Wow what it must have been like to be a young boy working on that railroad! I drove tractors small Massy's or Farmall's working in tobacco when I was young and enjoyed it.. as a job. Trains were my life, this would have been a dream!
Great video about a line I am ashamed to say I knew nothing about. Excellent; thanks for sharing. (btw I am a long-time volunteer on the 2-foot gauge Gartell Light Railway in Somerset - a line perhaps that some of you good people out there have not heard of...!)
The railway is still very much there - in fact it was extended some years ago and extra locos added. Somewhere I've got some film of the extended line so watch this space.......

I bought a copy of this video on VHS - nice to see it in digital format. A valuable record of one of the best private miniature railways.
Who says money can't buy happiness? This is gorgeous.
What a wonderful railway. Thank you so much for posting this video.

Derek Smith Its hard to find photos or videos of the line. Can't wait to see the film.
Try thestig.co.uk/picture?/1634/category/WLR
I think they are the most up to date photos on the web.
NCNG9 They go to a scrap yard and by cut up
@@DerekSmith1949 I saw the photos and I'm happy they expanded but I wish they kept the original stations...
no, sorry there is no mail service on the line
Is there mail service on the railway?
Is this open to the general public?
No, sorry. It does have one or two open days a year but there is no regular opening.
Nothing light about that railway :P
Didn’t realise it got a bit of profanity in it too!
Missed that and as its now had 50,000+ views so has everyone else :-)
