While I agree that Steph is a little better than KD, here’s a better statement for you: the warriors can do it without KD, KD can’t do it without the warriors. Stop attributing the ENTIRETY of a team’s success to only one player, especially when they’ve got a stacked squad. Here’s an example of how your thinking is flawed: Tim Duncan has 5 rings, but people usually don’t put him as a more dominant player than Shaq who only has 4. Why?

So then you have Bird, Magic, Kobe, Shaq, Tim and Wilt. The thing with Steph is that he is a unique type of player that changes a team's playstyle to cater to him with his sheer ability to shoot the ball. GSW has perfected that by allowing him to get off the best shots possible with their screens. Even if you put him in some other team, Steph will eventually become their system(you can't ignore his scoring ability) and change the team's culture (work ethic/team mentality). There's a reason he is the first pick for most GMs to build a team around. I know if I'm making an all-time team, Steph's running the point and will probably be my first pick just because of his ability to break down a defence with his gravity & off-ball movement. The other team will also have to guard him from the half-court, which creates more space for his teammates.
I've seen some people backtrack from saying Steph would be top 10/#1 point guard if he won this chip with finals MVP. It don't matter, he might never be given his flowers by other people, but real recognizes real. The legends of the game acknowledge Steph's greatness. And as long we get to witness more of this beautiful brand of basketball, that's enough

It baffles me how Max says that Tim Duncan didn't reach the heights that Kobe reached, or wasn't ever the best player in the league for 5 years, when Kobe wasn't either, first half of the 2000s was between Shaq an Timmy, second Half of the 2000s Kobe was top 2, but Lebron was also there reaching the finals with scrubs in 07 and winning an MVP in 09 (and then 2010,12,13). We all love Kobe, but give TD some respect because there is a reason he is considered the best PF of all time, he is a 5xChampion, 2xMVP, a 15xall NBA, 15xall NBA defensive, and is the second youngest finals MVP in NBA history.

The average height of players in the '60s was only slightly shorter than modern players. This panel is ridiculous in what they are saying about the heights of players in the '60s compared to today. One could even argue that the 6os to early 70s was the golden age of centers in the NBA. In '73 they started measuring players with shoes on which makes a significant difference in their listed height. When considering this, centers in Wilt's era were taller - Bill Russell would be 6'11" with shoes on, Walt Bellamy 7', Nate Thurmond 7' or 7'1", Kareem 7'2" or 7'3", etc... These jokers need to get their facts straight.

Something I just thought about between MJ And Curry is that MJ had to go against the top of the Bulls organization, his tenacity and individual grit of overcoming the tension within the organization is an amazing accomplishment and for all of them to play well when Pippin was having trouble and so on, it is amazing that they were able to do that.
Curry created the culture and there probably has never been a more United organization than the warriors have. Curry creates unity, MJ created a high pressure situation for his team in almost the opposite sense. So the. It just depends on what you value more: grit and the individual intensity of MJ or the Uniting power of Curry to create a team that everyone wants to play on, including Lebron right now. I would say both are so incredible.

All you gotta do is research. The average NBA height in the 60's was 6'5-6'6. In today's league the average height of the NBA player is 6'6 lol. The disrespect of Wilt Chamberlin is crazy!! The average height of players back when Wilt played is only one inch shorter than the average height of players today. Also, there was no free agency back in the day. The Celtics had a loaded team. There is no way Wilt could have beat that loaded team. For example, James could not beat the KD warriors. Wilt would dominate today's league in a way not seen Shaq. But, Wilt would be even better because he could get better players. Wilt is a top-three player all-time. Even Bill Russel has said that Wilt was better than he was. Wilt was 7'1 275lbs. He ran faster than Jim Brown; could go into the weight room and lift with Arnold.

    • @johng4099

Wilt would have been great in any era. He's in my top 5 due to how dominant he was as an individual player. Wilt always gets disrespected due to how far back he played in & the recency bias that so many fans have goes against him. The only reason I have Russell ahead of Wilt is due to the rings since 11 is so much greater than 2 rings. Russell's greatness on defense helped the Celtics' offense a lot which people tend to forget due to all the attention being on offense most of the time.

@maxkellerman you pick and choose. Simple if you that wilt wasn't that impressive because of his height advantage. By that same logic then that means steph height disadvantage makes him even greater. If lebron gets credit for being genetical freak of nature which give him cleat advantages. Then stephs lack of advantages makes his accomplishments that much more impressive. If you are comparing a 6'2 guy to a 6'11 guy in KD what does that honestly say about curry. When you objectively look at it. It's a guy 6'2 with stats comparable to the top. With impact as revolutionary as the top 5 doing it in the "king James era" who the beat number 2 guy 3 times at 6'2 and who you can definitively say you would start your franchise with over 50 percent of your top 10 list. It's clear he is top 5. Probably at that #5
No one in the top 5 has beat another top 5 player more than once. Bron didn't play with those guys. Magic and Kareem never beat mj in the finals. Mj only beat magic once. But curry has beat the #2 3times in his Era had more impact in the #2 guys Era has the same amount of rings in the #2 guys Era. Actually if it wasn't for curry lebron may have 7 or 8 rings and he would be the clear cut goat. He stop something prolific in the lebron Era. Curry is number 5. Period. I think Wilt and Bird are the players you could argue most about to overtaken by Steph.
Bird was the more consistently great Player than Steph, with just a lot less injuries (9 all nba first vs 4) and he definitely was the better defender and rebounder. He is much taller and heavier though, and Steph is obviously the better scorer, shooter, on par with him in passing, but has won more chips.
For Wilt. He is likely the most dominant player in NBA history, but he didn’t win many titles, his stats all dropped towards the playoffs, and he is notorious for stat padding. Yeah he was really great, but him chasing points and rebounds was a lot like Westbrook chasing triple doubles. Great stats, but doesn’t do much towards winning games.
Shaq and Duncan have the 3 FMVPs, and Kobe has 5 rings.
If Curry were to win another chip or another regular season MVP, we can talk about Top 5 to 8. As of now, he is 9th at best, 11th at least.

I could see Steph overtaking Wilt, but not Larry. As you said Larry is just the better overall player. I have Steph around #13. Number of championships is still geared towards a team achievement than an individual one, and as much as I like Steph as a 3pt shooter, there are better overall scorers than him. What hurts Steph compared to the Top 10 and Top 12 is that they are more complete players than Steph. They are better rebounders, passers, and much better defenders than him, overall. I wouldn't put Steph over say Kobe or Shaq who I have at #11 and #12 respectively, because while Steph is the better 3pt shooter, Kobe and Shaq were just better overall players, especially Kobe who was a much, much better defender than Steph.

For a player to be considered top 10 all time; they should have to be on the "NBA All Defense team" at least 3 times to even be considered proving it was not a fluke but a pattern. The real top ten should be; Michael, Lebron, Kobe, Kareem, Giannis, Olajuwon, Kawhi, Robinson, Bird. These player were all the primary scorer and the best defender consistently! Just saying.

So why is Magic Johnson in the Top 10 when he never made all defense team? He led the league in steals 2x but is not a great defender. Explain to me why all Defensive teams show if your a great defender or not. Chris Paul is 9x all defense is he a better defender than a Tony Allen or a Michael Cooper? No. Rudy Gobert has 6 all defense and has 3 DPOY is he the best defender in the NBA? No. Just because your all defensive doesn't mean your a great defender.
