My Morning Jacket performing "Compound Fracture" Live on KCRW

In the four years since My Morning Jacket's last record, Jim James and his band mates have clearly been hard at work, with two albums' worth of material ready for release. The Waterfall is the first of these records, and it represents them at their most arena-ready. The band lays off some of their trademark reverb to let this batch of songs really ring out, showcasing their magical balance of muscular guitar-rock and tender love ballads that successfully manages to escape 70s-era flashbacks. What its sister record (scheduled for release next year) will offer we will have to wait to find out. No problem though - it just gives us a chance to fully bathe in the majesty of this year's Waterfall, as we share their first live performances of songs from the new album, recorded for a private audience at the Mack Sennett Studios in collaboration with Sonos Studio.

Love the song. Love the group. This live version had fantastic instrumentals but the lead vocals were a little froggy.
