As always, great video! Nice tour of your office. It's funny you mention pulling the brake, while keeping the throttle matted. That's how I bracket raced my motorcycle. I'd pump the front brake a couple of times, if necessary. We need more drag strips, not less.
@leighmillicanhubbard Ever get to Ohio Valley Raceway in Louisville, Kentucky? A really nice little 1/8 mile track. Long tow from Texas, but we used to go for the IDBA race. You're a little closer.
Hey LH When I Bracket R at Bandimere 1985. I would brake the same way. When I started racing indoor kart (see my channel 1st vid ever made). I found that braking wail full throttle works amazing to keep RPM up. Now my daughter is Kart racing in Orlando and I showed her that trick! 😊 Love your car. Hope you get to race again soon.
Thats awesome.. I saw what the womping did to the inside of the motor.. I learned pretty quick I didnt want to do that very often.. makes for a lot of work sooner than later😁
@@leighmillicanhubbard I hear ya. Our home track was the old Moroso in West Palm. My family and I had a lot of history there. Now there is nothing for drag racers in South Florida. Very sad.

I'm wondering if any Pro teams will be in Spokane the weekend after Seattle, as Spokane is only 100 miles south of me.. It would be really great to meet Leigh & Clay!!
Alley we will be racing Sonoma the weekend after Seattle. I do know some teams used to stop and make some runs on Wednesday night at Spokane. I have no idea if that will happen this year.
Love your car. I was married to a guy who's dad raced Sprint cars at Knoxville Speedway (Knoxville, IA) then I graduated to racing street cars on a straight track in Corry, PA. Still love racing but since I'm retired it's slightly frowned upon in my family, but that doesn't mean I'm finished!! LOL
I hate that Memphis closed back when I went there it was an NHRA track. I used to help some friends on a Super Gas car and an other buddy that is still racing today with his Super Stock car he won the baby Gators this year in Super Stock. Those start boxes started showing up after I got out of the sport. I'M telling on myself a little. lol
Hey Leigh, did you ever get a perfect (triple zero) reaction time and/or a dead on dial with a zero? Love your videos! I now have to drive an hour and a half to watch/spectate at a good bracket race because while the closest track still exists, they don't do big money or points racing anymore. Support your local tracks!
Oh yeah, that's part of what makes drag racing so enjoyable, especially bracket racing. Those crazy multiple second handicaps are always a blast to watch. Luck plays as big a role as having a good tune up.
I live near commerce ga and thats where Atlanta dragway use to be , it broke my heart when it closed and not sure if i will ever see another national event in person , just don’t understand but i guess its about money , i believe i saw clay win there way back but would have to look it up to be sure
Just curious as a og racer just in another venue, you talked about winterizing your motor why is it I almost never see people pull the push rods, not only does it allow your valve springs to be closed and the rate to be close to static, then capping your vents your motor is sealed.
Of course I had to ask Cliff 😁 his reply ..I usually do back off all the rocker arms except this 540 has a very small roller cam and I just rotate the motor regularly

Man it’s heartbreaking.. that’s all I knew was going to that track.. I had to really dig deep to figure out what to do with myself in the racing world

BUT you can race a chevelle anywhere for the most part not so much a dragster
