Glad you're enjoying your time here! I've flown at high altitude, in Colorado, and I believe the Mavic can handle it with out much trouble. These Drone are both annoying and great, my first Mavic was a complete dog with unusable video no matter what, the next has, so far, been just what I hoped for. Thanks for the great footage, really nice!
Great footage! If you're spending anymore time in Utah, you definitely need to visit Bridal Veil Falls (1 hour from Park City). I recently took my Mavic there and got some great shots.
Hey Ian that exact same thing happened to my Mavic! Literally out of nowhere 4 weeks ago took it out in Brighton for a flight and bam the Gimbal wouldn't settle, identical to what's happening with yours - Gimbal Overload/ Gimbal Obstructed. DJI had UPS collect it from me and was fixed and returned within 2 weeks. All for free and I don't have care refresh so you'll be absolutely fine. Nice video as always!
I'm so glad to stumble across your vids as part of my exploration as a brand new Mavic owner. First of all, I have to say that your choice of music is just beyond appropriate to the amazing footage you're creating. Truly artistic for every landscape, season, and even some transitions, be it intended or not lol...Wish I could hack into your playlist! If I may leave one suggestion, it would be the one thing that probably every drone operator struggles with when it comes to cinematic footage...believe that slowing down the gimble and drone controls is golden. Smooth, confident movements without followup adjustments to the frame, and no rotors in the movies =)
Thanks for the good words! I try to get the music right but it can be a little subjective sometimes. I do want to make a video on the changes ot the controls I make to smooth things out and editing tricks to end up with a smooth well-transitioned video. Some of my controls are slowed down by over 50%.... Like your taste in music; ABAB - the biggest band you've never heard of :) All my videos' music is from Epidemic Sound. If there's a video you want the track of, let me know and I'll dog out its link. Cheers, Ian
As soon as I made I comments I went to my channel to try to edit my public vids and playlists but I haven't achieved the changes I wanted to i time... just in case you are quick on the reply trigger lol. I'm raised on BBC Radio 1 broadcasts and DJ's who shaped the scene. But the Epic Cinematic Intense Heart-punding, Blood-boiling mixes you are using are just great!. I also hope to dazzle the world with some amazing videos, as now I live and work around NYC area where there is a lot to show, but the laws are strict and I have to fly under the radar at times!
Your videos are yours fella! Let people find them as they are :) We had a great trip to NYC in early December; I took my Mavic along but read it was pretty restrictive due to all the heliports. I flew briefly in Brooklyn Bridge Park after dark to get some nice nighttime views, but even then got stopped in 5 mins by a park ranger. Kicked myself for not getting a quick sunset video from the bottom of Battery Park. If you have rooftop access, I think that would make things a bit easier for you. Get some footage and get it up there :) Cheers, Ian
Another great video. I rode a Harley from Phoenix, AZ up over Bear Tooth Pass 7 years ago. Me and a bro tried to make it over the top in t-shirts. Cold wind blowing hard made staying upright a struggle. Freezing cold got the better of us. Thanks for the memory. The most awesome scenery.
Thanks Charlie. It really was one of the most amazing drives I've ever done. But a T-shirt up there would be way too cold on a bike.... I was cold just standing still! Cheers, Ian. Just posted another video on how to avoid crashing your drone... ruclips.net/video/yZxvyHfj8gU/видео.html
Actually this ended well as DJI repaired under warranty. Eventually sold the Pro to a happy subscriber so he got a great deal and I got most of the money back! Cheers, Ian

Thanks Paul ! Yes, the landscape is truly stunning and the 5 minutes on this video give no real clue to the amazing 5 hours we spent up there ..... Glad you enjoyed the vid as much as I did making it fella... Ian.
Thanks Shane. Obviously the take off point was 11,000 ft; but once I flew over the edge of the cliffs, it was pretty nerve-wracking as it would have been one of the highest flights I've ever done above ground level...
