What a joy it is to watch actual horns, bongos, drums, percussion instruments, upright bass and grand piano. In other words, musicians! The only thing that could make this better would be if these musicians are getting an income (money) from this session.
The world is a messed up place and especially of late but can you imagine how much worse it would be if we did not have music like this and bands like swing out sister to lose ourselves in.
Every new version is better than the last one. Love SOS. The blend of Andy's chops on that piano, the sweet voices from Corinne and Gina, ant the whole band... has everything I love from music scenery from the 60's and 70's era with any twist you could imagine. You can see in every rehearsal video, how passionate they are about the music.
wow! this is Evolution in Music...a song, already fantastic in the late 80's,is now an incredible example of Jazz/fusion and whatever it comes Music!!!!
That was TOTALLY AMAZING!!! Many thanks for posting! I love every version of this jam I've viewed. I wasn't sure what this rendition would be, but I had eargasms at the first note! I'm a "Beathead" of "Old School", "Real", "Hip Hop". From the first time I heard "Breakout" back in '87 I think?, I was hooked on SOS! Corinne is the 'Ish! I have all their albums in my vinyl collection.
This is a “larger” version of the arraignment sung at the Java Jazz festival in 2009. It’s well worth the listen to the other more stripped down version which really has a Brazilian feel to it.
Few bands put me in that zone that this band does. There’s several versions of this song that just engulf me. Make me hum, move, sigh. SOS has evolved unlike any other band I love. Their newer versions, dare I say it, have exceeded some classic originals. They’ve grown perfectly for me.
This is one of those rare and wonderful arrangements that force the listener to think of the song in a different way, from a different angle, in a different context. I don't know who wrote it, but it's lovely. And thanks to gersende giorgio for sharing it with us here.
Derr Johnston That is the opening riff to "Sun Goddess" by Ramsey Lewis AND E.W. &F. Also sounds like Chuck Mangione's "Land of Make Believe" at the two minute mark.
I have been buying records since the 1960s and I reckon Breakout ranks as one of the best singles of all time. This is a superb version for sure.
popularside percy Right along there with "Dancing in the Street" by Martha and the Vandellas. Would you not agree?

Words of gold yours !! I completely agree with you .

Like the song very much, its like feeling the 80's today.

Simply great!!! ❤
I wish I could have been at that performance
Amazing group still sounding fresh in 2020.... Niceeeeee
Sounds Upper class. All dignitaries start arriving. Best tune for opening party. Champagne starts flowing. Laughters and greetings exchanged.
WoW! Such a unique rendition of a classic!
Triste por não ter sido gravado por uma mesa de som profissional e feliz por ouvir esta versão que ficou melhor a versão original. Fantástico!
Nice reworking, giving it a different sound and feel! I love it! People who know music know that this is artistry at it's best!
pure magic! 🪄✨
Brilliant.
That was easily the best performance of Breakout, by far. OUTSTANDING !
I am in love with this arrangement! Absolutely warm to the soul. Makes me dance.

After the break, restart with Sun Goddess by Earth, Wind & Fire at 7:28 with a blend of Brazilian Rhyme.

Yes. Swing Out Sister is essentially a jazz duo nowadays

Kind of sounds like Earth, Wind & Fire - In the Stone
Derr Johnston That is the opening riff to "Sun Goddess" by Ramsey Lewis AND E.W. &F. Also sounds like Chuck Mangione's "Land of

Sun Goddess - Earth Wind and Fire

Too noisy. This timeless classic deserved better acoustics.
Terrible lighting and camera angles. The sound kinda sucks as well. Sorry, thumbs down. Not a very good job of capturing this.
You must be a fun guy.
Absolutely murdered it. Terrible.
You don't know music
This band wasn't good at all very off beat.
Precious version. I've always thought that this song had a brazilian jazz touch.
+Varinia Villarroel Villarroel!
Varinia Villarroel Me too... 😉🇧🇷
