During these Metallica Reacts, Lex always has this look on her face like she is about to open a Christmas present. Like she is shaking the box, trying to figure out what's inside, but never can 100% guess whats inside...opens it up and says *"BEST PRESENT EVER"*

Lex how does it feel to be a Trash Metal fan ? 🤘
@@BradAndLex We Love You Guys 🤘🏾
@@tomkat4480 you missed the “h” in thrash my man.
I am a black man in his mid 50s I used to go to Metallica concerts and gigs before they hit it big due to a friend that turned me on to it. I was made fun for listening to this "white boy music" I listen to all music. It does my heart good to see people appreciate the greatness of the band for what they are and the genius behind the lyrics.
I'm curious? How well-received was you by the fans at the time you went to the concerts? I'm going to venture a guess and say that you were probably well received? Being a longtime fan I know the kind of people that go to those shows and they accept everybody from my experience. I've always felt that the 80s and 90s people didn't care they liked you or dislike you based on your character. Plus we had some of the best music came out of those two decades
@@Cosmictraveler71 I was well recieved for the most part. Of course there was the occasional stare even a "What are you doing here the (insert rap name here) concert isnt today." comment but heres the thing they wont tell you.
There are alot of black folks who are into Metallica. More than youd think. The more annoying thing is I now live in Europe and have some younger Metallica fans tell me who they are.
I am not a black man.
Same.
Oh yeah. I think I remember seeing you. You still owe me a beer. 😉
It was definitely 99.999999% white dudes at those early shows.
@@DLord227 Bro! Do you like Iron Maiden? They got something epic metal. I'm 45. Good music never dies.
How can anyone not love Lex. That smile and excitement on her face. She is such a metalhead! She’s discovered the endless treasure chest of metal music.
This song is just about the heavy metal culture, especially in the eighties when this stuff was new. If you were a part of it, you lived it, it defined who you were. The jean jackets with the patches and pins. The long hair and rebel attitude. This was my time and there will never be another like it.
I was there! i lived it. had the hair, the earring, the jeans jacket and patches and pins, and leather boots. That was my crowd and my vibe. I found Metallica in 1986 after puppets was released and changed my life. My first experience was hanging out at the local youth "Teen Center" and someone put on "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" and i was mesmerized by what I was hearing - had never listened to hard rock/metal prior to that. Before that I was a top 40 pop fan (Madonna, Jackson, Prince, etc).
I thought it was about human nature like when people see violence, they seek it out themselves. Kind of like when somebody gets jumped by a crowd and multiple people join in
💯
Thank God I was born in 1964 I was a teen in the late 70's and early 80's and metal and hard rock ruled.
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it was about the corporation of the music industry (and all the nastiness that comes with it) and how Metallica was now part of it, while still trying to be independent of it -railing against conformity & trends.
Watching people experience Metallica for the first time brings me so much joy!!🤗
It’s like “welcome to real 80’s rock/metal” haha

Same here 🤘🤘
Same. As a 50 year old who has been on this train since Ride the Lightning came out, Metallica is the soundtrack of my life.

I think it’s time for you guys to hear “Welcome Home”
Yes it's one of my favorites!
I think it's time
yes my personal favorite. Puppets is one of the greatest albums ever. No bad songs on it.
Sanitarium
Yeah this
"The government's always doing something sketchy." Right on Brad! ✊🏻
Sure, the government did bad things back in the50s, 60s,70s, & 90s. No one was ever punished for it, so they aren’t doing bad things anymore.
I really appreciate how Lex says their music tells the story. I've been a Metallica fan for damn near 30 years and it's awesome to see someone react to their music the way she does.
The rythms in this song is insane. 🥵
Everybody praises James' pick hand on the first 4 albums.. As they should!! But Kirk.. To have to keep up live 🤘🤘🤘🤘 kudos!!