Hi Sean. The battery lasted fine for me. 50% after 15 mins flying. And you get such amazing views from up high.... Best of luck with your climb fella 👍
It defo wasn't my first choice of action. But I'd spent 3 days of the trip getting more and more annoyed and it was early on, so I made the right choice...... And now I have a spare 😂😂
This was my original Mavic Pro, but as it shows in the video, I took off on the mountain pass already at 11,000 ft :) This was the Bear Tooth Pass in Wyoming.
Yeah, it's amazing fella, but keep it rubber side down... We had to help a biker who'd come off right on the top; broken arm but otherwise okay. Had to stay with him until the highway patrol arrived... But a truly amazing road...
Spectacular footage! Looks like you enjoyed your holiday here on the this side of the pond. Need to check out the Washington and Oregon Coast sometime, my wife and I absolutely love the PNW and everything it has to offer. Cheers.
Thanks Jeff! We had an amazing trip! Utah and Wyoming really made their mark... But yes, need to head over to the West Coast sometime; never been north of Guerneville....! Cheers, Ian
Stephen Royall I actually use the standard camera settings. On 4k of course. Secret is to make sure there's not too much bright sky to mess up the exposure.... Cheers, Ian.
Ha. Well, just take it easy and fly out in the countryside first off. Good luck fella and hope you've picked up the odd tip from my videos... Cheers, Ian.
I wasn't sure if Park City was really part of the Rocky Mountains, so I googled it. I always thought it was nestled in the Wasatch Mountains. But I learned something about my home state. I hope you loved it in Park City! I love going to PCMR and riding down the alpine slide in the summer.
Great footage. Music a bit too intense for such calming video. I too have the Mavic and i use it for my channel, Arborist Blair Glenn, to get shots of trees and working on them. Not wrecked or lost mine Yet (touch wood). Had it a year now.
Thanks fella! Yeah. agree the music is a bit stern... this was edited on the fly whilst travelling around the US so it was kind of thrown together :) Arborist? Trees are a great way to prang your Mavic if you get too close to them... Happy flying fella! :) Ian
You really notice the difference in air when you have to climb or run, so I figured the Mavic would notice the thinner air and have ot work harder to stay up.. but that didn't seem to be the case....
Ian in London same here, I was feeling it...a lot, but the drone was pretty good, if not a lil less stable. Video footage looked fine, but I do remember it being a lil slower to climb and a bit more shaky however there was a bit of wind.
Mavic #3 - holy smokes Ian! That's bad news on #2 and the gimbal. You sure got some superb footage. Quick question to you - your gimbal movement seems super smooth - can you tell me what settings you chose for that... I haven't yet succeeded with mine in getting slow and smooth gimbal action. Your US trip seems pretty exciting... doubt you'll get down to PA but if you did let me know :)
Cheers Chris. Yes, bit of a shame but there we are. I have indeed made some gimbal setting changes to slow down and smooth out the movement. Mavic is packed away at moment so I'll make a note and list up the settings when I've got it out again. In Montreal now en route back to London tonight.... Pretty amazing trip ! Ian...
Hi Ian, saw your eclipse video. Great job! I had the same thing happen to my mavic... I was able to fix it by replacing the flat ribbon cable in the gimbal. It is pretty fiddly work, but it now works just fine. It still slams a bit, but always ends up horizontal ready to shoot. There are a couple videos on the process. There is a lady from a repair place that I watched and her's is excellent. Got the new cable off eBay. Let me know if I can help. Franny
Hi Franny; thanks for the advice. I do have DJI Care Refresh on this Mavic so I'll probably try through them first as it should be handled free, and it's not like I don't have a spare Mavic to use now :) Got to laugh....
That would be the best way to go. Even after replacing the cable, it still slams against the stops when it initializes and I can't seem to find a solution for that... We totally should have purchased the DJI care, but went the route of homeowners insurance instead - but it doesn't cover defects! Glad you are good! We were up in Wyoming for the Eclipse and put together a video (can't remember if I commented to your video). We were at Ft Laramie and couldn't fly there, but it was an awesome thing to witness! Cheers, f
You might try contacting DJI; had another guy say he had th same issue and they repaired for free as under a year old. But equally you may have voided th warranty by repairing yourself.....
