If you have never tried it use your raisin bread and make a Turkey and cheese sandwich and griddle it. OMG. So good. I would have never thought to put that together but it was on a sandwich shop menu when I was travelling once and I ordered it. It was delicious.

You've got me thinking of different ways too use raisins. I make a quick& easy raisin pudding. I cook the raisins with a little brown sugar& just enough water too cover and cook til sugar dissolves. Then melt 1 stick of butter in oven in 13x9 cake pan. Mix in bowl 2 cup each flour,sugar,milk,and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Turn into 13x9 pan spoon raisin mix over . Bake at 350 degrees til knife comes out clean. About 35-45 minutes.
This looks delicious! I love raisins, do you think dried cherries would work if I soak them? Maybe I'll make your recipe then add the dried fruit when I make them into loafs. Of course I'll use the liquid from the fruit when mixing the bread. So glad you showed us how to keep the bread soft. Lovely recipe! Thank you! May I ask, what is the purpose of 'sweating' the bread? Does it soften the crust, or prevent wrinkling? I HAVE had my bread wrinkle a bit as it cools, and I wonder if the slower cooling would help to prevent that? Blessings and Happy Easter!

My latest calls for golden raisins not to be found so using black seedless, I guess. Where would you find candied fruit this time of year? I may just make your raisin bread, I bet it smelled so good! I love how you just go in the kitchen and whip up some raisin bread. No recipe, no measuring cups or spoons. Just wala and here's some raisin bread, and then it turned out beautiful. I am a little intimidated by baking bread for some reason. I love bread and I would love to be able to just walk into the kitchen and come out with some kind of bread. I have tried a few times but I am doing something wrong. My bread is always heavy. It is never light and soft.
She taught me how to do it without measuring. Measuring complicates it. Do like Bev go by the looks of the dough and feel, too dry add liquid, too sticky add flour.

But saying all that, can you tell me where you got you bread pans from? please and thanks

The only thing I like about the Hot Cross Buns is the icing that goes across it I'm not wild about the candied fruit in it or raisins either but I could go for a sweet Easter bread yum yum I made three ricotta pies today three rice pies today three wheat pies I'm doing the chocolate and vanilla cream tomorrow this year I skipped doing the pies with all the different kinds of meat floating an egg and cheese but I have 20 dozen eggs in the refrigerator I'm going to hand them out to all my guests
I always proof my yeast, no matter what type it is. I'd rather take the time to ensure my yeast is viable than end up wasting all the other ingredients