Brad looking like "I'm still tryna figure this metal thing out." Lex looking like "I have found my new home!" Keep up the great work, loving the videos.
Oh come on if Brad took Lex to some Thrash concert she would be hit on by some skinhead, and clock a guy if they cheap shotted her BF in the pit. Brad is the MFer on the earth.
Brad never figures it out
This is hands down one of my favorite Metallica songs ever.
"Fuck it all and fuckin no regrets" may be the best line in any Metallica song. So violent. Lol
Violent but poetic
Metallica - Orion
- The Call of Ktulu
- Battery
- Ride the Lightning 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Four Horsemen. Motorbreath. Trapped Under Ice. Dyer’s Eve.
100% on all 4 songs. I think Brad will find something to enjoy in the first two especially. Lex will love them all, especially the last two. I'd like to add Leper Messiah (lyrics) to that, and I think they'd dig Master of Puppets live in Seattle as well.
Whiplash, Creeping Death, Seek and Destroy
Orion would be an awesome reaction vid
To Live is to Die is a must
Not sure but I think Lex had an eargasm during that first solo..love your reactions
Obviously, she has bed head by the end. (smile)
You two are my favorite reactors. I love how Lex gets into the music and Brad gets a kick out of Lex getting into the music. I can tell you two are made for each other. Keep up the great content. 💘 y'all.
Agree
Lex is the definition of adorable when she’s listening to her rock music;}>
I know, it's funny. Really aggressive music and she's just bouncing with a big grin on her face lol
🤘🤘🤘🤘
This song was a challenge to the music industry and to other bands.
They put out Kill Em All, then Ride The Lightning... then this song, to close out their 3rd album, Master Of Puppets.
“We chew you up and spit you out.” They we’re on the scene. Only a few short years into metal, and they basically had pioneered Thrash Metal. Is it selling out, when you INVENTED the genre? Some people would say they sold out later, after Cliff Burton died, after this album tour and the next album ( ...And Justice For All ) but that was not when this song released. This song... at this time, they were the king of the mountain. They were there to kick ass and to take the fuck over. “Fuck it all and fuckin’ no regrets... Damage, Incorporated”
Metallica was here, and here to STAY. They were making a statement that they were the only band to hear, and they were taking no prisoners, holding no quarter. “METAL UP YER ASS 🤘”
They sold out when their music became hard rock instead of thrash metal. Once they became hard rock, all the collar wearing preppies were at the concerts too. That sir, is selling out.
@@Tateorsomething like I said, different time, different band.
@@Tateorsomething Not really. Plus, you have the wrong idea of what selling out actually is in regards to Metallica. Metallica was always a sellout... of every arena they have ever, or will ever, play in.
@@muscledoggs566 they started selling out arenas when the music changes. They lightened the music, then they became more popular and sold out concerts. Don't steal steal line from J Newstead and say it like it means anything.
@@Tateorsomething But that's the point. It does mean something. Not that it matters since I like every Metallica album, but they were selling out since the very first album. Jason even went on record in saying that every member of Metallica could have retired after the first album as well. It's sad that trolls like you always try so hard to justify hating on the current music of a band you used to like because they don't play the music that you think they should.
When being accused of being a sellout,
James Hetfield said that they were sellouts... they sold out every venue they played including Madison Square gardens and football stadiums... not to mention Moscow...
But Moscow was a free concert ... ;)
Greatest grossing ticket selling in history.. $$$$ 40 yrs of thrashing
Jason is the one who said that!
You mean Jason Newstead, he said that line in VH1s Behind the Music.
I mean, they are. It's not like it's controversial.
Lex's face at the guitar solo right after "Go!" = PRICELESS! :-D
9:19
Yep! Almost got me laughing. 😄😄😛
Favorite Metallica song of ALL TIME. Seeing Lex''s reaction is priceless. It's how I felt when I heard it back in the 80's.
Lex reminds me of an old girlfriend who reacted to this music the same way... she loved Metallica.
