    The tailgate rattle is an easy fix. I found a video online and did it myself. All you have to door is open the lower tail gate and pop off the plastic covers on the left and right side.
    Grab a marker and trace the bracket that the tailgate latches to.
    Loosen bolt and slide bracket toward the front of vehicle using the marker lines as a guide for the correct angle. Retighten. Replace covers. Enjoy no squeaks!

    ah... tailgate rattle... My 2018 had a painful amount of tailgate creaking... Just as you Edward , after rain or washing it was 3 times as worse. Also the cold was a big factor being in the PA area. Finally fixed it... I adjusted the "stoppers" which have a torx bolt in them (one on each side)... a rubber cap is on the top of them which create resistance. I actually have to lower them to have less resistance on the tailgate and that was it... has changed my life!

    I’m starting to save up now for an X5M. I currently have a 2011 335i w/ x-drive that I’ve owned for 7 years. That has been such a joy to drive but where I live we’ve been having some very rough winters and really need something with some more ground clearance. I love that this car is practical enough to be a daily driver but still as fun to drive a sports car.

    • @liquidscience899

      Sold my 2014 335i and got a 2016 X5m for the exact same reason. I live up in the prairies in Canada and our winters are brutal. The 335i was great, but clearance and practicality just wasn't there. The X5m is on another level. I couldn't believe that it handled better than my 335i, yet it does. Snow, mud, wet, dry, it doesn't, matter. The thing is a beast. I can't recommend enough you get one.

    Love the series. Love the car. I am in my first M, '18 X5M, and I am impressed. I had a 3rd gen Cayenne (base) and it did not inspire driving. The "park" issue is my least favorite and winter wheels really ruin the look, although I just picked up some spacers which may help. The thing that I can't figure is that she does not have adaptive cruise. WTF? I was however thrilled with the 40% markdown with 37K miles. Keep on driving!

    I just found this channel and became a fan. You have a nice way to keep the video interesting. I have owned 4 BMWs (first one 17 years ago and still it's on our family) so far and I always buy/used the official BMW oil, which I buy online. It's cheaper than other oils and then I don't have to worry about what I am putting in the car.

    I love my '18 X5M. Hands down my favorite car I have owned so far. Right now I have the winter wheels/tires on it and could not find 21" options that I liked. I would honestly go with all season performance on the 21s if I found some but have not seen them so far. I use about 1 quart of oil every two months. Was annoying but BMW has a bulletin out saying its normal. Should be able to close rear gate with key fob. I hope this car lasts a long time because I have no desire to replace it. I plan on adding a 911 to the garage in a couple of years but the X5M is my daily

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  2 года назад +1

      It doesn’t hurt the car in that sense but you are demanding more power from the engine. The turbos are spinning faster, the extra stress on the drivetrain. Typically you could accelerate the wear with the parts. I think the best way to making it last is not pushing it all day every day.

    • @eddiemcars

      You wouldn’t be disappointed with the M!
      Stock form you can easily run 12’s!
      With a tune on the X5/6M you are knocking on door of 11’s! You’ll have the space, the all wheel drive of the performance in bad weather but the handling will surprise you the most. Heavy SUV that can corner like a sports car? You won’t forget the ISF but you won’t miss it!

      @@s2kimport yes I still suggest it if you want to use the vehicles connected services for remote locking/unlocking, ventilation timer, and real time traffic updates(subscription required).
      If that doesn’t matter to you then a 2015 or 2016 would be fine. The 2016 like I have runs off the older 3G cell not the 4G for navigation updates so when AT&T turned off their towers last month, The older BMW’s as well as other makes loss some functionality. I believe with the ISF it was a subscription through XM radio for traffic updates so they are unaffected.

      Tires so far have been my biggest expense at $1400.

      I think regular maintenance it can treat you well. If modded, you can eat into the reliability some but the Tu really helps with the heat. There are a few things to be aware of such as oil pan gaskets, valve covers gaskets, rear air bags failing. Then the normal things with x5 in general that’s not m specific such as the tailgate rattle and potential transfer-case problems. Much the more maintained the less likely you should encounter a problem.

      That’s a tough one. Both are great cars. I cross shopped both as well. It’s easier to find a BMW with the items you want vs a Porsche where every car feels like unicorn.

    Hi- I am in the market for an x5m, but contemplating to wait the 2020 and above to come out of lease for a better pricepoint or pull the trigger on 2018-2019. I really like the infotainment and tech features on the 2020 and above x5m. Is there a way for you to cover the twch features( 360 camera etc…) that is available on ur X5m ? Would like to see what the differences are ?? Thanks

      I love the 2018 F85, but if my budget allowed, I wouldn’t hesitate to try to go for a F95.
      I can definitely cover options on a separate video for the M!

    They say that the suspension on the X5M are stiff, is it true?

    What’s considered a Stage 1 tune or a BM3 tune? Just purchased a 2023 X3M Comp?

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  Год назад +1

      Stage 1 is the power level offered by Bootmod3 and most other companies. Usually it just a flash and no other modifications needed. For me it was 20% Hp increase. To go to stage 2 and beyond I would need supporting modifications such as a high flow or catless downpipes.

      @@eddiemcars thanks for the knowledge, u have any input on wether this BM3 tune is better than Race chip GTS black?

    After driving it for a while I’d like the suspension to be softer in comfort. Other than that I’m great. You get the cold start stumbling issue?

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  2 года назад +1

      If I take off and drive before the 30 seconds cold start is over. It does this hesitation like like like I caught it in the middle of the transition.

    hey Edward, I love ur x5m. Was it hard to find this car? and is the two piece tailgate more useful than standard x6 tailgate?

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  2 года назад +1

      The X5 tailgate is useful load and useful to sit on it while tailgating
      It was about 3 months to find the right spec.

    12:02 lol I don’t quite have an x5 M, but my e60 528i does the same thing. I have just turned on the wipers manually

      @@eddiemcarsthat problem is even older than that. My old 03' 540i/6 did the same thing until eventually it stopped working all together 🤷🏾‍♂️

    true i love the X5, a lot of people that i know dont like the X5 because the say its too heavy and its true but at the same time you are getting a lot of it like the Xdrive and the versatility to put a lot of things in there, not to mention that the X5 50i or the M versions are super fast truly sleeper vehicles, i have a 50i 2016 and it feels so good to drive you can go to the beach or drive a lot with no problems. love your videos Edward and i hope we can see more comparisons between your x5 m and the 50i

      Own a 2017 X5 4.4 ....excellent driving machine. Culmination of German engineering.
      Combination of excellent performance, handling and comfort. Driving allot daytrips Burbank to Phoenix or back. The passing power...feels like a sports car, despite the size. Never any technical problems, only recommended maintenance...87000 miles and going...

    10/10 Coverage. I have a 2017 with the exact same spec and bought last August. Already put 20K miles on her and running strong. Hands down the best all around package and interior quality is hard to compete with. Great to see your similar timeline and looking forward to the video on rear break upgrade!