Hi Ian I have yet to purchase a Mavic - just learning by watching all the excellent videos - what exactly is Care Refresh? - from whom did you buy your Mavic in the UK? Is it they who offers the Care Refresh?
Hi Ron. I ordered mine direct from th DJI.com store. For an extra £100 you get reduced and expedited repair, and/or up to 2 very cheap replacements in the event of severe damage, even if it's your fault. But crucially, you must be able to send in the damaged main body; hence why I couldn't claim on the one I lost over Dover...
Ian - love your videos. I'm a novice and want a Mavic pro and have some questions as I use android. Anyway I can help you understand the battery usage; at that altitude the air is so thin - blades only control with resistance (equal & opposite)
Hi Ron. Thanks foir the good words. The Mavic uses its own radio signal to talk to the remote control, whcih in turn is plugged directly into your Androidn phone via a very short micro USB cable. You do'nt actually need the phone attached to fly the Mavic, but then you're limitd to the display of the remote itself. As you can see, I've made a few comparison videos on my channel, including a comparison of features between the Phantom 3 Standard and the Mavic, which outlines many of the Mavic's features. Cheers, Ian
Yes; you get two micro USB cables (one is rotated 180' in case your phone takes the cable 'upside down'), and you also get a cable for your I-phone if that's your flavour of phone.... Cheers, Ian
Hi Steve. As I mentioned, I've been here all along :) I shot this particular video outside the National Parks, so I was fine.... Glad you have you back on board! :) Ian
Wow just fantastic footage, first time newbie taking mavic air to greece this year, do you know of any travel restrictions ? Should it be in hand or hold luggage please ? Thanks.
Alwyn Farmer Thanks again Alwyn. Most airlines require the batteries to be in hand luggage. The drone, without batteries can go in hand or hold luggage. Check with Emirates and Turkish airlines. They have far stricter rules. Each airline has a web page on drones or at least batteries. Cheers, Ian.
Your broken MAVIC unit#1 the problem lies in the ribbon cable on the gimble itself , once you replace that "easy fix, by the way," your ready to fly with a working camera
Thanks for that. In the end I sent the unit back yo DJI who replaced the Gimbal board under warranty. But I'll know for next time now it's out of warranty :) Cheers, Ian
Ian are you in the states hoping to get the solar eclipse, Be ready for madness, Its gonnna be an interesting day. I want have time to deploy my Mavic looking forward to all the videos drone pilots will get.
liquidktm Yes fella. We're already in East Wyoming and already in the centre of totality... Chose a relatively quiet place with great clear skies..... Happy viewing...
Well, things are very different at that altitude. Most people wouldn't be flying anywhere near that high and I wanted to see how the props and batteries handled such thin air... It was extreme for me when I flew out over the valley....👍🏻
Just the first part in Park City Utah. Monarch Pass *is* in Colorado Rockies. It's part of what motorcyclists call "The Million Dollar Highway". Also listed as one of the top "dangerous" roads in the US. Silly of course but every year a few dozen idiots decide that downhill is just too much fun and they haven't the skills to negotiate it properly.
Ah, so our geography wasn't too bad :) Yes, no doubt the north east exit from Yellowstone taking you to Beartooth is pretty much the most stunning road in the world in my books....
Hi Maciej. Actually this video was pretty much standard settings as it was straight out of the box. Since then I've reduced the gimbal sensitivity to make movement smoother, but in this video it's just me being gentle on the sticks :). Tripod mode slows the flight down as well and wouldn't have been suitable for this flight. Cheers, Ian.
3 UAV's....crazy! Did you buy 2 brand new UAV's in the states? Or does DJI have some sort of warranty that you get (temporary) a replacement UAV with some service plans? Expensive stuff anyway! The good thing is that at least you bring back truly amazing footage. I am still saving up for my own Mavic Pro but if I see what happened to your Mavic Pro I got a bit scared haha. Maybe I should start with a cheaper Phantom 3 or something.
