    I did Striding Edge for the first time this year. As someone who is terrified of heights, I'd asked a local mountain guide friend (who lives in Glenridding) to guide me across for the first time. A few of us ventured across and we stumbled across a guy who was on one of the lower paths. One of my friends stopped to talk to him and handed him something. I was too focused on not having a panic attack, so wasn't fully paying attention. It wasn't until wed gone past him and I turned back to see what was going on and saw him in a squat position leaning against the ridge and he was....well....you know when you said you didn't soil yourself? This guy wasn't so lucky. We made it over Striding Edge and I was elated and stated for the entire weekend "I did Striding Edge AND I didn't sh*t myself".

    I remember going over striding edge with my dad as a kid. Dreadful weather, slippy as hell, terrifying experience. One of the best things I've ever done.

    You're becoming my favourite youtube channel. Easily the best footage and editing I've come across. Love the dramatic production style, nice ratio of talking/music. More like mini films than videos. You come across modest too, unlike some other youtubers with massive egos. Keep up the great work, hopefully bump into you on a fell next time you're in the Lakes

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  2 года назад

      Hi Andy, thanks for the comment! Glad you're enjoying the videos and very glad you said they are like mini films. That's been my aim, I love editing dramatic sequences together in different styles and music so I try to break up the video like that. I'm a full-time commercial filmmaker so taking that approach to RUclips, helps improve my commercial work.
      I just try and be me in my videos, I'm in my ancient 30s now so have given up trying to be cool a long time ago* 😂

    Very good Stephen.
    I was up there Thursday morning Stephen, but left Glenridding at 4:30 am to avoid the hoards. Result, saw 2 people before the summit and one of those had wild camped on Birkhouse Moor. You captured some great angles and perspective. Much more exciting than my simple video. One thing though, I find the frequent perspective switches a bit disorientating. Ultra wide, to zoom, to POV, to drone all in one flow. Just my perspective and I know you put at a LOT of effort into capturing all of those angles, just might be too much of a good thing sometimes.

    • @StephenJReid
      @StephenJReid  2 года назад

      Thanks for the comment Dave! I had originally planned on heading up at a similar time and avoiding people, but it was completely clouded over in the morning, hence the later start.
      I actually climbed up Birkhouse Moor the evening before to capture some additional landscape footage and only saw 2 people.
      Thanks for the feedback on the different kinds of footage, I guess I tend to edit for people who like me have very short attention spans and that can result in quite a lot of fast cuts.
