Fantastic idea of putting both keepers on , then depressing the spring so they just get hooked in the groove all by themselves. Worked like a charm, and I thank you for the idea.

Put a piece of foam in your tool and the press down homie, then the keepers will be pushed into place, 100% of the time

    • @jdmodsgarage

@JDMods Garage I've got 2 valves with slightly unseated keepers
1 has just 1 a lottke unseated won't obvs allow shims . Other likeky font need much to sort . May need to do string trick feel a pillock as all seals replaced can't believe I failed to notice it. If I use compressed ait what do others use to seal ? And pressire needed ?

Take your gloves off , a bit of oil can’t hurt, tilt the head so it’s 90 deg plumb so the retainer can’t fall out side ways.

Springs are soft nowadays because valves have thin (around 6mm) stems ; materials are much better, things are not what they used to be...

  • @charlesbrewer6552

    Gee, I don't know.
I bought a valve spring compressor on ebay for about $20.00.
It is a breeze to remove the keepers and just as easy to put them back.
Why not just use the correct tool?

He was just showing what happens if you use the tool "as is" vs. The mod he used so the tool worked even better, great video man! Almost quit mechanics altogether because of installing keepers/ springs until I came across a similar video like this except in the other video he used a piece of foam in the socket instead of a dowel which both seem to work and I've tried 4 different spring compressor tools, they all fckn suck not to mention none of them worked for getting my exhaust valves out sooo had to make my uh "own way" lol mechanics at its finest I guess!