I lost the one over Dover a few months ago and replaced that. That replacement is what developed the gimbal failure here in the USA so I had to buy a second Mavic as I still had so much of my trip left... Now baxj in UK and I'm getting the one with a broken gimbal repaired. So I'll have two mavics now........
Thanks for your reply! Still, it's quite a big expense when being abroad in another country I guess to shell out that amount of money (unless you did count that in of course in your working budget). I am still in doubt what I should do, start with a cheaper Phantom (but it's definitely not ideal, because of it's weight) or save up a bit more and do it right at once with a Mavic Pro which is also more expensive. Another option is to wait a bit more and get a used Mavic Pro for around 750 euros or something. I want to use it also for aerial photography (8 seconds exposure time while in the air is amazing at night).
Yeah, it was an unexpected and unbudgeted expense but you saw the eclipse video I took I'm guessing so to me it was worth it! P3S or Mavic? Well, i'ts down to portability and range. IMHO, the other differences are negligble but all outlined here....Cheers, Ian.
Hi Ian. Stunning footage. Have noticed a massive difference in quality in this from your Dover flight. I know it's another aircraft but what else have you done differently? Could it be down to lighting? Interested to hear your camera settings and and post work you do. Callum
Hi Callum. I'll admit this video was made whilst travelling around the US and time was tight. I actually used the streamed video files from within my phone for this, instead of the actual Mavic files. It was also edited after a few beers and around midnight, which might explain things a bit... *hangs his head in shame* :)
Ian in London Really, I think it's some of the best mavic footage I've seen. Pin sharp, colours perfect. Looks much better than the Dover footage, not that it was bad. I'd be happy if I could get anything like this from my mavic. Think the mavic camera seems to shine in good lighting like your video. Not much off that in the UK though. Little tip, you may be aware of by now though, if you get the gimbal issue again, starting with the mavic upside down or on side usually corrects it and allows you to fly. Buys you some time until you can get it fixed.
Bro,,, what type of editing are you using?? The picture is fantastic!!! I'm jimmy I'm 55 in New Jersey,,, thanks bro,, An now IAM a new member on your channel,, lol
Question for you Ian please, when travelling with your mavic what is your battery state for cabin storage fully charged, part or fully discharged ? Great footage by the way.
Hi Ian, enjoying your Mavic Air vid's keep them up :-). Question when flying in the US on holiday did you need to register your drone and if so under which category. I head out there in a fortnight myself and want to make sure I don't break any laws. There seems to be a model aircraft reg and a UAS reg. The first seems OK but you need to fly under auspices of a club in the US and the latter seems to infer you need to pass a test. Not sure how that all works?
Hi Kenneth; you only need to register the drone itself and print off the small label and stick it inside the battery compartment. You register for $5 under the 'UAS Flown under the Small UAS Rule (Part 107)' category. www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/registration/ You defo do'nt need to do anythign uder a club. Be aware most national parks prohibit controlling your drone. The thing to remember is they can't control the airspace above them, but they will prohibit you taking off, landing and controlling the remote. That's how I got my close up of Devil's Tower at the end of my '15 causes of crashes' video, by taking off from just outside the park :) Happy travels fella Ian
Had an amazing time; Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Colorado gave us plenty of fantastic sights! And the eclipse of course, which we captured from the air: ruclips.net/video/5qX4VyfaJGM/видео.html
@@droneuk Yes. I shoot in 4k but set the output file to 1080 at 30Mbs bitrate. Keeps the files manageable that way as a 5 min vid is around 2GB. I also have a 5TB drive to dump all the footage on for each video. Usually around 20 GB for a 5 min video. Mad 😀
Hi Ian, Nice Video, I've a Question : when flying at 11K feet did you fly off the edge or did you keep your new mavic hoovering above where you were standing. I real or saw somewhere that if the mavic or any drone is flown too high a return to home and the self landing instruction kicks in. Mick (New Drone Flyer)
HI Mick. Apologies for late reply; only just saw this comment. There is no auto RTH procedure that kicks in, unless it loses signal. In this vide, I was at the top of the mountains and flew out over the valley. Technically you need to maintain a 400 ft height above ground; this goes a little grey when you fly off a high cliff, but in all cases, the MAvic's control systems are calculated from the take-off point, which in my case here, was always under 400 ft, despite my extremely high starting point. Cheers, Ian
Hi fella. This video was edited at night on the road in a motel; I used the streamed video, not the SD video, which shows the clouds moving smoothly and perfectly. Cheers, Ian
Thanks for the video, Ian! Learnt many things from you :) Wonder if you faced any problem at the airport for having a drone in cabin bag?. I believe we suppose to carry in our cabin bag?