She was a keeper mate.
I wish I had an ex like Lex 🤣
sounds a bit deep, find yourself a new girl who loves metallica more. wishing happiness for u bro x
Hope you find your new rocker girl my guy.
My personal fucking favourite Metallica track of all time.. 🤘😫🤘The fact that this was released 35 years ago and can still move people speaks volumes for the legacy that Metallica has forged.
I've never seen the physical manifestation of "melt your face off" until I saw Lex's reaction at the beginning of the solo! Lex, your reactions make my day!
"There aren't corporations behind war"
Lockheed: Am I a joke to you?
ITT industries: Am I a joke to you?
Ratheon: Am I a joke to you?
How brad doesn't laugh more in these reactions when lex is going nuts to the music is amazing to me. Lex has me rolling at her reactions. You two keep up the great work, really enjoying your channel.
Metallica kicks ass !!
Man I love watching her rock out too Metallica!!Always the highlight of my day!! She makes a bad day at work, not so bad lol
“Creeping Death” by Metallica is written in the perspective of the death that God sent into Egypt during the Pass-Over biblical event. Exodus 12.
I played guitar for 25 years . I don’t care what people say about Kirk . He brings it , that solo gives me chills
The pure, sheer, *joy* from Lex throughout these reactions to top quality metal... it's contagious.
Just goes to show that metal, for all it's vicious imagery and exaggerated rage, is unexpectedly positive. It's a cathartic rallying cry.
That amazing intro is Cliff Burton on the bass guitar.
When the solo started, I think Lex had an eargasm!
Ya'll need to check out the "...And Justice for All" album. I haven't seen a lot of people review the songs off this album, besides "One", and it is a great album. Try the title track, Blackened, Harvester of Sorrow, or Shortest Straw. I went to this concert back in the day and it was awesome. Literally you could feel the music hit your body, it was crazy. Was hard of hearing for a little while afterwards LOL
Easily my favorite album of theirs.
Agree. It's my favorite album by them.
Justice was my first Metallica album I ever bought and is still my favorite
How did you not mention eye of the beholder or and justice for all. Best two songs on the entire album.
@@decemberflower3990 Well, I did say "the title track"... =) But yeah, Eye of the Beholder is a great one too
If the Navy S.E.A.Ls ever needed a theme song....this would be it.
Great vid, you guys!
Ironically, right?
“Dyers Eve” off ….And Justice for All. If you think Damage Inc is hard wait to you hear this one. And by the way Brad, stay of Lex’s way when she’s rocking.
DYERS EVE!!! Next Metallica song
😂😂😂
@Red-Rocker I agree that Dyers Eve is heavy as hell but I still love Damage Inc. my man. I'm just saying that bass part by Cliff in the middle of this song is bliss for metal heads.
Dyers Eve is possibly Metallica's heaviest song imo.
Yeah, great choice, and Fight Fire with Fire is another great thrash song.
@@ktgo4424 I agree and since Ride The Lightning is my fav album let's include "I'm Trapped Under Ice". Fight Fire with Fire & Trapped Under Ice, two underrated Metallica songs.
I was going to suggest Trapped Under Ice. I'm glad other people have but yeah, Dyers is heavier and faster. Good call :)
I love watching Lex react. Her facial expressions are priceless. She does light up like a kid at Christmas about to open a present. I love these 2
I grew up listening to Metallica and the interpretation was a new perspective for me and I love it
Try *Sepultura* , their songs _"Dead Embryonic Cells"_ , _"Territory"_ , _"Desperate Cry"_ , _"Roots Bloody Roots"_ & _"Arise"_ to start with, these ones pretty much have a similar feel to Damage Inc amongst other Metallica songs but with a Brazillian groove feel, vocals are a _little_ rough (lol) so be prepared for Max's growling voice but his brother Igor's drumming is brilliant af.
Sepultura is good. Metallica sepultura and pantera.
