    speaking of iodine, i was told iodized salt is not a good source for various reasons, one being that it outgases from the salt, when open or exposed to air.....

      Complement Plus multi is the all-in-one option containing just the few essentials needed to support the vegan diet!

      B12 supplement yes. Vitamin D only if you don't get a lot of sun. Omega you can get it from algae oil, which is not really a supplement. Iodine, you can get it from iodised salt. K2 if you eat natto, saurkraut, miso, kimchi, or tempeh every day then you're good. With the other nutrients he mentioned, just eat like a cup of mixed nuts and seeds a day and legumes like beans, lentils, etc...I have one can a day. Have porridge for breakfast as well.

      @@VeganofSuburbia I mentioned this in another comment, but will do so here too:) Studies of ALA metabolism in healthy young men indicated that approximately 8% of dietary ALA was converted to EPA and 0%-4% was converted to docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) (6). In healthy young women, approximately 21% of dietary ALA was converted to EPA and 9% was converted to DHA. More on that here lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/other-nutrients/essential-fatty-acids ...
      We recommend all vegans at least take B12, vegan D3, and EPA/DHA from micro algae. The other 5 minerals within our multi ARE found in plants, but are also the few that can most commonly be on the lower end if those eating a plant-based diet aren't eating enough diversity. They also help cover the bases in the present day soil biodiversity loss we are dealing with. Just a few nutrients of importance to ensure vegans are thriving for the long term!

      @@nomeatathlete If being vegan is good for us and what we are naturally supposed to be, how come we will die if we do not take PILLS that aren't even natural?

      From my personal experience of 60 years on this planet...sure, take supplements if you want and some of the above will have benefits to thrive, especially if your an athlete. But what will 'out-thrive' any of these supplements is what you avoid. If you avoid nearly all processed foods and animal foods.....you will add years and health benefits to your life that no supplement will ever come close to matching. This is from someone who has been through 53 years on the processed food merry go round and who ended up stage 3 obese and had to have open heart bypass surgery. I'm vegan now, but it was the elimination of processed foods that I'm now thriving from. You can be a processed junk food Vegan too.
      As for supplements, I keep it simple. I take a D3 and a B12 and the odd omega 3. I have flaxseeds and walnuts every other day and it's not just the omega 3 that they are good for..... Dr. Furhman states that studies show that people live longer without a cardiovascular event than those not eating them and it's not all down to omega 3. You don't have to pump all that stuff into you being a vegan. Most of the top plant based doctors just take a B12 and D3.

    Should K2 be ingested with a calcium or D3 supplement?

    • @nomeatathlete
      @nomeatathlete  2 года назад

      It's best with Vitamin D3 (which is in the Complement Essential multi). They work together to help calcium use and absorption.

    Not meant to be an attack - but why not supplement with small amounts of meat to get these vital nutrients?

    • @dragonskylords9032

      Because some people don't consider rotting carcasses of sentient beings to be "food." We get everything we need from 100% plant-based sources without need for synthetic drugs.

    • @RyanSpicer
      @RyanSpicer Год назад

      @@dragonskylords9032 if you eat 100% plant based without supplements for 10 years, you die. You do not get all vital nutrients from plants, that is just a lie.
      You can be healthy as a vegan for sure, but you must supplement
      I was Vegetarian+Vegan for 6 years, I do appreciate and understand the perspective. I also spent many years practicing and learning about buddhism in my early-mid 20's which influenced my restrain from eating meat during that period. I just happen to be questioning it for the last couple years, and am starting to think it is more an Ideaology based on faith than anything scientific

      It’s because the vegan diet is restrictive. And if the person is full vegan it’s like a religion or strong philosophical belief to them.

      @@joantendler6518 everything we do in unnatural. You typed that on a computer lol the “it’s better if it’s natural” is a logical fallacy. Watch dominion on RUclips to understand why vegans don’t want to be nonvegan again. Just bc something is natural doesn’t mean it’s better nor needed. Plus artificially inseminating animals and killing them as babies and pumping them full of hormones and all the other fucked up things we do to them is not natural either