HI Jerin. No trouble at all. Most airlines have the same requirements for drones and Li-Po batteries in that they do require them in cabin baggage, not checked in hold-luggage. X-ray and security ignored them completely on all 4 of our international flights from London, Canada and USA. Cheers, Ian
But for Emirates its the opposite, batteries in cabin & due to safety reason drone in checked in bag. Not sure why they can't allow drone with batteries in cabin. Its absurd. www.emirates.com/english/help/faq/239030/what-is-the-policy-for-transporting-dangerous-goods
Yes, Emirates are the opposite to everyone else. And it's surprising they offer battery carriage in your checked baggage or your cabin baggage. Hardly any other airline allows LiPO batteries in checked luggage....
I just read that article Jerin provided. As I also will be flying to Thailand with Emirates soon. And of course want to bring my drone. I read that the batteries should be in the cabin luggage and the drone in the checked in luggage. Maybe they are thinking a person would like to take the drone out for a flight inside the airplane ;-) That the batteries need to be in the cabin luggage is to be found in the article of the link Jerin provided: Batteries spare/orloose, including lithium metal or lithium ion cells or batteries, for portable electronic devices must be carried in carry-on baggage only. Somewhere I also read that LiPO batteries should better NOT be transported in checked in luggage. As during the flight under pressure etc could damage the batteries. I wonder if that is right... As Emirates allows to keep a battery in the drone, which goes in the belly of the airplane...
Robica Media As you're flying Emirates, I really recommend you print off the specific rules, stick to them, and carry the print out with you.... I have friends that have had power banks confiscated on this airline.... Cheers, Ian.
That's right, so I wasn't able to fly anywhere in Yellowstone, but the Beartooth Pass is in the Gallatin NAtional Forest, outside of the park, and flying is permitted. Cheers, Ian
Hi fella... Yes, I tried calibrating and firmware update and reset and re update... Nothing worked.... It's just off for repair now so I don't know yet what the issue actually was.... Cheers, Ian.
jimmy Henrikson Hi fella. The first video in my playlist of useful stuff to know goes through my settings 👍👍 Useful stuff to know - Settings and Tutorials: ruclips.net/p/PLgFHmUkOJvStIG95w5nL6GDxB2C81G0vu Cheers, Ian
Good stuff! Inspiring me to take my mavic for a mountain flight. Enjoy your trip.
I took mine above 13K near the continental divide near White River, CO. Absolutely no problems.
Amazing footage, Ian. Big like!! Greetings from LuBi.

Love your videos, nice and smooth.
Fantastic footage! Thank you...
Great vid! I also like how you showed the malfunctioned Mavic at the beginning... your keeping it honest and real.
Thanks fella! I try and keep everything genuine on here!! Cheers, Ian.
The shot with the creeping cloud shadow was awesome!
Beautiful scenery
Thanks mr Ian
lol you like this mavic ;) keep buying lol I'm thinking getting phantom 4 pro for my videos
Ohhh! I love the scenery, you went very high!
Beautiful
Awesome video quality. Same goes for audio. Scenery is priceless:-) Enjoy your vacation in case you are still there Ian.
Thanks john. Yep, only posted this video today and we're here for another week.... Cheers, Ian

Noooooo... busted gimble... cracking flight Ian!!
Actually this ended well as DJI repaired under warranty. Eventually sold the Pro to a happy subscriber so he got a great deal and I got most of the money back! Cheers, Ian
Amazing flight, awesome scenery. Was there any sluggishness to the controls? Did it ascend slower?
