hehe I the last vest I wore was the IOTV Gen I with the Level IV plates. I had an MBITR radio pouch on my back left side of the vest, Camelback attached center back of the vest. My IFAK was left rear, Canteen right rear. I had the double stack mag pouches (6 total magazines) on the lower center of the vest. you will have 7 total magazines. I also had 1 pouch on the upper right shoulder strap that was for the CAT tourniquets. the last item I had was a Holster that was adjustable and that went center of the vest with it set up for left handed firers along with a sturdy lanyard attached to a rock climbing clamp attached to the vest. One thing I had that should be mentioned was the Casualty feeder cards which were kept in a Zip lock bag. the cards were laminated as well. I had permanent black marker (thin line) and red marker ( to mark tourniquet's time on the body) with the card and in the zip lock and it was stored in the ballistic liner in the front of the vest (quick and easy access).
Around 4:40, you could just unbuckle that buckle and put the loop over it and rebuckle it. Works fine for me and doesn't impede the buckle if it needs to be taken off in an emergency
I watched this once and didnt pay attention ..then later when setting up my own TAPS i came back here for reference lol. A lot of good information here 👍
Clicked on only to learn the ways of the back plate. Didn’t know about that top access point until now, life has changed now that I know. Not only will LMTV rides be more comfortable but also it’s good to know I won’t be As fucked up if a bullet rips. Could’ve asked an E-5, figured I’d ask the college of RUclips first.
Used a cheap plate carrier until my unit banned their use. It was still way better than the IOTV (older gen). I made it a bit more comfortable by just taking out the soft armor since only plates were checked.
@@wecx2375 Its great in the absence of hard plates (even training plates would repel shrapnel better than kevlar) or in the scenario with shrapnel which we never had to worry about.
I just use mag pouches and I have a S clip on that little plastic loop on my right for my weapon. Then I have a camelback on the back and I want an admin pouch above my mag pouches.
I was stressing out how to put these on cuz i just got out of AIT and when they told us about the flc and stuff i thought i was never issue one and when i saw this weird looking piece i was like tf is this
You don’t get them until you’re about to deploy which didn’t happen for me at the time of me arriving. But there’s a neat pocket that’s very easy to see and place the side plates in
Velco is a dogs ass in a deployment. That crap has failed me on day one. Sand or snow. Mud or grass. Better take zipties, web or 550 because it is just a matter of time until it fails.
Does anybody have a picture of the iotv brand new!? I’m trying to wash my husbands so he can turn it in and won’t get charged money for it. They said it was too dirty.
I’m going to my first AT. They just handed me my gear and said to put it together. Really appreciate it bro.
"If the army wanted me to have one, they would have issued me one" was my response to my unit telling me I need to buy my own PT belt after AIT
Too true my man
We don't use PT belts in my unit.
Who told you that? They issue you one in processing at every base I've been to.
I don't understand that attitude at all. Get the things that save your life, not the things they can afford to buy for you.
@@convoid1888they absolutely do not in every single unit I’ve been in
Thanks for sharing your set-up and showing us how to install the mole pouches the right way........stay alert and stay safe out there !!!

The amount of cussing is how I know this is legit 😂

Soft armor is great for shrapnel protection.

@@nanzistnt2573 I dunno man, lots of grenades thrown at our convoy, I like all the soft armor, I never understood just plate carrier.
Good video, weekend warrior here so this was much appreciated.
Thank you so much. I finally attached my flk to my iotv. And how this guy explain is so funny lol
Hey wait you attached a fox to the iotv !!?!? Can you do a video . I have an old iotv but wouldn’t decide to put either a fox or a taps on it
I used an IBA when I was in. We all used extra large plates no matter what, was strange to see a medium.
Thanks bro I appreciate you
I couldn’t find where to put the rear plate, or how exactly to do the carrier
Thanks bro. I was about to use an actual IOTV for my airsoft loadout I'm making.
Does the assault panel have to come off everytime you take off your IOTV or am I missing something?
You use clips to attach it to the iotv, the side clips need to come off for the iotv to come off
Bro your the best thank you for posting this video!!!
They didn't even issue me a panel. So I'm limited on where I can put my mag pouches. I guess they are going on the sides on the straps.
That’s fucked they didn’t issue you the correct sets of straps, I bet they try and charge you for them once you turn it into CIF

Yea, my kit now looks a lot how you’re describing yours. Definitely don’t need to buy a bunch of gear to be efficient
I appreciate the video! Thanks for helping me get squared away.
very helpful video!
Can 10x12 plates fit into the iotv
Love this video
Dude I’ve been wearing my mine for two whole years and never knew about the back pocket for the plate. Am I stupid
Thank you😺

Where’s your side plate ???

Where can a civilian get an IOTV like that???
Not sure where to get one exactly like this but a chance would be military surplus stores
Ebay. There's always some guardsman that needs cash fast. LOL.
It took you a couple of years to realize where the life saving plates go into your carrier? You are a soldier right?
This you? ->🤡

Just got out of AIT heplfull vid

What unit are you in they make you use the TAPs, when I was at Campbell some people just had FLCs some had TAPs so no one used either
