to a spoiler. Its one of thoose "you have to watch it to feel and understand it". Soo much love in that crowd!!
I saw U2 at Wembley on their Popmart tour. The giant lemon mirror ball swept across the audience to the tune of Popmuzik before they came out and did Discotech. My feet barely touched the ground, but I ended up on one side of the stadium and back again over the show by osmosis, it was that intense.

The money on the stage during Lemon were Zoo Dollars, that they made for that tour. I think they were also using them as currency for all the crew, since they took everyone around the world. The PopMart Tour was the first time I got to see them live, so I have extra love for that tour =) They recorded a whole show in 3D here in Argentina, which was then shown in theatres. Sadly, they haven't released it on dvd or blu ray, cause I think you'd love it.

Another music video recommendation for my blunder: U2 - Sweetest Thing (Official Music Video) Im not gonna spoil the actual video,as you are gonna get several surprises that will make you either smile,or laugh. But if you at one point in the video see the words: "Im .......sorry",its said to be Bonos excuse to his wife for forgetting/not being home for her birthday,because he was out touring. You will absolutely fall flat for this song,so it might be my strongest recommendation going forward with a new U2 Music Videos episode!

U won't be dissapointed. Ive been to 7 U2 shows including live FRANKLIN field University of Penn. 90's. A few shows @ MSG and Phillly! best band LIVE