Thanks Thomas. Actually I found no difference in handling at all. Battery life wasn't noticeably different either. Cheers, Ian

Looking forward to the next!
Well Andy, I'm pleased to say the next one will be the eclipse. I got it all today....... Hope to post in the next day.....
Awesome Video Ian!!
Stunning video. Tks.
Oh wow amazing views and shots mate ...cheers again Ian 👍✌️
Thanks Fella! :)
Ian in London your welcome well deserved , thanks to you 🙌👍
Incredible footage, bit scary flying at 11000ft
Thanks Shane. Obviously the take off point was 11,000 ft; but once I flew over the edge of the cliffs, it was pretty nerve-wracking as it would have been one of the highest flights I've ever done above ground level...
Nice. I’ve been flying mine in the Rockies at over 12,000. Plan to hike a 14er soon and bring it with me to fly at the top.
Hi Sean. The battery lasted fine for me. 50% after 15 mins flying. And you get such amazing views from up high.... Best of luck with your climb fella 👍
Pretty badass to just buy a new one on the spot when the old one doesn’t work 😂

Stunning footage
Which drone did you take up to shoot this? Absolutely crazy and beautiful scenery. Also well on getting to 11000 ft :)
This was my original Mavic Pro, but as it shows in the video, I took off on the mountain pass already at 11,000 ft :) This was the Bear Tooth Pass in Wyoming.
Ian in london comes to America.. Cool stuff, Epic video and Scenery. 12k up .. The Mac=vic did good in the rough Terrain. WOW
Mate, I'm having a great time travelling through the Mountain states! Cheers, Ian
Awesome I hope to get up there some day, The USA has some Beautiful places enjoy and Thanks for sharing your Adventures.
Beartooth Pass is awesome on a motorcycle. Have fun
Yeah, it's amazing fella, but keep it rubber side down... We had to help a biker who'd come off right on the top; broken arm but otherwise okay. Had to stay with him until the highway patrol arrived... But a truly amazing road...
Wow that was cool
Really nice shots mate
Cheers Drew! Great fun making this one! :)
Ian, I would open a Dji Mavic shop..!! ;-)) I guess technology does go wrong when you least expect it ! Great video and pictures...!
Yeah, I would be my biggest customer :)
Amazing footage 👍
Great footage, thanks.
Quality!
Took my Mavic Mini up Quandary Peak(14,250 ft) and it ran good. The wind was the biggest issue.
That's good going..
Crazy view mate. Just got one myself. Was wondering if it would get that high tbh
Well, it's limited to 500 metres or 1,600 ft above take off point, but flew without any issue at the thinner air of 11,000 feet here.... Have fun!
Cheers, Ian
Nicely done 😎
I loved so nice video good jobs
Thanks Hans! :)
Impressive!
You got a new one it's to good in it.
I would be the same mate.
Hi Ian, that awesome footage looked pretty sharp for a Mavic, what settings did you use?
Stephen Royall I actually use the standard camera settings. On 4k of course. Secret is to make sure there's not too much bright sky to mess up the exposure.... Cheers, Ian.
Not a bad thing having two for redundancy
Thanks for your videos. I have just bought a Mavic (2 days ago), but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I will avoid Dover and stay in Essex....lol.
It's a great city and area Adrian... Loved it.
I love the videos. it might that gimbel not locked during travel. I have seen a few vids that had warnings about that.
Yes; that's probably the reason... will sort when I get back... I have Care refresh so hopefully will be sorted soon...
Ian
The cameras having a epileptic fit
This is what, your third Mavic? Unless you were able to retrieve the one in Dover.
Fraid not Dan. Dover Mavic is most likely still lying under a bush....
So funny you put the link for „smoother Gimbal Settings“ in just at the moment you show the gimbal goin bananas...😂
Hey, you got to keep a sense of humour about all this stuff when it goes wrong :)
Schweeet.....very cool heres an extra👍
Cheers Lou! :)
:) Ian
Ian in London prang? Guess that means crash. I’m married to a Brit and that’s a new one on me. Cheers
arboristBlairGlenn Yep... Prang is a mild crash.... :).
