  • An extended version of the sequence seen in Passenger Carrying Garden Railways, this video shows the 7¼" gauge Wayside Light Railway in operation during a busy public open day. In the 25 years since this was shot the railway has expanded but still retains the unique narrow gauge charm it had in 1989. Contains a trip round the line so you can work out just where it all goes! Running time is approximately 19 minutes.

Wow what it must have been like to be a young boy working on that railroad! I drove tractors small Massy's or Farmall's working in tobacco when I was young and enjoyed it.. as a job. Trains were my life, this would have been a dream!

I bought a copy of this video on VHS - nice to see it in digital format. A valuable record of one of the best private miniature railways.

Great video about a line I am ashamed to say I knew nothing about. Excellent; thanks for sharing. (btw I am a long-time volunteer on the 2-foot gauge Gartell Light Railway in Somerset - a line perhaps that some of you good people out there have not heard of...!)

The railway is still very much there - in fact it was extended some years ago and extra locos added. Somewhere I've got some film of the extended line so watch this space.......