@@kuplung22 Agreed. Love Pantera, they've already done Cemetery Gates & Domination live, hopefully they'll get to _"Mouth for War"_ , _"Cowboys from Hell"_ & _"Walk"_ soon :).
They did on a live stream, it was pretty cool.
Might be too much for baby ears Brad. 😂😂
Desperate Cry's riffs makes your chest hair grow chest hair.
Love u two and your reactions..made my day worked 12 hours today saw this very cool...from a old school 56 yr old metalhead Metallica will suprise ....you two delve deep very relevant stuff...cheers from kansas city...

you guys make me smile, habitually. You guys are therapy. Thank you
Aww ❤️ that’s wild! Thanks for showin love Joseph 🙏🏽
Watching Lex discover her inner rocker girl is one of the cutest things I've seen. Love your reactions guys.
This is my first time watching your channel. But I was grinning from ear to ear seeing her enjoy metal this much. Makes me realize how much i’ve forgotten how I felt when I discovered them 30 years ago.
Takes me back to my teenage years in the 80s, everyone else was listening to Poison and Bon Jovi, me and my buddy were listening to this. Me and my buddy went and bought this cassette when it came out and sat in the car and listened to the whole thing, neither one of us said a word through the whole album, never heard anything even close to it back then and still nothing touches 80s Metallica when it comes to heavy metal.
Lex, I really like your take on the music at the start taking us into a battle. Metallica fan for 30 years, and hadn't realized this. You are spot on. Thank you.
R.I.P Cliff Burton. He was the fiber of Metallica for the heaviness. So talented, and this album was the end of the first phase of Metallica. Everything changed after his passing (some great, and some not so great). You can see the difference in the music and writing after this album. You can feel some of Cliffs influence on And Justice For All album with that hard edge, but then it drops off for me. Like all the greats (Randy Rhoads, Stevie Ray, Dime, Jimi), if Cliff lived what would have been? Would have been fucking awesome for sure, but I will be grateful for what he gave us until his passing. Stoked to see you guys getting into all of the music. Now you know while metal heads love all kinds of music, we will be metal for life🤘🏼
You're ready to try SLAYER.
Maybe start with: Dead Skin Mask, Bloodline, Seasons in the Abyss, Disciple, War Ensemble..
Dude, are they really? He’s gonna disect the shit, freak the fuck out, and she’s just gonna feel the shit, bounce, you’re gonna cause a breakup. Hahahahaha..your fault...lol
I'd start with Angel of Death, people usually are pretty hooked after that 3.5 minute history lesson on the holocaust
I love Metallica, have seen them in concert 4 times back in the day and wore out multiple cassettes of Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning, MOP, and AJFA, but could never stand Slayer and most other metal acts to be honest. Metallica is unlike any other metal band. I was a skateboarder into punk and hardcore and Metallica was the first metal act that appealed to me. Pantera was another metal band that came along and appealed to my punk rock sensibilities. I’m still not a big metal fan, but can appreciate the musicality and talent that goes into it. Since I was a kid, metal went batshit crazy and branched off into about a hundred different genres. Some are just mind bogglingly weird and leave me wondering how the hell there is even a fan base large enough for some of it to exist. Like some stuff I heard that had ultra fast guitar and all of the vocals were done in whispers. If that’s what you like, great, enjoy it. Play it at work or the family reunion and go crazy whipping your hair around. Whatever floats your boat.
All of that being said, for whatever it’s worth, I vote no on doing any Slayer reactions.
Definately Angel of Death. It'll be the first video where Lex knocks Brad right off the fuckin' couch! ha
Agreed time for some real speed and utter chaos that is Slayer.
I remember stealing my little sisters talking doll when the batteries ran out of my Walkman. Funniest Shit Ever!!! Watch the doll singing Metallica. Whole family still laughs about it to this day😈🤘
Siendo Chileno, entiendo algo de Inglés, una anécdota para reír y valorar..
