Thank you for posting this great review. I have built a couple of UGears kits (the timer and the tractor) and they are awesome. This safe looks more complex than both of those put together!
Did you grease all moving parts well enough? I have used quite a lot of candle on my safe (maybe more than necessary), and it seems that the lock on my safe runs a bit smoother. Other than that, good job :) And by the way, did you notice the quite obvious mistake in the manual on page 18? Hard to miss actually..
I made the exact same mistake when I made my model (placing the front face the wrong way round). I have found a fix to the stiff mechanism and that is to remove the rubber band. it stops the locking mechanism rubbing on the discs and also makes the safe slightly more secure as it does not automatically unlock as soon as the 3rd correct number is inserted
You payed 55 bucks? I just payed AUD$110! with the conversion, that's only AUD$71! Man, we get ripped off big time here in Australia. Great video though, very informative. :-)
Unless you do it as the beginning of putting the locking assembly together, you can't do that. As long as you don't put the tabs opposite each other on the separate gears, you can do it. But, once you've put the lever stem into the door, you are done. That piece as "teeth" that feed into washers that attach into the tabs that catch the gears. If you can get them out without breaking off the teeth or be willing to glue the washers back into that socket, you are committed.
I suppose you could, nothing is glued or permanent, but there's a ton of parts and they fit really tight and I think you would risk breaking parts if you tried to take it apart.
I also got the safe and I disagree with your opinion of the product. It is really awkward to fit the pieces together and the instructions don’t mention the use of a hammer but, the pieces won’t fit otherwise. I feel like they could have made it easier to assemble if they changed the order of the instructions. Also, the fact several people put the door on backwards shows that the instructions are t as clear as they seem
mine is quite warped since the first 3 stepps were astoundingly difficult to assemble... Maybe I get a second one and try to get a smooth version 2. try
No, not even close. The quality here is way better than those cheap kits, and this is mechanical parts that actually work. Nothing like wooden dinos, not at all. Totally different game.
No. If you want to watch scripted dishonest crap this isn't the channel. I review things I buy with my own money and I tell you what I think honestly. This isn't a professional review site. You can trust what I say.
jasmine2501 of course you should be honest, I'm saying that as a viewer it's a better experience when the reviewer has planned out that he said. less umms and pauses while fumbling to put it together takes us out of it. I appreciate the ability to watch a review on a product I want to buy. if you are making content and putting it out there be prepared for some constructive criticism.
jasmine2501 if that's how you choose to take it, go for it.

Oh boy, if you thought that was an insulting comment, you're in for a long ride... Seriously though, there was nothing insulting with what he said. I don't understand why you take it so wrong.

After two tests mine ran smooth as butter that was mixed with sand.

Yes I used a lot of wax, it's just the tension of the rubber.

Was going to buy for Christmas gift but I think they would hate me after opening. Looks fun though.
Just got it for christmas and actually felt honoured that people think I could manage it :') (just started building)
how do you set your own code for the lock?

can you, like lego, take it apart and store it and put it together again?

no. there are a lot of small pieces that are wedge like so they would probabely break

without hammer no chance, I think I will get a 2. version and sand the parts before assembly etc...
wonder if you could use grease to make the pieces run smoother
K - RAD candle wax is preferred

Sometimes you will need to file or sand the edges a little bit.
Did I miss how long it took you to complete?
7 hours
its always stiff at the first few times after that, its very, very smooth, as if its not even wood anymore
I'd never get through it without breaking out my pocket knife and whittling, and thus fucking it up and getting pissed, then stomping $57 away.
I need help!! How do I set the code 158? Please
Can you tell me which software can design be ugears. i want learning it
Any CAD program can design this kind of thing, but Fusion 360 is popular for mechanical models for 3D printing and plywood or acrylic.
I have one is a pretty dope toy
I built the tram.
Fiddly, frustrating. Very easy to break parts.
Didn't enjoy it.
So basically it's just a more intricate Dollar Store wood model for 56x more money -_- I'll stick to my wooden dinosaurs

I put that same plate on backwards!!
If this is made out of wood couldn't someone just take a sledge hammer to it and break in? It's light enough to run away with not very safe
Well yeah, that's not the point. It's a fun kit to build, it's not supposed to be security.
Ooohh ok, I just figured like a safe.....well is safe. The title should read, wooden box with dial lock or something
lol kind of contradicting what a "safe" is
Well it's more of a wooden model of a safe. All the Ugears products are wooden models of something.
It is not to be secure.
if you are reviewing something please write up a script before you start filming.

I've been on RUclips a long time. I'm aware that making insulting comments is a thing people like to do.

what a horribly put together review!!!
Thomas Lee I’d like to see you try, then I’d be impressed
