i was born in Kingston (Hotel Dieu hospital) 64 years ago...spent part of my childhood there before we moved to Ottawa where my father was employed as the only Dutch musician with the RCMP Musical Ride...now living back in the Netherlands...i loved Kingston...miss Canada sometimes...
I never had any problems finding what I needed in Kingston with regards to shopping. I also liked that compared to where I currently live they don’t care if you are a bit different. Kingston is very welcoming
actually condos have a more affordable range in ottawa than in kingston and ottawa is a more prestigious place although ottawa is quite dead when it comes to downtown
For rent or to purchase? To purchase, you could find one for $250,000-$350,000, however, you would have a condo fee of between $280-$502 a month depending on the building
Love your channel. I’m American and want to move to Kingston. I’m 67 years old and a veteran who uses a veterans administration hospital. Can you guide me to some information on relocating to Kingston, but how do I get medical care? I hope you can help.
I would be happy to help. I would just need a little more information about your particular needs. If you want to e-mail me at soldbykathryn@outlook.com with a little more information, I'd be happy to help!
Trenton Belleville homeless is bad but Kingston is nothing like I ever seen before. It made me so sad and sick feeling I couldn't barely look driving past the one I went past today . Shopping I do agree with. The downtown is beautiful and homeless are usually very considerate downtown. So many options to shop and eat out. It's clean. I find the community is strong and friendly to. Everyone is trying and wanting to do something to help the homeless it's just a very hard uphill battle. Other then that and the drugs Kingston is gorgeous and I like it here a lot =]
Meth and other issues that arise from two terms of conservative cutbacks in provincial health care for both physical and mental health care are feeding the problem of homelessness like in most cities.

Queens University shorts the City of Kingston 48.5 million dollars per year currently conservatively. The business owners are targeted to make up this shortage, while city staff protect Queens from inquiries from paying tax payers about why they are not paying. We currently receive 1.5 million from the Federal Government, not enough revenue to cover 3 large buildings in the downtown area. 3 ? Business cannot survive here and the City doesn't doesn't care and the councilors are not competent enough to change the oil in their cars but are allowed to dictate where money should be spent. not their money, ours. The only time I see my councilor is when he is looking for votes, I have never been asked about how I think he should vote, not once, but its my money, my community. However I and no other person has any input, we can't select what we pay for and what we don't, that's communism, period. Don't pay and you will be threatened. As a citizen of this city .. I find it disgusting 🤢 the mayor has no control over the homeless.. they have destroyed the oldest neighborhood in Kingston and nothing is done.. horrible city ..
Are you referring to the area around Skeleton Park? How has it effected the area? I have always thought that that’s the neighbourhood I would most like to live in if I moved to Kingston.
@@michelemacdonald8600no she not… she referring to the fact the mayor care nothing for the homeless and they are homeless due to high rents and new immigrants get first priority over everything ….born and raised there, but would never tell anybody to live there, because now it looks like a mini Toronto…
The oldest neighborhoods is down near Queens my dear, and nobody has destroyed anything in that area…. Apparently you don’t know much about the city do you.
I lived in Kingston for about three years. Nice little town, lost of amenities and tourist sites. Its a tourist attraction town, beautiful for just that either visiting as a tourist, studying at queens or saint lawrence with money from your rich parents overseas or living in retirement owning your own place or renting property while working as a lawyer, doctor, or engineer. If you're are low skill immigrant avoid Kingston. Rent is insanely high and your chances of making it big are almost zero. You'll end up working minial jobs for minimum wage no locals will do. I'm talking production line, retail, customer service and fast food. A miserable experience awaits you. Make your money or get your experience and degree elsewhere then land a high paying job then buy a house and enjoy Kingston. The only happy people in Kingston are already there.

Can you please tell me about part time jobs in Kingston as I am planning to come to Kingston as a student.
Many businesses are having a hard time finding employees at the moment, so finding a part-time job should be pretty easy for you!!
Deciding between brockville or Kingston
Both nice places to live. Just really depends on exactly what you're looking for in a city :)
Brockville.. Kingston is run by the homeless!!
Ontario is terrible stay away to expensive!
Lots of cons in Kingston. Healthcare is crap at KGH. They’d sooner fill out a toe tag for you 😮
How is the publication transport for students? Do they need a card or is it free? Can you please let me know
