My sister was 12 and had never as much as kissed anyone when she was lured into an empty home and raped by five older teens. She was too scared to tell our parents fearing their wrath so she didn’t. For two weeks the boys bragged about it and spoke of it as if my sister had been willing. The entire community was gossiping about it and convicted my sister of being a slut in their minds. Parents, teachers and all the kids treated my sister so horribly. The mothers of all the girls on the pep squad voted my sister couldn’t join them on their trip to Disneyland due to her being of “bad character”. It was 1982. It destroyed my sister. She never recovered and ended up getting severely addicted to drugs. She’s homeless now and I don’t know where she is. It’s heartbreaking.

I know that this is like the bare minimum, but I really appreciate how often you refer to the 13 year old as a child. Nothing boils my blood more than when people refer to children as a “young women/ man” because it almost pins the blame of these abusers on these “provocative children” rather than their twisted desires.

I’ve never heard anyone refer to a 13 year old as a young woman or young man in cases such as these. The most common term used for anyone from 13-17 years of age is a “teen” or “teenager”.
However, the word “child” is also fitting…as anyone under the age of 18 is not considered a legal adult - and the opposite of an adult would be a child.
The word “child” also evokes much more emotion intuitively, which I think is a better fit for cases like these.

I'm sure she was not meant to be killed, she was not 'supposed' to be home. She had a red convertible that was conspicuously NOT in the driveway, I'm pretty sure if her car had been there, the killings wouldn't have happened that night, likely another night...but also, I could be wrong... but put it this way, those murders were only so notable...because Sharon was also killed...the Labianca house had far less media and police attention paid to it, by comparison and even though EVERYONE 'knew' the two killings were related...police did not even connect the two sets of murders for 4 months...right before they 'solved' them out of the blue. There is way more to that story...but it's my opinion she was not expected to be at the house, the murders would have garnered way less attention had she not been involved. The coverup was immediate due to a high profile pregnant starlet being involved...it is a bigger story than we have been fed to believe.

For the record I know that’s a broad statement and by no means are all LEOs/DAs/Judges/journalists scum. Not even close. It’s just a combo of people hiding disgusting behavior until it comes to light, and then a wall of silence and/or protection that takes place within the department/court/company. @simon petrikov an adult should never be in the position to be sexually taken advantage of by a child/minor. An adult should be in full control of a situation and never allow something like this to occur. Having been a teenager in the 70’s I can tell you that Polanski is representative of the prevailing attitude of adults at that time. It didn’t matter how young you were, if you had been through puberty you were considered by the most adults to be able to consent regardless of the law. You were fair game. Men weren’t shamed for being with teenage girls, teenage girls were shamed for still being virgins at 14. I’m so glad that the culture has changed. Thirteen year olds are not "young women." They are girls. Children. Calling her a young woman is purposeful. It obfuscates her age to imply agency and maturity that she does not have. We need to use clear language. A young woman is a female between 18 and 30. A teenage girl is 14 to 17. And a girl child is 0 to 13.

So it makes me really annoyed when people use this name "Lolita" to describe a little girl without realising what they are actually quoting, both teens, factual and fictional died before they were 18 and had their childhoods taken away from them by predatory men. When I was a young girl, I had many experiences of men trying to "take advantage". I was tall and was always mistaken for being much much older than I really was.
But this was not always the case, and is definitely not an excuse for predatory behavior.
I was not always successful at escaping them, but as a child I didn't have the skills or the understanding of what was really happening.
As a teenager, I remember one time a friend of a friend was wanting, or expecting to have sex with me at the end of the night. I said no, and he proceeded to try to "work out" why I didn't want to have sex with him, why I was saying no. He asked me if I was gay, if I had my period and each time I would again state that I just didn't want to have sex. Then, after a break in this conversation he asked triumphantly "Ooooooh, do you have an STD/STI?".
I will never forget that night, he could not believe that someone just didn't want to have sex - especially with him, so OBVIOUSLY there had to be another reason.
An STD ffs, yeah, that's what it was man, Jesus Christ.
No, I did not have an sti.
Years later I thought that that might have been a good thing to say in an uncomfortable situation with any older man trying to get what he wanted.
I think that almost every woman would have a story/s about being preyed upon, especially when they were younger. I don't know if things have changed since I was young, I hope so, but sadly I doubt it.

@secretsquirrel My best friend’s boyfriend cornered me in a bathroom when I was 14 to tell me how he only went out with her to get to me, as if I’d want his ugly ass and then *especially* after saying such a disrespectful thing about my friend. When I was nonplussed, he told me, “I could rape you right here and now,” and I just pushed my way past him, surprising him, I think. Turned out he had just SA’d her a week before while a group of us were in the next room, not knowing it was happening, and she didn’t say anything because she wanted to have a boyfriend. I was so angry when she told me later what he actually did to her, and I felt so helpless. In this case, the boy was only a year older, but that was far from the only time someone threatened to SA me or actually did it to one of my friends. I had two stalkers at that time in my life, one in his late 20’s and one in his 40’s. I guess I was supposed to feel complimented, but instead I was afraid and angry.

The Manson Family always needed money. Polanski liked having the freedom of fooling around with many young girls. He doesn't seem
the type that would want to be tied down to an adult woman who was pregnant with his child. Then he happens to be out of town when Sharon Tate was murdered by the Manson Family. Then he is fully unburdened. Why wasn't this explored? Why did so many turn a blind eye to everything? Hollyweird is a satanic swamp that needs to drop into the Pacific. What a piece of shit as well as all the people that supported him.

Even if you don't like the film, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Margo Robbie's portrayal of Sharon Tate was one of the best portrayals I've seen. The whole movie highlights how beautiful she was on the inside. How much love she had to share, how she just couldn't help but care for people. The alternate ending to the story of her death made me cry because we all wish that happened, and not the reality.
Sharon Tate was a kind, sweet soul and never deserved to be married to such a horrible person, or to come to an end the way she did.

It was never "the private lives of adults are protected under the constitution as our right to privacy" It was never "Such gossip is irrelevant to matters of state" it was "i did not have sex with that woman". When you drill into that, the scandal gets WORSE. Instead of defending privacy, something that would be removed less than a decade later by the Patriot Act, he lied. He threw an intern and a subordinate under the bus to protect himself. Yet he still get's praise for being such a "good" president, despite making the honor act that created the student loan crisis, terrible middle east policy that created the war on terror, gutting taxes and shrinking the government.

@Jack yes, that is possible in cases where the female is not in direct correlation to the crime that was committed. Like let’s say the a young mom leaves her child with her boyfriend of 9 months, and the baby is severely injured by the boyfriend. You will have people who jump right to blaming the mom and saying that she “should’ve known better” though she had NO indications he would do it. That would be a scenario where “female culpability” was used to diminish the man’s actions. Here we have the case of another ADULT, regardless of gender, who failed to protect a child. It could’ve easily been Jack Nicholson, and if it had been, we would be saying the same thing about him. I honestly don’t think a single person wouldn’t be in the comment section saying the exact same thing about the responsibility factor. Angelica saw a person who was known in social circles to be inappropriate with young girls, and saw him give a child alcohol. Then was just like “bye ✌️”. Seriously? Don’t waste your energy here. Go to the comments of the videos where women are ACTUALLY being criticized over men who have committed heinous crimes.
