Just connect key 1, you may not be able to use all the buttons though. Alternatively you can try connecting both key 1 and 2 to the same wire but I'm not sure if that will work
I have a 2005 Ford Focus. I find it odd that my car came with the component speaker spaces in the A-pillars, and an Aux connection in the glovebox, but did not come with steering wheel controls, even though it also has cruise control. Now I want this slick little setup to rectify that.
Thats perfect, i wonder if that work on DEH s510bt, don't have settings like yours, not sure if is possible to program it manually, but it has 3.5mm jack for wheel control...
@@Sawickipedia let say if i don't use the sticky adhesive at the back of the button, but instead i drilled a hole on my steering wheel and installed it flushed on the steering wheel, leaving only the button surface exposed to be pressed.By that logic, im definitely going to make the batteries replacement procedure much more difficult for myself, isn't?
Probably, the sticky adhesive is quite strong so there's really no need to screw them on. The steering wheel on the car I put them in is not a smooth surface and they haven't come off since I installed them 18 months ago
They won't install flush onto the steering wheel as you have the PCB and battery behind the buttons. You could recess them into the steering wheel, but thus would require a lot more work, and you need to watch out for airbags and anything else on the steering wheel
I have been all over the internet for over a week, scratching my head all along just to find some info on this. So lucky that i found your tutorial. I recently bought an identical remote from AliExpress and clueless as to how to hook it up to my sony xav 5000 which also recieves swc inputs through 3.5 mm jack. If my understanding is correct, we don't have a ground to connect to jack, only key1 and key2. In what order did you connect them to jack? There are 3 coloured wires when i spliced the jack.
You are correct with only having key 1 and key 2. You should only need to use the red and white wires coming from your jack. I don't remember which way around I had them but as I said in the video just twist the wires together to begin with. I may take a bit of trial and error to get it right, but it won't harm your stereo, it will either work or it won't. I got lucky first go
@@Sawickipedia thank you so much. Not until i stumbled upon your video, it struck to me that i could hack a 3.5mm jack to get the job done. Kudos to your smart improvisation.
Thanks for the video. I was intrigued because I bought a set of those T3 controls primarily for an Eonon Chinese radio that has the 2 wires (not installed yet) but tried them on a Pioneer just to see if they would work. I think I tried them on an AVH 2700 BT and I also have AVH X390 BS and AVH 2300NEX not tried yet. I dont think it controlled anything on the 2700 and none of these stereos have this SWC set up screen that I can find. The Eonon does have it so I expect it to work well there. Can you shed any light on the model Pioneer you are using and maybe step by step how you found that SWC set up screen? So far I have successfully installed an ASWC 1 in a 2007 Forester and in the process of installing an RFASWC which is what led me to your video. I wish Pioneer would just make a wired controller similar to the BMW Idrive or Mazda type that could be stuck somewhere on the center console. Some people would prefer that to SWC especially in countries with a lot of corners. Thanks.
The swc setup screen is under the general settings on my model. It is a pioneer avh-z5150bt. I think your best bet would be to check the manuals for the stereo's that you have to see if they mention anything about it, you should be able to find them online

On my headunit there is a steering wheel control option under general settings. I don't remember if it only appears after plugging the steering wheel controls in, but I do know that the headunit will have the option greyed out unless it is set to "source off"

I'm concerned about the adhesiveness of the supplied double sided sticky tape to mount the "Rubber" pockets to a somewhat rubber textured /soft steering wheel surface. Anyone else have any issues or do they hold up well? And especially in hot weather. Do they adhere or will they be something that requires replacing the double sided sticky every 6 months?

I have the same head unit and I have the same controls. My controls don’t match up to the right buttons, they need to be remapped. For instance, my volume up ends up opening the camera. I see you clicked “steering wheel controls.” That option is nowhere to be found on my unit. It’s not in my settings. My manual confirms my unit supports it and it obviously does because I wired it up the same way you did and they work, just not the correct functions. I’m so confused. I wired it up correct thanks to you, but I don’t have that steering wheel control option in my settings despite having the same head unit. I can’t remap my Buttons. How did you get that setting?
It should be under setting and then system (the spanner and screwdriver icon). Mine sits between location setting and restore settings. Note it will be greyed out if there is an active source playing, hit the middle button on the front of the unit and then 🚫 to turn off all sources. If this still doesn't work, try unplugging your swc from the back of the stereo and see if it reappears, if it does then plug your swc cable back in and try again. You may have to turn the accessories off and on between unplugging and plugging back in
Sawickipedia thank you I will try this. I have one last question. Did the “Steering Wheel Control” option exist on your unit before you installed controls? I’m not asking if it was there but greyed out, I’m asking if it even existed whether it was greyed our or not. Was that option on your head unit before you installed the controls? Or did it only appear after you installed them? Thank you!