Lex I am a 45 yr old Metal head. I have listened to Heavy Metal my entire life....Watching you discover Heavy Metal with that smile and giddyness makes my heart happy. Heavy Metal is music to let that inner aggression out. Its a way to get all the bad stuff out without hurting anybody. You can see by your beaming smile that you truly enjoy it and its great watching you. That smile says it all. You look like a kid at christmas!! Keep going...keep exploring the genre there is so much that I know you will enjoy. I cant wait to see more. I suggest checking out some Iron Maiden...The Trooper or Fear of the Dark is a good starting point for Maiden. I know you will like it because Maiden has great story telling lyrics. You should be able to find Lyric videos for both songs so yall know what is being said.
Many years ago Anthrax and Public Enemy teamed up and opened the door for the 2 most unlikely groups, metal and hip hop to embrace and cross culture and see how alike we are
It is my pleasure watching you two embrace metal as we embraced hip hop. 2 types of music with heavy, poignant vibes with something to say. You both rock
Spit out the bone is a good one by them
As a drummer it’s one of my favourite to listen to.
I think Brad would like it since it seems he's a fan of newer Metallica than the older stuff.
I love their out of context perspective....Like musical archeologists, what were these ancient people thinking in their time...lol. love it
My all-time favorite band and seeing yous react like this warms my metal heart. Love your channel 🤘. Don’t let no one tell you to tone it down Lex. Keep er moving! 🤘🤘👍🏻
Thanks guys! Lex, it does my heart good to see you.rock out! Peace
Lex, I remember feeling the same way when I heard this 35yrs ago.

I love it. “Tell me something i don’t know, take somewhere I haven’t gone before, bring me something I don’t have” right before kirk’s solo. The timing couldn’t have been better!
If you want faster Slayer “Raining Blood” have a great weekend
I would not call 89BPM fast. Maybe for country, but not thrash. Lol
No!! _Postmortem/Raining Blood!!_ Both songs together!! Just fucking _once_ I'd like to see _one_ fucking reaction channel get this right! They don't _need_ to be heard together, but fucklesticks on cube roots, they are _so much better together!!_

No one is ever disappointed by Metallica, especially the old albums which we lovingly refer to as "mandatory Metallica"! There's always so much depth to explore musically, lyrically, and ideologically. They defined metal since the 80s.
Well now youtube is filling up with Metallica reactions. I'll keep pushing for different bands and different tunes. I'd love to see how you react to something else, and hopefully bring you something new. For lyric videos, FEAR FACTORY has a number of them that are visually stunning and fun to watch. They are one of the innovators of industrial metal for decades. Check out PROTOMECH -> ruclips.net/video/midnSfMs5Y8/видео.html.
You guys always put a smile on my face watching you react to metal music. I just love Lex's energy, and love seeing how Brad is enjoying it more and more as you react to more songs. Keep up the great work!
I'll tell you this...old school thrash really knew how to close out an album....this song, "Polaris..." by Megadeth, "Raining Blood" and "Seasons in the Abyss" by Slayer...as often as the whole being golden, you were always guaranteed that the opening and closing tracks were solid! Btdubs....Lex is sooooooo cool! I mean her energy and enthusiasm for this brand of music is totally refreshing!
Anyone else think that Lex should really hear “Orion” by Metallica?
Lol
Finally happened lol
This song is not so much about "war" in the traditional sense. It's about the fuel, energy, and kick-ass vibe of metal music - this was "thrash metal" for its time and was essentially their statement that they could still do it better than anyone else. They pretty much started that trend and this was just showing the critics and fans, they still did better. So it was kinda cultural war to illustrate their dominance in the genre.
Then their bassist died while on tour. And their sound changed a little. Their next album "...And Justice For All" (which hosts the song ONE that you did a reaction to) took on a more technical appeal, long songs with lots of transitions and change-ups, and very complicated compositions and meticulous riffs packed into one song. IMO the greatest heavy metal album ever recorded from a composition standpoint as the songs were all very technically skillful.