I Just got done flying mine a lil over 13,000 feet, i was very scared at first, but it actually handled it very well.
Amazing footage! I am a beginner...what are all your settings...if if you don't mind:-) Thanks!
Somehow I completely missed this message. Have a watch of this video. It has all my settings. Cheers, Ian. ruclips.net/video/fRS0nXMaW9o/видео.html
Nice smooth video and flight, but I have to wonder why the cloud shadows were jerky? Any ideas? Just getting into droneography
Hi there.. No, is the simple answer... I noticed that and it's present on the original video files. Maybe the SD card got cold :) Cheers, Ian
Nice! i love flying as well
Ian - love your videos.
Cheers, Ian
Thanks Ian
BTW is that micro USB cable included with the Mavic Pro?
Yes; you get two micro USB cables (one is rotated 180' in case your phone takes the cable 'upside down'), and you also get a cable for your I-phone if that's your flavour of phone.... Cheers, Ian
A little click baitish with the 11,000, don't ya think?
10947 feet...at beartooth pass.....why do you say its clickbait???? ....he has actually flown above 11,000 feet😁
I knida hoped no one woudl actually think for a second I'd flown up to 11,000 ft from sea level. I'm defo not a click baity channel 👍🏻👍🏻 Cheers, Ian
@@IaninLondon , I was kinda pulling your chain. I'll delete it if possible. Tell me how.
@@JohnODonovan1 No need at all mate! I knew you were just having a laugh. :) Cheers, Ian 👍🏻
That was incredible brother that footage is fukin priceless 🤙🤙🤙good shit my man
Great footage thanks for sharing
Cheers Andy!
lost you for a while, then back you came with this brilliant footage. Surprised, thought there was a ban in national parks?
Hi Steve. As I mentioned, I've been here all along :) I shot this particular video outside the National Parks, so I was fine.... Glad you have you back on board! :) Ian
nice
Wow just fantastic footage, first time newbie taking mavic air to greece this year, do you know of any travel restrictions ? Should it be in hand or hold luggage please ? Thanks.
Alwyn Farmer Thanks again Alwyn. Most airlines require the batteries to be in hand luggage. The drone, without batteries can go in hand or hold luggage. Check with Emirates and Turkish airlines. They have far stricter rules. Each airline has a web page on drones or at least batteries. Cheers, Ian.
Great footage.. Can I ask what gimbal settings you use ?
Thanks! I set them out in this video:. ruclips.net/video/fRS0nXMaW9o/видео.html
Cheers
Ian
Beautiful Ian!!! Tell me what ya think of my footage (Cole Meyo) is the name of my channel as well as my name..lol
But I'll know for next time now it's out of warranty :) Cheers, Ian
nice drone photage...
Can somebody buy me that drone?
Ian are you in the states hoping to get the solar eclipse, Be ready for madness, Its gonnna be an interesting day. I want have time to deploy my Mavic looking forward to all the videos drone pilots will get.
liquidktm Yes fella. We're already in East Wyoming and already in the centre of totality... Chose a relatively quiet place with great clear skies..... Happy viewing...
liquidktm I would have loved to have been able to travel to the US to experience and fly my Mavic during the eclipse
Where all did you hit in the US? Make it through Yellowstone?
This vid was 2017. And yes! Loved it so much we were back for 4 weeks this year through WY, UT NV ID and CA. Loved it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You started out at over 10K so not really extreme right?
Well, things are very different at that altitude. Most people wouldn't be flying anywhere near that high and I wanted to see how the props and batteries handled such thin air... It was extreme for me when I flew out over the valley....👍🏻
Uinta mountains BTW - not the Rockies (Colorado)
Hi Jon, yeah, I did think about this... the Rockies do stretch all the way up to Canada but my geography was still a bit out that day I think :)
Great video Ian. May I ask what your gimbal and sensitivity settings are? Was that shot with the tripod mode?
Thanks Ian.
Hey Ian... What setting you use for your video? What color setting and saturation
Crikey this is your third Mavic!!!!
Yeah, but in fairness the second one would simply be repaired if I weren't on a trip, and it went wrong by itself.... :)
Im lovin' the goggles at the moment, you must buy a pair.
Welcome to Utah, 3 1/2 years late. :)
I've been back since.... Utterly love the state....👍🏻😍
3 UAV's....crazy!
+ the Standard. So yeah, 3 UAVs 🤣🤣
Ian in London
Really, I think it's some of the best mavic footage I've seen.
Ah, well Dover was late in the afternoon; almost evening. Beartooth was middle of day and way brighter..... :)
Bro,,, what type of editing are you using?? The picture is fantastic!!! I'm jimmy I'm 55 in New Jersey,,, thanks bro,, An now IAM a new member on your channel,, lol
Welcome aboard Jimmy 👍👍 I use Powerdirector 16 for my editing. Simple and intuitive..... Cheers again fella! Ian
Question for you Ian please, when travelling with your mavic what is your battery state for cabin storage fully charged, part or fully discharged ? Great footage by the way.
Alwyn Farmer Cheers Alwyn. I have them charged up , disconnected from equipment and in my hand luggage. Everywhere except Turkey is fine with that....
Ian in London thanks mate much appreciated.
You register for $5 under the 'UAS Flown under the Small UAS Rule (Part 107)' category.
www.faa.gov/uas/getting_started/registration/
You defo do'nt need to do anythign uder a club.
Be aware most national parks prohibit controlling your drone. The thing to remember is they can't control the airspace above them, but they will prohibit you taking off, landing and controlling the remote. That's how I got my close up of Devil's Tower at the end of my '15 causes of crashes' video, by taking off from just outside the park :)
Happy travels fella
Ian
Great video! How did you enjoy your tour of the states?
Had an amazing time; Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Colorado gave us plenty of fantastic sights! And the eclipse of course, which we captured from the air: ruclips.net/video/5qX4VyfaJGM/видео.html
WOW! just wow that landscape is epic. For the footage at the top what spec did you film in? or should i say upload?
I filmed in 4k, but I upload everything in 1080.
Cheers again Andy! 👍
cool, so do you set up the video as 1080p when editing? i film in 2.7k with the P3S and edit at that res but always thought bet no point
Mad 😀
A question for you Ian, what is you video software editing? its look awesome!
benedictus hoho PowerDirector 16 full paid version. Cheers for the good words!👍👍
Cheers, Ian
They STILL haven't fixed how the shadows of clouds judder. I hope this problem isn't also in the Mavic Air. It's really off-putting.
Hi fella. This video was edited at night on the road in a motel; I used the streamed video, not the SD video, which shows the clouds moving smoothly and perfectly. Cheers, Ian
But it's a known compression issue that I've seen in loads of Mavic videos
Watch as there is Eagle's within the area
Isn't it prohibited to fly in National parks?
That's right, so I wasn't able to fly anywhere in Yellowstone, but the Beartooth Pass is in the Gallatin NAtional Forest, outside of the park, and flying is permitted. Cheers, Ian
What if it is? Laws are to be obeyed by the foolish and used as guidance by the wise.
Independence Day happening at the end there!
Yeah... the clouds were pretty ominous :)
Did you try to recalibrate your gimbal on the faulty Mavic?
Hi Staf. Yes, I tried calibrating via the app and via DJI Assist too. Nothing worked. Reverted to factory settings and firmware... Nothing worked...
Mate silly thing. But your first drone did you calibrate your gimbal?? Have you found out what the problem was ..?
Hi fella... Yes, I tried calibrating and firmware update and reset and re update... Nothing worked.... It's just off for repair now so I don't know yet what the issue actually was.... Cheers, Ian.
Subbed
Cheers man! Welcome aboard :) Pretty fierce Triumph you got.... Calmed down to my GSR-600 after 15 years on the R6... :)
Was your gimble lock on when it broke?
No fella... I kept in in a padded case but maybe that wasn't enough...
Same. Mine just happened yesterday. I will be using the lock from now on. I had a very expensive padded case as well.
What do you have your bird set on??? Ya,, I'm new to all this,, i have the same drone,, thank you bro,,,