This is one of my favorite Metallica songs and I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED watching lex at all the parts I knew she’d freak out on! Lol you guys make such a good team.. Brad pays much more attention to the lyrics and meaning! Lex gives us the emotional connection to the vibe of the music and grooves! I love how Brad keeps a little sideways eye on her when he feels her start to get into it.. I can see he thinks it’s fun to see her get into just as much as we do lol keep it up guys!! Metallica has SOO MANY GEMS!
I love the way you two think about the words, give us your thoughts and just enjoy kick ass metal. Keep up the good work.
To answer your question if it can get any faster, the fastest thing Metallica probably did was Battery Live at Seattle 1989. They were on something that night. They played battery faster than the studio version. Insane energy and power. Here the link if you wanna see it ruclips.net/video/Y5hFyPNSEN8/видео.html
and to top it off, it was the finishing song of the concert...

The vocals are fast! The riffs are fast! Imagine performing both at the same time! James Hetfield does not get the credit he deserves.
Absolutely. He definitely doesn't get the credit he deserves with his guitar playing abilities as well.
What are y'all talking about? James gets most of the credit and everyone who knows James knows how skilled he is.
The way her eyes rolled back when that solo hit. She went to a whole other plane of existence.
You've got all of us old metal heads checking for all of these old school reactions. Being a Metal guy in the early/mid 80's was, for some of us, who we were. The clothes, the attitude, the willingness to defend what we loved to the last. Maybe I'm just being dramatic though. But that's how I remember it.
Metallica Battery
Yes, but live Seattle 89, it will SEND Lex insane!!!! In the BEST way possible 😁😁😁😁😁
Hell YeaH!! Let's go headbanging :D
Lex has really amazing intuition when it comes to interpreting metal songs
You guys are like my favourite people on YT.. so genuine :)
This is real Metallica, back then the mainstream didn't know who the hell they were.
If you want to react to a more recent Metallica song, try Broken, Beat and Scarred or Spit Out the Bone.
Nice choices! And the 1st is underrated.
Broken, Beat & Scarred is my favorite song .. great choice

One of THE best Metallica songs hands down! Glad to see someone review this song and give it some love.
Lex is a breath of fresh air...true joy and also knowing old Brad hating every RIFF of metal music...LEX YOU KEEP ROCKIN'...
Metallica was one of the rare bands who reinvented themselves with every album, yet still no matter what route they chose to take, you knew it was Metallica. (Except St.Anger....that was garbage lol...) Going back and seeing their growth over time is unparalleled.
St. Anger saved METALLICA, they had to strip down & find themselves again, they went back to the garage, not saying it was a great or even good album but it serves it purpose & they're still here because of St. Anger
@@Krow-go3ps oh, Amen to that. But I warn anyone digging into Metallica for the first time, you really have to hear the rest of their catalog to understand how it fits. Without knowing how they got there, that album can hit your eardrums like a loaded diaper. It can be appreciated, but it's not a "viber".
@@dennishollibaugh8247 exactly! 🤘

The speed of the guitars and the rhythm of the drums come from hardcore punk. The rest of heavy metal (oldschool). This crossover is called Thrash. All extreme metal genres arose from this. (Ok, Black Metal is also part of it ...)
Besides, Kirk's solo is one of the best that metal has ever seen.

Oh Lex, you are pretty ready to have a headbang and free the passion that this kind of music is generated within yourself... again, free yourself, we can tell that you really fell this music! congrats you are now one of us
This is one of their absolute best songs. The true definition of thrash.
That song is over 30 years old, and it's still a BANGER!!! Like I heard it the first time all over again.
So glad that I was born in 1975 and was 11 years old when I was turned onto Metallica, Venom, Mercyful Fate etc.!!! It changed my life forever.
